About Vets Now

Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.

That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.

Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Terrible

Terrible, vet not interested. Gave 2 injections, charged extra for administrating them. Consultation dearer than on Web site. £519.12 for 15 minutes. Told not to feed or water dog until she sees own vet in the morning. Even though we told him she was bringing up blood in sick and bowels.
Now to top the lot, I filled in the claim form you emailed me and returned it the next day. 11 days later insurance company still not received it.

My appointment was out if hours

My appointment was out of hours. Vets now were amazing, they immediately messaged with location details and on arrival were so kind and helpful. The nurse and vet, apologies I don't know their names, were brilliant, so so good with my boy reassuring him, taking time to pet him and also to calm me down!! 100% recommend!!!!!

Very expensive euthanasia. No compassion.

I took my beloved mastiff in to the Eastbourne branch last night, to be euthanised. The receptionist was extremely kind and understanding - but the first veterinary team member to come out to greet me was a complete contrast; she talked straight across me to a young couple sitting in the waiting area, saying something to the effect of, "This is why it's so difficult to make plans for dinner." Seriously?! What a great bedside manner to have with someone who is barely holding it together in the waiting area with their dying dog. The same vet tech/nurse was decent enough to my dog but in a very business-like manner; there was no real compassion and it was clear she just wanted the whole process over and done with so she could go to her precious dinner appointment. For this "service", the bill presented to me for the euthanasia was £919.50! I know I should have requested an itemized bill at the time but I was too upset to even think of doing so. It was only this morning when I started researching what euthanasia SHOULD cost for a dog the same size as mine, that I got a shock. My girl was ready to go; she had been in distress and was gone before even half of the first syringe went into her system, peacefully and in my arms. I know the cost of that shouldn't matter, but when times are hard and pets are all some of us have, £900-odd does feel rather exploitative, especially as I wasn't even at the facility for more than an hour and was clearly seen as just an inconvenience to the vet tech/nurse dealing with the process.

Cats

I had to visit the emergency vet as our cat had been hit by either a car or bike.
The vet was very kind and friendly. She treated Walter so gently and put our minds at rest. Reassuring us that he was ok.
Would definitely recommend Vets Now.
Thank you ☺️

Chased for payment

Our dog was being kept overnight as she was very poorly and needed to be observed. Unfortunately she deteriorated and had to be put to sleep. The vet and nurses were very compassionate and showed our lovely Heidi the upmost care, respect and attention. I called the next day to settle the bill with St Anne's not realising that the night surgery was run by Vets Now, St Anne's said a separate invoice would be sent by Vets Now. By the end of the week I had still not had the invoice. Conscious that the bill was outstanding I called Vets Now and got through to a call centre in Scotland, gave some details and paid the bill. The next day I received a call from Eastbourne saying that the bill was still outstanding, I said I paid it the previous day without having received the invoice. I asked what would have happened if I hadn't have taken the initiative to call, the caller said I would have received an outstanding bill letter. I found this quite upsetting as it suggests I was delaying paying what was owed. At such an upsetting time customers do not need to be harassed for payment particularly before an invoice has not been received. The invoice arrived two days later.

My dog was treated with utmost care and and consideration. But myself being disabled found the seating painful and difficult to get up from, there are no arms either side to help raise oneself. Old handicapped folk do have pets! Just a thought!
Other than that - great.

Dr Sinead Kelly gave us so much support and advice when we called about our puppy having an allergic reaction to something and breaking out in hives. We were able to have peace of mind and Albus has made a swift recovery. Thank you! Worth every penny of the 10 min call to avoid an emergency visit to the vets! Thoroughly recommend!
