Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 297 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently express significant dissatisfaction with the company's service and customer support. Many find it difficult to communicate with staff, experiencing long hold times, unresponsiveness, and a general lack of helpfulness when issues arise. Reviewers also report chaotic communication, leading to wasted time and unexpected costs, alongside concerns about high pricing for repairs, upgrades, and unfair trade-in valuations. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that the vehicles themselves are highly regarded, praising their driving experience, design, and advanced features. Some reviewers also highlighted positive interactions with specific staff members who provided exceptional service.

Buy a Vehicle - Wait 5 days

When you buy a 30k vehicle you expect to own it the day you purchase. The fact that I have to wait 5 days for a Tesla Representative to approve the documentation for me to be able own the vehicle is absolutely ridiculous. This is a process that should be 24 hours max. It takes someone 30 seconds to review and authorize.

Harassment by Reading, UK

The Reading Centre in the UK is being run like a scam by amateur, insensitive and inexperienced team with no understanding of customer service.

They changed the delivery dates multiple times at short notice after taking the entire payment. Car has not been delivered for over a month and they are setting themselves up to ask for more money despite the delays at their end. The team has been operating like a scam.

The car is amazing but I’m extremely disappointed with Tesla support in Portugal. This is my third Tesla, and I just bought a new car, so I expected a much higher level of service.

My assigned point of contact hasn’t replied to my emails for over 3 weeks. When I call, I’m told she’s on holiday, but there’s no out-of-office message, no backup contact, and no one else able to help. That’s simply unacceptable for a company like Tesla.

When I try to get help by phone, the experience is just as bad. Staff talk over me, don’t listen, and quickly push me to “support,” which is just another line where it’s even harder to communicate. I ended up waiting 45 minutes, asked for Portuguese support, and was connected to someone in English instead.

I was trying to do something simple—merge accounts—but instead I got an email full of unclear requirements that were never explained beforehand. Now I have to call again and go through the same process.

I used to love Tesla support, but now it’s honestly horrible, at least in Portugal. This whole experience has been frustrating, time-consuming, and completely below expectations.

Roadside assistance SUCKS

Their roadside assistance is absolutely horrible. Had a tire blowout on the freeway. Trying to get an answer to towing from teslas roadside assistance service took more than 20 minutes. We were on their live chat feature and it took them 20 minutes to tell us they cannot tow us to a tire shop… only to the Tesla dealership and we would have to leave it there over the weekend. 20 minutes to tell us that. Horrible response times and horrible service policies.

My customer journey has been a disaster. One second your saying my TWC will be sent within 5 days and now they is delays. Its a week with no home charger, I using your local chargers regular but should not have to pay as my charger is under warranty replacement but yet no has commented to refund my 6 weeks of charging after numerous emails. The delays of TWC is not my fault but im the one paying and wasting my time at public chargers.

Amazed at just how poor this company is…

Amazed at just how poor this company is on every level:

Let’s start with my first experience pre-Covid I ordered an approved nearly new S paid the deposit (think it was £4k) and was then awaiting delivery. 6 months and not heard anything. Tried cancelling online, had to ring and took weeks of chasing before I got a refund
I share this as this is an experience I believe is shared by many.

Next, the actual car, recently had the use of both a 3 and a Y.
The build quality - by far the worst of any car I’ve experienced everything creaks, rattles and is very plastic, nothing about it is quality or well put together.
The ride quality - terrible at best - masks all the things you want to feel I/e the road through the steering wheel and then bounces along the road and just feels incredibly unstable anything over 50mph.
The seats are by far the most uncomfortable of any car I’ve ever been in - I last 40 minutes in a Skoda Roomster before my back aches
I’m lucky if I manage 10 in a Tesla.

The windscreen wipers on auto are pointless - worst on any car. - dangerous.

The lane assist is terrible - incapable of staying within the lines. - dangerous.
Even when not activated the lane departure assist will randomly snatch the steering into oncoming vehicles for absolutely no reason - dangerous.

Adaptive cruise - terrible - brakes unnecessarily and unexpectedly constantly. Never experienced that in any other car with ACC - dangerous.

Then there is an endless list of things I just find irritating and frustrating. The wireless charger never works, the most simplistic tasks requires several fiddly button presses on the screen. Settings constantly change back like lane departure assist turns itself on every time, A/C constantly turns itself on.

And finally on the physical car, reliability, 2 weeks with a model 3 and the front motor fails.

Which brings me onto the Tesla centre and customer service, the Glasgow store is in one of the roughest areas I’ve ever been. The old tatty building is giving - cheapest rent available over customer experience.
The staff very much give the impression that as everything should be handled through AI in the app they’re not here to help and don’t wish to speak to you.
The lady who was helping me (who in her defence was lovely) disappeared (while I nipped to the toilet, fair enough), I asked her colleague on the next desk if he knew if she’d be back his response “I’ve no idea, I work on sales she’s on reception” after I explained why I wanted her he did message in the app for her to come and help me but never experienced anything so poor from any business.

The courtesy car was filthy inside, I’ve brought many cars from many brands and always had my own car cleaned inside an out whenever the brands have had my car, my own car, I’ve never been loaned a car that hadn’t been cleaned before - the outside had been cleaned which describes the brand perfectly - only focused on outward reputation when under the surface nothing about the product, the brand or their customer care lives up to the brands image.

In conclusion - worst car(s) I’ve ever driven, worst customer service ever received. My only recommendation is avoid at all cost.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!

Ordered a lease car in the Tesla showroom...no sign two months later...managed to finally get hold of them and they told me it was "on hold" and they'd look into it and call me back. No call back. I messaged them and they said "they will look into it" a week later no response. I chase again on the number they gave me to contact for any issues during the process....no response now to three messages in over a week. 40 minutes on hold...guy answers...can't help me as it's "on hold"...will call you back...NO CALL BACK 🤯🤬😱....these guys literally DO NOT CARE about customers. Going to cancel my order as SO SO BAD!

Customer support NON EXISTENT even PRE delivery when no money handed over.
I can only imagine the lack of support once they have our money.

Reconsidering having our business fleet as Tesla and shocked at such low standards for this brand.

A week later... no answer to my question on live chat despite several chases.

Take your business elsewhere, I will be.

Very poor Tesla communication

Been to two different UK Tesla sites trying to buy certified pre owned model 3 cars. Appointment and test drive organised both times. First time arrived to find car sold with no communication text to me. Second time did receive text but 13 mins before test drive was due. Considering it took me over an hour to drive to both sites Tesla customer service in terms of communication is diabolical. I would expect to be told immediately if a car is sold to prevent me wasting my time let alone expense. Will now buy from a different manufacturer.

I thought I’d save money over time but looking at it- nope. I bought the 2021 M3 and in 2024 and 2025 had to replace the control arms and bushings on all four tires… then out of nowhere with no warning the battery dies at 163000kilometres - 3000 over the warranty. (1850 miles for Americans). That’s a $12000canadian replacement in five years. I only charged to 80 percent almost always except for the odd long trip. Bye bye Tesla. Going somewhere else. No entertaining a discount to fix even though it was so close to the warranty.

Bought a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery

Bought a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery. £375 rebate offered. Received 375 dollars on a virtual card which somehow converts to £277. Spoke to customer service who were incredibly unhelpful just kept repeating it’s loaded in dollars. I explained that is not as advertised. Tried to use the card having had to remove and re add it to my Apple Pay only for it to constantly decline. Short of it is you can’t actually use the rebate and the rebate, certainly in my case, was significantly less than advertised. What a shocking experience.

For balance I would like to share that it came as an unexpected and welcome surprise that a further reward card was sent to me with the balance of the advertised £375. This was followed by a phone call to ensure I had received the additional card and an apology for the error. Fair play and credit where credits due. Thank you.

I really wanted to buy a model 3 but couldn't

I really wanted to buy a model 3 but it just wasn't to be. The Tesla experience is an odd one with most of it done by a central team. There is no negotiation over the vehicle price or the trade-in value of your current car. My car was valued at around £28k by other dealers but Tesla only offered me £22k. I suspect I'm not alone in this regard. Better hopes for the BMWi3.

Consistently poor Delivery service

Tesla seem to have serious issues with their delivery organisation at present: Until they do, I recommend buyers to stay away, unless they are willing to invest significant amounts of time in admin work.

Issues with my order included:

1. Failure to timely report on a problem with the order (colour no longer availabie).

2. Repeated failure to respond to email requests.

3. Unilateral price changes POST order.

4. As a buyer I was forced to deal with many admin matters directly, when This should be done by the delivery team.

4. Requiring the buyer to travel 2 hours to pick up the vehicle, instead of delivering in a location close to home.

The Car itself is very nice, though.

Rude, Arrogant and Absolutely un-helpful support staff

option would have be to give lower rating, I would have. Rude support staff, arrogant responses, highly unhelpful.
They suggest, quick option to contact is live chat.. but live chat is 48 hours response and they respond in 11 - 12 days and that too rudely. Cancelled my order. And thank god, I didn't buy the car.

Update (22-April-2026): Just received a call Tesla, one of the most rude call to salvage a customer. Too sarcastic and demeaning. I would gladly say in big bold - DON'T BUY TESLA. I thank god, that I didn't buy one at this point of time.

Sometimes frustrating

I’ve been a bit surprised to see the low ratings here and although I can empathise with a lot of the comments, overall I can only call it as we found it. So, after numerous EV test drives across a number of manufacturers, Tesla’s cars stood out and felt like an EV that had been designed from the bottom up rather than a conventional car manufacturer playing catch up. I might add that we don’t feel particularly adjacent to the brand as such but it just did what we were looking for better than any other brand in our price range. Admittedly once we’d made our choice of a Tesla Y then the experience did dip somewhat but once we’d adjusted our mindset to Tesla’s sales/delivery approach via an app then we didn’t feel so offended. Yes, it’s lacks a bit of ‘customer service’ and contact can be frustrating but finally after 2 months to’ing and fro’ing we recently took delivery of our Tesla Y at Longbridge UK. The handover and p/ex was slick and unfussy and we are happy with our choice so far. Ask me again after a year or so of ownership but so far so good.

1 Star -- Tesla Mount Kisco Financing…

1 Star -- Tesla Mount Kisco Financing Scam. Ordered a 2026 Model Y. Said my max down payment was $1,500. Tesla
▎ demanded $14,124.39 -- 9x more -- at 13.21% APR. Total cost: $76K for a $54K car. Tesla blamed Santander Bank.
▎ I called Santander. They have NO RECORD of me. Zero. Tesla's own contract names TESLA as the creditor, not
▎ Santander. My husband co-applied -- nothing changed. Not one dollar. Tesla told me to sign the contract first
▎ THEN negotiate. The contract says NO COOLING OFF PERIOD and no oral changes are binding. They wanted $14K
▎ through the app before I even signed. Tesla's contract literally says the APR is negotiable with the Seller.
▎ They control the terms and blame a phantom bank. Filed with CFPB, NY AG, FTC, and DFS. Read your contract
▎ before financing through Tesla.

Trying to speak to a sales advisor…

Trying to speak to a sales advisor about a certified pre-owned vehicle has been incredibly frustrating. It’s almost impossible to get hold of anyone directly. On the rare occasions I do receive a response, it’s often days later, usually just a brief text or call to say the car has already been sold. In many cases, my enquiry isn’t responded to at all.

For a company like Tesla, I expected a far more responsive and customer-focused experience. The current approach makes it feel as though potential customers aren’t a priority, particularly when trying to make what is a significant purchase.

If this is representative of the buying journey, it does raise concerns about the level of support and service afterwards. As things stand, I’m seriously considering exploring other car brands that offer a more accessible and engaging customer experience.
