Defective Transcend SSD – warranty support refused
I purchased a Transcend ESD260C 1TB portable SSD. The drive developed read problems and has progressively deteriorated. Its SMART data now shows 97 reallocated sectors, 97 pending sectors, 49 offline uncorrectable sectors and 49 reallocation events. During normal read operations, Linux reports “Medium Error – Unrecovered read error” and “Hardware Error – Internal target failure”.
I contacted Transcend Customer Service regarding the hardware failure. They refused to accept the warranty claim because my request was received after the warranty expiration date. I explained that the problems had started well before the warranty expired, but this was not addressed. I received essentially the same refusal again.
I understand that warranty periods have an end date. However, refusing to even consider a claim because the support request was submitted a few days after that date, while the customer reports that the defect had already manifested itself during the warranty period, is disappointing.
I have the original purchase documents and warranty card, as well as SMART data and diagnostic logs documenting the hardware failure.
Based on my experience, I would not rely on Transcend for warranty support when a hardware problem develops near the end of the warranty period.
Absolutely disgusting behaviour from Transcend Information (UK) Ltd. I've been waiting for my replacement ssd for over 8 weeks and ive still not received its They've been ignoring my emails for updates and don't seem to be in any hurry to replace my ssd.8 weeks isn't a reasonable time and its been a significant inconvenience.
I bought a slim portable DVD writer from Transcend with 24x CD-R read speed. I inserted an MP3 CD, and it took several minutes for the player to read it. Playing it back wouldn't work; it took tens of minutes. I could only copy it to my hard drive one song at a time, an entire folder is not possible to copy. It malfunctioned after an hour or so. A WORTHLESS device.
Most of the drives has 5-year warranty. Replacement delivered within 2 days. Highly recommended!
DO NOT PURCHASE JETDRIVE LITE 330 FOR MAC
Bought from Amazon 5 months ago to be used to increase storage and use as they advertise, as a way to make Iphone backups. I transfered all my photos and a few files there as well as phone backup's only to have the card stop working yesterday morning.
Apple and Transcend have not been able to diagnose what the problem is as it cant be read. I had also taken this card into an Apple store in Stavanger.
Transcend says;
"High reliability protects your data. JetDrive Lite expansion cards are manufactured using advanced COB (chip-on-board) technology, making them resistant to water, dust, and shock. No matter what kind of adventures you decide to embark on with your MacBook, the JetDrive Lite 330 will carry you through."
I'm here to tell you this Macbook never left the office desk so I advise anyone looking to increase their storage to use a different brand.
In addition;
Whilst dealing with Transcend support over the phone they were pleasant to deal with and quickly emailed a few programs to try and recover however it was hopeless and it was made clear if I chose to get professional recovery assistance, I would be liable for the bill. I believe after 5 months of usage they should offer to receive the unit, extract the data and replace with a new card at the very minimum, but thats just my opinion.
I have a drivepro dp20, and emailed them for a part(o-ring seal).
There's only the one on the unit.
Got an email back stating that I needed to send a photo, which I did.
Not heard anything back.
So incompetent they can't even understand with a photo.
It's like giving a child a children's menu at a restaurant with photos and still don't understand.
The drivepro dp20 ONLY HAS 1 O-RING SEAL!!!
I bought an external 1TB SSD in November 2019 which has failed. Checking the website, it still has warranty until October 2022. I contacted Transcend who said that I have to return via the distributor/vendor which in this case is Amazon UK.
After very lengthy discussions with Amazon, they REFUSE to accept the item back as it is beyond their 2 year cut off period (despite the fact that they would only have to return it to Transcend for an RMA).
It is pretty ridiculous that I cannot send the drive directly back to Transcend!!
update: It was Transcend Taiwan who initially stated that the drive had to be sent back to the vendor. Fortunately I have had more luck with Transcend UK offices who have agreed to accept a return under warranty.
Had my faulty JetDrive 855 SSD replaced within two days, no questions asked. That is what I call standing behind your product and being true to what you promise (5 year global warranty), very rare nowadays and therefore all the more appreciated!
I recently purchased a DrivePro 200 dash cam and could update the firmware as I am not fully computer literate.
I contacted Transcend customer service with my problem. They responded very professionally in good time and patiently instructed me how to fix my problem.
A special mention to Christopher who primarily felt with my case. Well done Transcend!
This is a fantastic company.I send of a dashcam with a problem which was out of the guarantee and it was sorted at no charge.I will certainly buy from them again.
I had a problem.
We have 3 DrivePro 200 dashcams and one cable got damaged. I discovered Transcend don't make that dash cam or that cable any longer.
However their customer service came up trumps and found a couple in a cupboard somewhere.
So full marks for their brilliant customer service especially seeing as it was over the Christmas, New Year period. Thank you!
Faulty SSD. Can happen to anyone. Six weeks to get a replacement should definitely NOT happen to anyone.
I would not purchase a Transcend product again simply because I couldn’t afford to wait this long for a warranty replacement.
Also virtually impossible to contact company. Phone lines all go to automated answer. Emails bounce back.
Not good.

Great technology, love the power banks and portable discs
Amazing service. It’s reassuring to know of a company that offers such great support. My dash cam was well out of warranty when suffered a misfunction but I contacted Transcend who said that it was an obsolete model now but if I returned it they would be happy to look at it.
Result - they were able to reset it and returned it f.o.c. and even apologised that they couldn’t offer a further warranty!
Clearly a company that not only believes in, but fully supports its products. These days that’s worth any premium.
Recently I had to have some repairs to my pc. Taking lots of videos and images I quickly ordered a 2TB external drive from Transcend. It was not the 1st time I have ordered one - in fact this is my 9th (yes, 9th!!) external hard drive from them. Years ago I was lucky enough to win a 1Tb Storejet Portable Drive. I was so impressed with it's performance it's my go to for storing my stuff. I did once buy a Lacie drive as it was recommended by a friend but even that failed on me. My only wish was that I could somehow stack all these drives in a bay so I don't have to swap around the cables when I am looking for an old image, this is just a small inconvenience though to be honest.

I had a flash drive in my mac that died after 1 year. Transcend had a no nonsense attitide to the RMA status and sent out a replacement drive without a fuss. The only downside was the lass of my data but th as it's my fault for not backing up.

I have 2 DrvePro 200's and one developed a fault whereby each time it defaulted to its manufacturing date when it was switched off. I had thought it was"bin fodder" but I contacted Tanscend and received a very prompt reply with a possible solution. I followed their instructions and have a unit which is back to good as new. Thank for your after sales care
Bought a Transcend SSD drive and is a excellent product and highly recommend brand

So pleased to have Transcend’s advice

DO NOT buy from this company. They do not honor their useless warranty and give all kinds of excuses to deny responsibilities for their faulty product. Take a look at their warranty policy. You know are better off buying anything else cheaper with no warranty at all.
