Avoid this company
Avoid this company! We stayed overnight on Victoria 1 (Helsinki–Tallinn), expecting to rest before our 8 AM departure. Instead, we spent the night listening to loud drilling and grinding through the walls. The vibrations were so intense they shook the bed. To make matters worse, the staff was incredibly dismissive, telling us, 'What do you expect? It’s a ship!
Disappointing Experience with Staff (Nina H.)
I needed to change the time of my cruise due to a transportation delay. I’m visiting from the U.S. and didn’t realize that Bolt rides can take up to 15 minutes to arrive, which caused me to be late.
I arrived about 10 minutes after the boat left and asked if I could switch to the 4:30 PM departure. The attendant, Nina H., was very rude and unwilling to help. She simply said I missed the boat and that was “too bad.”
What’s frustrating is that the website clearly allows you to change your booking time if needed. Despite that, she said it was too late to switch because I had already missed the departure. She also mentioned a policy about arriving 20 minutes early, which doesn’t seem to align with the flexibility offered online.
I ended up having to rebook the 4:30 PM cruise myself on the website.
Overall, really disappointing customer service and lack of support in a situation that could have been handled much better.
I have always been satisfied when…
I have always been satisfied when travelling with Tallink ferries. The ships are clean and comfortable, the staff is professional, and the overall experience is consistently good.
Prices might be a bit on the higher side, but the quality of service clearly justifies the cost. I have no complaints and would definitely choose Tallink again.
Disappointment, Awful and worst experience onboard
It took us ages to reserve a cruise trip on siljeline as their system is so complicated.
Secondly, they do not have a clear information on anything. We faced many challenges while being on cruise to Tallin from Helsinki. Infact we were not even allowed to onboard for some reason. A week later when we got on Victoria, the room given to us was so stinky that we couldn't breath in. Everyone in Siljaline from Customer services line to cruise info were least bothered about our comfort. It could never be a luxury cruise.
Awful experience
Awful experience. Music from night club so loud that it shakes the whole cabin and you can literally hear the lyrics of the songs being played. Sleep was utterly impossible. Batteries for TV remote were dead. Wifi signal was terrible. I will never travel with Silja Line again.
ferry trip was smooth
Took the helsinki-tallin ferry. Boarding was easy and cabins clean. Restaurants were crowded though
We can not sleep because of the sound
We can not sleep because of the sound , the sound of the vibration of the walls. Disaster . I don't recommend it.
Overall excellent
Overall good service. Both customer service over phone and onboard are excellent.i was bit disappointed by reading the negative comments here but in my personal experience it was different and quite happy.
I traveled on the Helsinki-Tallinn…
I traveled on the Helsinki-Tallinn route aboard Victoria 1 and purchased an overnight ferry ticket with a cabin. When I went to bed, I was shocked to find human feces on the wall next to the bed. At first, I didn’t make a big deal out of it, thinking it might just be old stains. However, when I got into bed, I was horrified to see that there was human feces on the sheets as well. I even smelled it, and it wasn’t very old, which makes me seriously question Tallink’s cleaning policies.
Late at night, when you’re exhausted, you expect to be able to go to sleep, but apparently, that’s too much to ask.
My next unpleasant experience happened yesterday when I was traveling by car on the Tallinn-Helsinki route aboard MyStar. At the Tallinn check-in, I was laughed at because my car was missing from my ferry ticket, even though I had paid for it. When I insisted that the car should definitely be included, but with a different license plate that needed to be corrected, they just laughed at me. The check-in cashier said, “Haha, do you really believe that? Look at your ticket—it’s €109. You’ll never get a round trip to Finland for just €50 per way.”
Even though I have excellent corporate discounts and have been a long-term business customer, this kind of behavior seems completely absurd and unprofessional to me. I swallowed my pride and remained polite this time, but adding another €60 to my ticket for a car fare was simply too much. In the past, I’ve often encountered situations where the app made incorrect bookings, but Tallink never admits these mistakes and arrogantly treats its customers. Their attitude is always, “This time, we’ll refund you, but let this be the last time. Next time, you’ll only get the ferry fare back.”
These are just a few examples of Tallink’s arrogance, and over the years, there have been so many that I’ve lost count.
The company should invest in cleaning…
The company should invest in cleaning service.
I'm very loyal customer of Silja as prefer to travel by ship. The last 2 years every 2nd time I had to go to reception and complain about cleaning (Crumbs, liquids, stains, hair). The personel is nice and always help with this. But nothing changes, the rooms are almost always dirty. Unfortunately I can't attach the photos. I hoped for the best and sent the messages to silja, asking to pay attention to it. Today I lost my patience - dirty toilet with yellow drops around...
Never have seen the room in that condition
Appalling
Nowhere to sit, barely even found space on the floor to sit. Full of students everywhere - which is fine but if the ship is going to be this full, limit tickets so everyone can get a seat. I am nearly 50 years old and had to sit for 2 and a half hours on the floor. I felt faint after walking around and around to find a seat. Especially annoying as the business lounge was nearly empty! Appalling service. My teenager has Autism and the crowds and pushing were extremely stressful for them - no service for people with hidden disabilities. People herded like cattle through limited entrances/exit points. Not a nice experience.
Take the plane instead
We took a one way trip Helsinki - Stockholm ferry on 20th December. I’d taken the same trip 25 years ago and it was a blast. How things change! The ferry is just the same, but now very tired and worn out. However, the real problem for us a bit different. We had a concern when the ferry company sent us a text 10 days prior to tell us ‘ a large number of young people would be travelling on our ferry and they hoped it wouldn’t spoil our enjoyment’ They were right to warn us and yes, it did spoil our enjoyment. There was a group of what seemed to be 100 teenage boys. We noticed they were let on the ferry first, like a fast track. By the time we boarded they had taken over the bar and were well on their way to being drunk. We went and sat in the wine bar, much better. By early evening the duty free opened and they made their way in and bought cases of beer. By mid evening they were acting like drunken louts. Their behaviour was so bad we decided to miss any evening entertainment and went to our cabin. The drunken idiots were running up and down the corridors until 3 am. We were so happy to get off the ferry next morning. On returning to the UK I contacted The operator to complain. They couldn’t care less saying they’re not responsible for other peoples behaviour. Interesting they had sent the text warning prior obviously expecting issues. My advice to those considering the ferry - take a flight instead.
Overall bad experience
Just overall bad experience. The cabin was extremely filthy and the personal very rude and totally unwilling to help. Would not recommend.
no internet on modern ship
travelling regularely by tallink. no improvemnens in 2 years. tallink just overpriced. wifi stops working already in departure harbour. new ships without internet. once booked "business" cabin where should be internet. it was a disaster, no internet, had to cancel all my business meetings. other companies just do it better for lower price.
Totally unhelpful customer Totally unhelpful service and poor customer care.service and…
Totally unhelpful customer service and poor policy. Made an error in booking for a special cruise with them on the app and somehow the date changed. Realised the date was incorrect and called them straight away to cancel the booking and they have refused to refund me the money. Because the dat booked is less than 48 hours. They kept quoting "less that it is less than 48 hours" even though I explained it is an error and the booking was just made. Totally unhelpful service and poor customer care.
Staff is very very bad
Staff is very very bad . They are not kind at all. All of them are rasict.

Terrible dirty rooms and awful customer service
I bought Chanel product on Baltic queen…
I bought Chanel product on Baltic queen from discount section and got dirty , dry tester mascara, and it’s totally different product on the package. It means someone from the crew is stealing because it was sealed properly. Also my husband has found black long hairs in our bed lining and towels , which is pretty gross 🤢, and finally my mum had a birthday on 29th of march and when we came to the grill restaurant I told the manager that my mom is having a birthday today, her answer was - we are not allowed candles on the board . I mean really????!!!I haven’t asked for candles but at least small discount or simple”happy birthday “ would have worked just fine ! And of course all people who had birthday’s got their presents and congrats at the show. But her name was never mentioned. She just turned 72 ! Thanks a lot for an unpleasant experience! And ruined evening.
Bad just bad
Good cruises
Great shipping company that has ships cruising between Finland, Estonia and Sweden. Great buffet and a la carte food, nighlife, tax free shopping, etc. Cabins are a bit small for my taste but beds are okay and clean.
