WHO LIKES BEING DECEIVED?

THE TUTOROO PLATFORM STAFF REFUSED TO PUT THINGS STRAIGHT WHEN I POSED THEM REASONABLE QUESTIONS, SUCH AS ''HOW MANY CLASSES AM I SUPPOSED TO GIVE THE STUDENT FOR FREE TO START CHARGING ANYTHING FINALLY?'' UP THIS MOMENT I MET THE STUDENT THRICE AND WITHOUT EARNING ANY PENNY.

(This is in response to your “clarification”)
It turns out that during the course of those first two weeks, the student only received one lesson, as it coincided with the Christmas and New Year holidays. However, you charged the student in advance for four lessons, regardless of whether the student took the lessons in one week or over the course of a year. When I explained that you should issue a refund to the student for this reason, you refused.

This caused a great deal of confusion, where no one seemed to know anything and no one was willing to take responsibility for anything, and in the end I was the only one who lost out. You kept all the money and refused to issue any kind of refund; the student paid for four lessons in advance but only received three lessons, and I did not receive a single penny, either from the student or from you. On top of that, I lost the student because of this situation.

You have not been clear, either with me (as you initially told me one thing and then another depending on what suited you best) or with the student. In conclusion, regardless of what you say, you have misled both of us.

Hi Alan,

Thank you for your message. We understand your frustration and appreciate the opportunity to clarify.

During the tutor sign-up process, the TUTOROO Introductory Guide and terms are presented for review. Profile activation only proceeds once this step is completed, which indicates acceptance of the introductory structure, including lesson handling and payout conditions. All activated tutors are therefore considered to have agreed to these terms before starting lessons on the platform.

As outlined in our Terms and Tutor FAQs, TUTOROO collects and holds the first two weeks of payments for each newly confirmed student. This may cover one lesson per week (2 lessons total) or two lessons per week (4 lessons total), depending on the agreed schedule. After this initial period, tutors keep 100% of their lesson fees directly from the student.

If a student discontinues during the first two weeks, a payout equivalent to 50% of the completed lessons paid for is issued to the tutor, in accordance with our policy.

In your case, although you have met the student three times, the booking is still within the initial two-week introductory period, which is why no payout has been released yet. This does not mean the lessons are unpaid, but that they fall under the standard introductory structure applied to all new tutor–student matches.

We’re sorry if this was unclear at the time and understand how frustrating this may feel. If you would like us to review your case further, please contact us directly with your registered email and student details so we can assist you.

Best regards,
The TUTOROO Team

Great job of the support team

Great job of the support team, they are fast and efficientin, and in putting students and tutors in contact. On the other hand I think that giving four, one hour and a half, classes for free is is too much, specially when the student only wants a few lessons. I even had a student that only wanted two classes and told me after the second class.

Money trap and no customer support

After I selected a teacher and the 3 of us (tutoroo, me and the teacher) agreed when to start and how often to meet, I had to pay for the first 2 classes and the rest are to be paid directly to the teacher. However, when I paid the page refreshed and instead of 2 and I paid for 4 classes. I reached out to tutoroo and I was told that after the first 2 classes I will be reimbursed. Thad has not happened and most of my messages on this topic were ignored. Having the option to pay for more than 2 classes when after 2 the teacher has to be paid it itself a money trap. Very disappointing experience. I consider now a debt recovery company .

Appalling Service

I opted for 2 weeks of lessons for 2 people and paid the amount quoted. After the first lesson, the tutor Dudu asked for more money and when I explained what I had been quoted and therefore paid for, the tutor cancelled the remaining 3 lessons and I have not received a refund or any response to my complaints from Tutoroo.

Unpaid tutor payout after 40 working days

I am a tutor on TUTOROO and this was my first student on the platform.

The student completed 4 lessons, and TUTOROO confirmed that I am entitled to a payout of SAR 390.

I was informed that the payout process would take up to 30 working days. However, more than 40 working days have now passed, and I still have not received the payment.

I have followed up multiple times through the platform and via email. Support repeatedly says the case is with the Finance team, but no transaction reference, payment date, or clear explanation has been provided.

This experience has been very disappointing, especially as a first payout, and raises serious concerns about reliability for tutors.

Terrible customer service and…

Terrible customer service and overcharging policy. I agreed a rate with the tutor, who was great, and although this wasn’t the rate shown on the site - the customer service informed to go ahead and they would charge only the correct amount. I’ve been in discussion with them now for more than a month and they won’t refund me the difference. The reason is that I have a different child attending for each 1 hour of the 2 hour session booked - therefore it’s their policy to charge double the fee which is obviously ridiculous if only one is attending at a time. I dont believe this is their policy, however they just don’t want to honor the refund they agreed after instructing me to book. They have ignored the fact I have an email from them telling me what the process would be. It’s knowingly stealing from their customers. It’s a shame because the tutor is brilliant, and she didn’t get anything from this overcharging.
I would never go near this company again and would strongly recommend others to stay away from their bad practices.

Hi Eleanor,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how frustrating this situation has been, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify.

Our booking form is designed for one-hour lessons with two students attending at the same time. When it was later indicated that each student would attend one hour separately, this resulted in a total of two hours, as our system does not support adjusting a single booking for back-to-back individual lessons.

In addition, please note that each student is required to pay for the first two weeks of lessons. As there were two students registered, this results in a total of four one-hour lessons being correctly covered by the payment.

At present, we do not offer an option for two students to attend sequential individual lessons under one booking—only simultaneous group lessons or separate individual bookings are available.

We understand this may not have been the intended arrangement, and we’re sorry for any confusion caused. However, as the booking and payment were processed correctly and sufficiently according to our system and policies, we’re unable to proceed with a refund.

We truly appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear your positive comments about the tutor.

Kind regards,
The TUTOROO Team

My tutor meets me face to face at a cafe in Tenjin and it’s perfect. I was not interested in an online tutor. I’m an older learner with slightly diminished hearing so sitting across from her and really hearing her has been great. She is always prepared and the lessons have been incredibly helpful.
