Complaint against Tafelberg Furniture

Complaint against Tafelberg Furniture – Cape Gate
We bought an Elegance portable air conditioner from Tafelberg Furniture (Cape Gate). The original unit stopped working and was returned to the store. It was sent away, confirmed to be faulty, and replaced under warranty with a new unit.
Within 24 hours of using the replacement unit, excessive water started pouring out from underneath the air conditioner. This never happened with the previous unit. We had to grab towels and clean up large amounts of water. I checked the drainage and could not find anything wrong. As the air conditioner continued running, the same issue would occur again within a few hours sudden bursts of water pouring out from underneath the unit. This happened two to three times per day.
Please note:
This issue never occurred with the original unit.
I regularly drained the water from the back as instructed.
I am fully familiar with how to operate this unit the previous one was even used on camping trips without a single issue.

I returned the replacement unit to Tafelberg Furniture and dealt with a staff member named Maria, who informed me that the replacement unit was “out of warranty,” but that she would test it. The unit was taken downstairs to an open area for testing.
Later, Maria phoned me and said she could not find anything wrong with it. I explained that this was not possible and requested that the unit be sent for professional assessment. She refused, and instead instructed me to collect the unit and contact the supplier (a Mr Steve), who would supposedly assess the problem via a WhatsApp video call showing how I use the air conditioner.
I find this approach completely absurd and unprofessional. I refused and requested either a proper assessment or a refund. Maria again refused, stating that a refund or repair was not possible because the replacement unit was “out of warranty,” but that Mr Steve would call me as a favour.
I clearly stated that I was not satisfied with this level of service and reminded her that under the Consumer Protection Act, I am entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund within three months for defective goods. This was simply brushed off.
Based on this experience, I will never do business with Tafelberg Furniture (Cape Gate) or any of their branches again, and I will not recommend them to anyone.
As for Maria’s customer service it was extremely disappointing. She was rude, aggressive, loud, and unpleasant to deal with. This entire experience shows a complete lack of accountability and respect for consumer rights.

Tarryn Lezar from Tafelberg Furnishers…

Tarryn Lezar from Tafelberg Furnishers Parklands does not know what communication means and she ignores your emails. She also forces her will onto you by sending action AFTER hours that even when you reply she ignores it. When you go to personally sort it out, she bans you from the shop. She also refuses to answer simple question and lies about what she told you on the phone. Will never shop from this branch ever again. The trust is supposed to be a ZERO rating because she does not deserve a 1 star.

EXCELLENT SERVICE

Absolutely faultless service! I ordered an oven online and my order was processed efficiently and delivered really quickly, and I live in a remote area. Very impressed with their service. Will definitely be buying from them again.

worst after service ever

Wish there were zero stars it has been the worst after service from the customer support team my sales agent has tried his best but could not assist me he has sent countless emails and none of the customer service team contacted me for months. They sold me a broken Samsung machine and have been sending technicians from Samsung who have not been listening to my complaints and have done empty loads and said that the machine works. But my complaint has been for going on 10 months that the machine does not wash properly after months of having to do 1 load of washing on either pre-wash and in most cases a double wash they say it is a maintenance problem and they will do a drum clean I have done 3 drum cleans but my question remains if I complained the 1st time when the machine was still brand new asking for a replacement and now it is a maintenance problem of a dirty drum they sold me a dirty machine. It took the customer service team from Tafelberg months to give me a call my sales agent has been trying his utmost to get a response from them and has been asking them to call me. The biggest mistake of my life tafelberg does not give after-purchase customer service please be very careful purchasing anything from them.

No response before Christmas for invoice

How cow. My go to store for a former employee I bought all the appliances from for 3 complexes. No response for invoice before from Northgate. Unfortunately her name is Denise. Bar fridge on discount online on special. R500 off online. No response from her when asking about online prices. No negotiation and bad review for collaboration between online and in store once again. Like it's a war. Any way you two sections can work together. Unfortunately the former consultant passed away leaving a huge hole in efficiency of the hopeful true best after sales service furniture business in Cape Town. Possible someone can resurrect this company to former glory

Do Not Buy At Tefelberg Furnishers

Thanks for taking my call and reading me Tefelberg Furnishers riot act. Did I read the fine print of the "Extended warranty" No! Is Tefelberg Furnishers misleading their customers, yes.

The definition of Extended: lasting longer than is usual or expected; prolonged. Tefelberg Furnishers meaning is a new contract with different terms altogether. To be exact, repair not replace.

Herein are the facts, all of which you should be aware of, have on record

* We bought a Bosch fridge
* The fridge was problematic
* Tafelberg replaced it

We were given the option of choosing another fridge to the same value or the same fridge. Having been told that the fault on the fridge was not common we chose to take the same fridge, the last one you had on the floor with the model having been discontinued. In the last +/- 12 months, I need to confirm the dates the fridge has been "repaired" 3 to 4 times. The exact same problem we had with the first fridge that was replaced.

"The "Extended warranty" you upsell your clients says Tafelberg will repair, not replace which you have failed to do with the same fault coming back time and time again.

I would like the fridge replaced now, as Tefelberg Furnishers has been unable to repair the fridge honouring the contract, having been given 3 opportunities to do so.

I regrettably purchased a second fridge, dishwasher and kettle just a week ago. In fact all our appliances are from Tefelberg Furnishers.

Tafelberg La Lucia, avoid at all costs

Tafelberg La Lucia is refusing to take back a new washing machine that doesn't power on sometimes. Their customer care department is totally incompetent and the manager can't be bothered to get involved. Bottom-line, stay away.

Tafelberg had good service - not anymore

Tafelberg a few years was good with excellent service. With me buying multiple items with a sales lady who is no more with us the response is not urgent at all. Made an online payment a few days back of a few thousand rand and heard nothing after 2 emails one call and person said they would phone back. Waited the whole day. Actually given up so I am writing this review. Northgate branch in Cape Town actually.

5 star experience from start to finish. Website chat staff are super responsive and provide accurate information. Such a pleasure to complete a recent online purchase with promises kept in terms of communication and delivery. Customer- centric delivery staff to boot!!
