I'm a Health Insurance Agent and this is screwballs....

I am a licensed Health Insurance Agent in the state of NY and I when I call to ask a question on billing, I am given 3 different explanations, 2 of which are not even legal billing practices in the state. ie - 'pricing' is based on the doctor, and location. So you could see the same doctor in 2 different locations and have 2 different copays. Really??? You are invited to look this up ahead of time, to 'avoid' unexpected bills... but the rates listed are not what you are charged. And no one at Surest really understands if there is such as thing as in network or out - or how we would find out those bills ahead of time. Each time I call I am on hold for 30 min. No joke. While they get a supervisor to answer a billing question. About billing. It's ridiculous. Another problam, many times you go to an appointment at a large clinic and get a different doctor, so how does that pricing work? or if they need to run tests - apparently you have to hop on the app with the codes before you get the tests to see what the pricing is in that clinic. Really? And if its cheaper down the road are we supposed to hop on down and go somewhere else? Specific issue - this tells it all: Surest website telling me $80 for the doctor. Ok, my bill says Surest made them knock the bill from $300 to $105 (they call this an adjustment), they pay $5 and I am on the hook for $100??? Not even the $80 on the website.
Surest is sure making money, but we are going broke with no real transparency. So sad that this is who FEDEX trusts with their employee health plans.

The worst insurance I have ever had

The worst insurance I have ever had. You check their website and you that a specific doctor will cost $40. You think to yourself “ok, not that expensive”, but you end up paying much much more. Stay away from Surest.

Shocked: Not Bad So Far

I was worried about switching toSurest under United, but so far it's actually been saving me a ton on most of my doc visits. One specialty rx went up in price, but mostly everything else went down. The secret to Surest is that you need to research everything (doctors, medications, etc). But you should be doing that anyway, unfortunately it's a requirement under our systems in the US no matter what insurance you have.

I'm new to Surest - first experience wasn't so great

I'm new to Surest, having always had a PPO plan. I decided to give this a try due to lower monthly payments and price transparency. Yesterday, I had a need to look on my app for a virtual visit. On the Surest app it said that Teladoc was a $0 payment. I scheduled the visit and was told it was a $54.00 payment. When I contacted Surest, they said that it was in fact a $0 visit; the money collected up front, once Teladoc learned of my cost for the visit would be refunded to me. No idea of when. It's truly false advertising to say this visit would cost me $0, then be charged $54.00 with no anticipated timeframe to receive this money back. I will now question any cost I see on the app before proceeding.

Shady, Unclear, Unavailable

Everything is out of network. Only obscure, cheap and inefficient doctors and facilities are in network, and the copay for decent primary care? 75+. I regret ever even thinking of joining this atrocity of an insurance product. Should have thought better than to think a United Health”care” product would be good. Avoid like the plague. Because if you catch it while under this awful system, you’ll pay out the rear for it.

Claims getting lost in system

I've been waiting for claims that have been sent twice to Surest from Sutter Health to even being acknowledged that they have received them. Now that I am not a member I feel like the customer service managers are not figuring out where the claims are even at. My phone calls have been going on for 2 months now. Another claim from Sutter health seems to have been lost in Surest's Export port, whatever that means. Surest UHC was my companies group health plan so that's why I had them. Now I'm getting no where with my claims and it's very very stressful.

Surest is an absolutely horrid company

This is an absolutely horrid company. Every paycheck they take about half for the insurance, they cover nearly nothing and struggling to pay the 100 dollars on meds. Doctor visits cost between 30-100 something dollars. Every two weeks they take half my paycheck... the only company that was available for me at the time through work

Do not go with Surest, you will regret.

Worst healthcare plan EVER

Worst healthcare plan I have ever been on. Horrible customer service. This plan is outright stealing from customers. They deny claims. Loose claims. Refuse to respond to appeals. Surest = Fraud!!!!

High Cost for Procedures!!

The monthly cost is lower than the old insurance I had, but the cost for copays or procedures are so high that you are much better off with the plan with the higher monthly cost. Not been a good experience. I will be switching back as soon as possible.

Fluctuating Prices

I was intrigued by Surest because of the transparency pricing, but recenly I noticed I was getting charged more than what I had saw. I thought I was tripping at first, so I paid.. but when this happened a 2nd time, I knew it was the system changint he pricing on me. They first keep things cheap, and then change the prices slowly higher so you get charged more. It went from $5 copay for an office visit, then to $50, and then went down to $25 without me even doing anything? Its so bizzare.. I cant wait to get on another health plan! This put a terrible taste in my mouth.

Don't make the switch to Surest

Don't make the switch to Surest, I switched last year to try it out through my employer, had nothing but issues. Needing prior approval for things I didn't need it for in the past, all the research is on your side (which can be good, but you'll be in for more than what you expect). I'll be switching back to a traditional health insurance. Surest is a "United Health Care" company, it seems this is their bottom of the barrel attempt to save money.

I'd give them a zero if I could

I'd give them a zero if I could. Simple out-of-network claim turned into (at last count) at least 10 phone calls. Was told claim processing takes 30 days. After 30 days, was told 45 days. Then it jumped to 90 days! Even the representatives cannot reach "Tier 2" supervisors. Currently on hold and it has been 45 mins. for this call...so far.

I’m a sole proprietor metal health…

I’m a sole proprietor metal health professional. They seem to keep “losing” my claim submissions. I am owed over $1000 right now, and I am about to bill and terminate my clients on this plan. I can not afford to provide free care, and it takes hours to reach anyone at provider services, and they are not helpful.

WORST PLAN EVER

WORST PLAN EVER. I work for a company that focus's on rural health care but us as employees have to travel quite a distance to get care we can afford. I have nothing good to say for this (Except my labs have all been free) I work at a doc's office and was getting care at hospital across the parking lot. An MRI here now is $950 but if I drive an hour away, I can get it for $250. Not convenient to have to take pto to go get health care. I was seeing a doctor in the office that I work at where I only paid a $25 copay, now with this crappy insurance, it is $100. The pain clinic I seen here for severe spinal stenosis was a $50 copay previously and now it would cost me $135!! I hope our company offers better insurance next year. Do your research

Unhappy Provider

I'm with a provider's office & the overseas agents are horrible! They literally have 2 claims of mine, received 1/30/25 & still aren't processed correctly. Saying medical notes are needed BUT they don't request them. Telling us the claim will process in 3-5 business days...here I am 14 business days later waiting on payment!

Surest a United Healthcare Company - a disgrace to UHC

Surest - a United Healthcare Company.
They have the worst practices to delay paying the providers on time, specially if you as a provider are sending them a manual copy. Keep a color copy of the completed form you are mailing as they would say the NPI info is not in the right column or is not in the center of the column. Any excuse to delay your payment. Finally when you get hold of an agent , they would do you a "favor" by confirming your info is there, and take another 30 to 45 days processing it. It's frustrating that this has happened a couple of times.

Avoid if you're wanting IVF

I've been trying to find out my coverage for IVF for over 55 days, no one can tell me literally ANYTHING about it. I've had specialist assigned, the chat feature, multiple emails, calls, multiple people telling me they'd call me back no one does. The small info I have is wrong and they apologize. Its only Feb with this new company and it's already nothing but headaches. The staff doesn't even understand the coverage.
