I am a valid UK citizen trying to open…

I am a valid UK citizen trying to open an ISA. I have done it with other companies in the past with no issues. I am almost on 3 months of back and fourth requests for documents. Don't bother starting the process with them, it is a joke. I work in an industry where I have to do anti-money laundering. Vanguard is just pure incompetence. Skip them to save yourself time

Where do I begin

Where do I begin? Across the past few years Vanguard's inability to train their people and give them what they need to help me is horrible. If I could give negative stars I would. Want to fill in a form online? I am never able to, they email the wrong form, call them back, get the right form, send it in only find it is outdated. This goes on and on. Funny - they as for 1 date of experience. Wish I could give a range. Looking to move everything.

Complete incompetence

Complete incompetence. They are unable to execute trades, the website does not allow you to purchase most stocks online, nor does it allow you to specify lots sold in most accounts. The tax information is INCORRECT! Their website is stone age. Do NOT use this brokerage!!!
Update: for the third time this year, their website is down at opening!!! How absolutely incompetent for a multi million dollar trading platform to be completely unavailable!

I've had holdings with Vanguard for…

I've had holdings with Vanguard for over thirty years. Their customer service used to be great. You used to get needed tax forms fast. Now, customer service sucks. My 1099 consolidated form was supposed to be available on 1/28/26. When I went to download it, the date had changeed to a range from 2/19/26 to 3/7/26. Really? It could take almost 2 1/2 months to post 1099s??? When trying to negotiate the customer service voice menu, I was first connected to silence. I had to call back and start over. The second time I reached a foreign call center. The rep of course couldn't help so I just logged a complaint. That will do no good. This isn't the first issue I've had since John Bogel died. Things have changed at Vanguard for he worse. If I didn't have to worry about capital gains, I'd close my account and transfer to another fund company. I would not recommend Vanguard.

I opened an account in November 2025 and couldn't get into it

I opened an account in November 2025, and couldn't access it in January 2026. Who I tried to do so, the automated system sent a text message to a phone number that is not mine. I finally managed to talk to a human being in the sales department who transferred me to a sent a service representative. I was told it would take 7 days before they could reinstate my account. I closed it instead

Tried to reset password

Tried to reset password. Allowed me to change password. Tried to login with password. Password was incorrect. Contacted customer service who was unhelpful Failure of a company. Cannot wait to no longer have to deal with them, unfortunately they are the administrator of my retirement plan, so I am stuck with them. One star is to many.

Conflicting Information and Broken Promises

Support agents, both on chat and on the phone, gave me conflicting information. What one agent said was true, another agent said it wasn't. For example, one agent said that having two "trusted contacts" was impossible, but another said it was possible and took information for a second one. I was told, however, that only the first one would be displayed on their website. After giving information for a second trusted contact, I received a message days later showing this second contact but I was horrified to see that it was simply my first one with corrupted and missing information that used to be there. I was also promised a printed verification through the mail like the one I had received for the first contact but it never came.

Vanguard is scary bad

Vanguard is scary bad! I've had 10+ incompetent and unhelpful representatives for every 2 on the line. One had two kids yelling in the background. One two agents seemed to be trained. Entrusting them with assets is someting that should be approached cautiously.

Horrible CSR and poor platform design for RMD distribution

As with nearly every one else..this is a customer service issue. Time spent extraordinarily long and not resolved. CSR would not transfer to supervisor...the platform does not seemlessly let you take your RMD...nearly 2 weeks have gone by...now they are charging me 25.00 as a sale for an RMD distribution. Reporting to sec.gov

Wanted to take and cash out a small…

Wanted to take and cash out a small amount that I had from a previous employer call costumer service and was ask the dumbest security questions and didn't even ask me about my account info and wouldn't let me proceed from there and thank goodness I only have a small amount because it wouldn't surprise me if they are broke and finding every way they can to stall

I just tried to call for support and everyone sound the same with broken English and SEVERELY incompetent. I'm very shocked. I had to hang up thinking my call was somehow ported to fraudsters. Pulling my 1M investments out immediately.

Absolutely incompetent customer service

Absolutely incompetent customer support.
Wanted to make a minor change to my regular, quarterly retirement disbursements. Can't do this online (why?). Called customer service who told me that they are "fixed" and can't be changed. Nonsense. Asked to speak to someone more knowledgeable. Refused. Told they would "direct" me to my plan rules so I could "understand" why they were correct. Then (this all took more than 1/2 hour) they come back and say "sorry, I wasn't looking at your whole account page" or some such nonsense. Another 20 minutes on several holds while they accomplished my simple request.
Mind-numbing that with most of my retirement savings under their stewardship, I have to talk with, and educate, one of their poorly trained imbeciles to make even minor changes happen.

Lack of simple communication skills!!

Their customer service lacks the basic communication skills and it takes forever to get information or confirmations!! A middle schooler would do 1000 times a better job than their offshore customer service team and it truly disappointing to deal with Vanguard!! If they aren't my employer's 401k provider, would have moved in a heartbeat!

In Nov 2022 I've opened up a 7 day high yield with $25 the following week u attempt to add money they stated that I will receive a call from the research team ,well after yrs to the yr 2026 I have still have not received a call the last time we talked to them was spring 2023 and it was the samething so I just called today January7 2026 and it still hear the same thing they even refuse to close my account and return the money they still talks of research team will call me well that was 4 yrs ago still heard from no one

Outsourced Off Shore Customer Service

The customer service that Vanguard has chosen to use is horrendously inept. Clearly sub-contracted to off shore countries who not only work off a script but can barely speak the language of the country they are hired to support. I even asked to be transferred to someone who had a better grasp of the English language. I was put on hold and and after 10 min the same customer service rep came back and tried to act as though she was a different person. I asked why she didn't transfer me and she just said she doesn't have the ability to transfer the call after leaving me on hold for 10 min.
What a waste of my valuable time trying to discuss my Vanguard account.
