Bought a Transcend Drivepro 220 and mounting in October 2015. A month ago the SD card fell out and wouldn't lock back in. To cut a fairly short story shorter, Transcend have said my device is 1. out of warranty 2. reached the end of its life 3. they do not make the model so cannot process repairs. £135.00 well spent then.
I suppose it equates to £45 a year and maybe that's to be expected?
Not sure, but its a good job the main dealer doesn't say he can't repair your car because a new model has come out.
Will I be upgrading to another Transcend? I think not.
Be aware if buying @transcenduk products. Firstly, they are poor quality. We were seduced by the "lifetime warranty" on our memory cards - but both have failed within a couple of years with the same fault - data cannot be wiped. A quick Google confirms this to be a common issue with Transcend cards.
Then secondly, the aforementioned warranty won't be honoured unless you're prepared to give access to all your data in the event that memory can't be erased. Your card and all data stuck on it will be sent to Taiwan. Customer Service don't seem to think there's anything unreasonable in this. Were unconcerned, unapologetic and unhelpful. Will not offer any solutions for wiping the data in a manner acceptable to them, or accept if damaged to protect data - we even offered to video the destruction as proof.
Poor quality products, poor service. I'll be going back to SanDisk - have never once had one of their products fail.
Don't buy anything from this company. When things work it's great, but when you need to use their so-called lifetime warranty on SD Cards you have major issues getting them to send you your SD Card back. Mine has been sent to them over 2 months ago and they keep making excuses by telling me that it got lost in the post, they sent it out the second time and they sent it to a completely different country to the address I gave them. I keep getting played around with them and I have yet to get a replacement or the SD card I sent them back. Stick with SanDisk as I've had to return a card to them and it took no more than 3 weeks to get a replacement. These Chinese companies as so dodgy
After 1 year of using the dashcam i noticed recently it started to go blurry especially when i paused it to read the number plates of oncoming cars or even signs on the road. I checked the camera wasn't dirty or anything like that.
I've contacted Transcend and explain the situation and how the camera is behaving. They suggested that the camera needs to focus on the road an not on the windscreen and by moving it it will re calibrate.
Also they suggested that it might have been foggy or cloudy so the camera wouldn't perform as good. I personally found it a bit insulting trying to suggest that the fog or rain make the number plates or the writings all blurry. The end result was that they never had any problems with their dash cams before and they are usually very reliable. They didn't asked me to have it sent over to get it tested or anything like that.
In the end i had to stop asking for assistance as the questions were getting more ridiculous. I was one step away from being asked if i needed glasses.
I won't be buying any products from this firm going forward.
I bought a Transcend StoreJet 25M3 (external hard drive) last week, and I felt shocked when I saw there was not evwn 10% of the momory it was supposed to have.
So I sent a ticket to them and received a reply the next day, explaining to me what I should do - and it got fixed.
Really good customer support.
Been using them for a while now never had any issues with any of them.
