Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 52 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found it difficult to reach a real person, often encountering long wait times, unhelpful interactions, and repeated transfers without resolution. Customers frequently reported issues with claims, including denials, significant delays, and concerns that their cases were mishandled. Additionally, many faced problems with accessing their own money, such as blocked accounts, delayed transfers, and difficulties paying bills. However, some customers also noted significant and unexplained increases in their insurance premiums, sometimes by large percentages without clear justification. Conversely, a small portion of people felt satisfied with their experience, praising prompt service, efficient claims handling, and finding the company easy to deal with.

Suncorp Car Insurance

Hi everyone, whoever is reading this review. Please never ever buy the insurance from Suncorp. If you read this review and still buy. You would remember this review one day and regret. I wish i could rate them -100. I can't explain the pain I went through dealing with them. Paid $256 a month for comprehensive insurance, 6 month from the date made a claim, still not finalised. It was simple claim where another car hit from behind. White collar scammers.

Online banking with Suncorp is a total nightmare

Online banking with Suncorp is a total nightmare. set aside many hours just to access your account
. Constant messages that the site does not recognise your log in details, reset customer Id and passwords multiple times then have to request a token from a different app and have 1 minute to switch back to banking app and submit. Cannot wait to transfer all my funds out but may take a century with daily limits and setting aside half a day just to do one transfer.

Car Insurance

Car Insurance, they reduced the value of my 2021 Hilux by $8400 and said it was depreciation, at that rate the car will be worth $5000 in 5 years, but it gets better they upped the premium by $200. I asked why and that's when the lies came to cover up the only work i can think of for them...theft. Oh sir it is because of the statistics. So i asked for those statistics to be supplied to me from last year to now and explain the $200 increase. Oh sir we can't give those to you.... RIGHT THERE PEOPLE is the lies we are told by SUNCORP. They can make up any bulldust they like and not supply a proven reason for a rise in premiums. I went elsewhere and got the original agreed price of 55k for $810 & $400 excess as opposed to 46k for $1045 @ $400 excess. Shop around this lot is at best Snake-Oil-Merchants who cannot back up the lies told on the phone by brainwashed kids. In my opinion i am being lied to because SUNCORP cannot show me a tangible reason for the drop in value and the rise in premiums, there is no other way i can think about them.

My account has been deactivated and…

My account has been deactivated and under investigation, no one from Fraud department will take my call and advised customer support to tell me to wait for their call. Have followed up with emails, no answer. They tell me my money is safe but I can’t access it. Looks like only way to get an answer is to report to AFCA.

Horrific service from your claims…

Horrific service from your claims department! The agent refused to put me through to a manager! IT IS MY RIGHT TO ASK FOR A MANAGER WHEN I FEEL THE AGENT IS NOT LISTENING TO ME OR DOING THEIR JOB! We have only been with suncorp for a few months! I will move everything, home loan, car insurance, company account , EVERYTHING IF THIS IS THE SERVICE. We have had to explain the same issue over 6 times to different agents because of your system! And every time, the agents don't have a clue what they are doing or talking about! Get agents that actually understand the industry and don't read off a script, and actually listen to what the PAYING client is saying! And then the agent cut the call while holding for the manager!

NOT Crypto friendly

I wanted a savings account. Part of my savings strategy is investing in crypto, which I have been doing for several years. When I tried to deposit some funds to my exchange, the transaction was cancelled, and my account was put on hold. Several phone "help" desk calls later I was told to re-confirm my identity at the branch. When I did so, I was put on the phone with the "fraud" squad who told me "Suncorp does not condone crypto in any way and we will be terminating your account effective immediately, how would you like your funds?"

Crypto is the future, the banks can stand in front of the stampede at their own peril.

Skyrocketing premiums

Land Lord Insurance - Skyrocketing premiums

2022 - $450 Per annum
2023 - $752 Per annum - Increase of 67%
2024 - $1,265 Per annum - Increase of 68%
2025 - $2,364 Per annum - Increase of 87%

On top of this I get some lippy attitude laden call centre individual called Debbie when I called up to speak to someone about reviewing the premium. Good bye Suncorp, I'll be taking this and the other 4 policies I have with you away, clearly you don't need my business.

Suncorp will STEAL your bank card!

I used my non Suncorp ATM card today to withdraw cash from a Suncorp ATM, and the machine swallowed my card. I went into the branch to ask for their help and I was informed that they couldn’t retrieve my ATM card because it wasn’t a Suncorp card, however if it was a Suncorp bank card they may have been able to!! I was flat out refused assistance and told that I would have to contact my bank and report my card as lost!! Absolutely appalling customer service, and absolutely no accountability taken for the fact that Suncorp literally stole my card!!!

This bank is legitimately the worst…

This bank is legitimately the worst bank I've ever had the pleasure of banking with. Their systems are pathetic, their user experience is crap, their customer support are probably fed up because their processes are incredibly dumb, and in the 2 years I've had my home loan with them, they've done NOTHING to improve any of this. Now, when moving my OWN money out of my accounts to another one of my OWN accounts, they've completely blocked and cut access to my internet banking and all of my money. Not only that, I have called 4 times and spent over an hour on the phone to them to try to get them to fix this. First two times waiting took too long. Then this morning the first customer service rep hung up on me while she was mid sentence asking me a question, THEN I called back again and "the fraud detection team don't start until 9am" so now I need to call back a FIFTH time. Do these people think others just have all day to sit on the phone to Suncorp for problems with their own bullshit processes? They have no regard nor care for the value of their customer's time.

My advice is stay away from this bank. Any other bank in the country is better than Suncorp, literally, and I've banked with CBA, Westpac, Bank SA, Macquarie, ING, NAB, Bank Australia etc. They're ALL infinitely better than Suncorp, in every single way.

Is your money safe from scammers, even banks go alo g with them

I cancelled my direct debit with EziDebit more than 2 months ago. Also blocked them on my Bank Account. But this is how disgusting this company is I noticed a Direct Debit again today. When I contacted my bank I was told that EziDebit get around blocks by debiting under a different name. So they change the name to EziDebitblock account and they can continue into the future continuously changing their name slightly and SUNCORP BANK told me that this is quite legal for them to do that. The only advise SUNCORP could give me was to keep my fingers crossed and hope it doesn't happen again, yes I agree that's not a reassuring advise from a bank but I was pretty much told if in doubt close my account and reopen a new account until I guess the next time I need to give my account details to make a purchase and then close the new account and open up another account. I use the card for online shopping at Coles and many other stores I got a feeling ill soon get tired of closing & opening bank accounts to keep them safe. Did anyone else realize their money is absolutely not safe from fraud in the bank or is it just suncorp.

Most incompetent banking systems i've experienced ever

I have a mortgage with them, and have had this mortgage refinanced to them about 5+ months ago. I've also wanted a mortgage offset feature added to my account, havent had it yet, they dont seem to want to give it to me either. It's a unit i've been paying off for a decade.

But the latest debacle has me pissed. They just declined me, after ~2 months of giving me the runaround (i work night shift, and talk for a living, i dont like phone calls but make them when i have to and have the time), declined me for a CC without giving me a reason.

I've had CC's since i was 18, i don't max them out, i dont have any debt other than the mortgage, i own my own car, they dont share any data between their mortgage team and all other banking systems on their platform (6+months later i received an email claiming that they no longer operate this way internally, whatever), and so they required me to resend data they already possessed and jump through hoops for no reason. Maybe the reduced pay in my payslips i gave them was the cause? (i had bronchitis and lost alot of work that month, but it was clearly displayed in the slips that it was unpaid sick leave, so unless their tech support are unable to understand a simple thing like "unpaid sick leave" as an unusual-scenario, its a skill issue)

On top of that, getting screwed around with impotent call centre staff (that are often very indian) that don't seem to be allowed to do what you ask them to. Its infuriating, i have things i need sorted, i don't want to have to login to separate banking systems just to get a functional credit card, i HATE the time wasting that happens, and the lack of transparency. I've been with multiple banks over the years, this is easily the worst experience i've ever had. Westpac were also mediocre on the admin side but nothing on this scale.

"Lucky we're with AAMI"(Suncorp, AAI)

We "were believers " That full comprehensive car insurance was a peace of mind that gave us a safety net should an accident, theft, fire, etc occur.
After having submitted a full federal Police check, bank statements, income statement, driving history, phone records (including txt and call with full explanation of name of person, reason for contacting them) as an entree welcome to suncorp fraud and investigation after our car was stolen.
Not having submitted a claim before I certainly wasn't ready for the next 5 months of stress and worry to what is now closed and not paying due to a breech of their act of not declaring prior damage .
Now we are currently working with the ombudsman to settle this matter to what I might portray as the lousiest onset of just a chaoitic nightmare of being left in the dark.
Without revealing too much I had an suspicion of "should have read the fine print " but started recording the conversations with suncorp and feel quite confident in handing over our evidence of what is the facts and events of our car being stolen and still cant get my head around cosmetic damage (which as we finally found out upon seeing the photos) has the least bit to do with the theft?
I must add that they were fantastic to extend the hire car for over a hundred days Thankyou AAMI for that what .
We will certainly keep you posted upon the final dealings which is to be submitted in 4 days and either way will be a closure of this chapter of our lives we will never forget and certainly would not be taking out any policy in the future without reading the fine print.

They will screw you when it comes time…

They will screw you when it comes time to pay out. It's been over 3 weeks since they got the car and an external assessment that it was written off and its value. They still haven't assigned an internal assessor to review it yet.
I talked to others and they said when it comes to paying out, Suncorp Insurance is the slowest.

I've lodged 3 complaints, and it is marked as ultra high priority, for over a week, but still no action.

If you have an accident, expect them not to pay you for at least a month. If you only have one car and can't afford to just buy a second car with spare cash, you will be f###ed..That is how they treat their loyal customers.

never use suncorp and suncorp's partners

Unfortunately, there's no option to give a zero-star rating here! Suncorp Insurance (including AAMI, GIO, and AAI—all the same under different names) fails to provide quality service for customers and car repairs. You have the option to choose your own repairer or go with their recommended repairer. However, if you choose your own, Suncorp often neglects to support the customer and seems to avoid providing assistance. When customers request information, Suncorp frequently refuses to share it. The only solution to this issue seems to be involving the ACCC, Fair Trading, or other relevant consumer protection services.

Don’t insure your home with GIO

I’ve had a terrible time with GIO insurance after my home was flooded. They wouldn’t investigate a cracked pipe under ground although I pointed it out to the claims team on the house plans at the outset. GIO did no physical inspections, denied the claim and said i should do my own investigation! I got a plumber to find the pipe but GIO won’t pay the cost of this. Looks like a scam in their claims system forcing the insured to pay to find the cause. Complaint to the regulator on foot.

Awful customer experience

Awful customer experienceAwful customer experience. Spent ages trying to register the card on-line and then using the phone banking system. Absolutely awful an extremely long mean system to get through to the call centre. Once the problem was identified (the card was allocated to a parallel account) they put me through to customer service. After waiting on the phone for an extraordinary period of time the call disconnected immediately someone came on the line. I then had to go through the whole menu system again. Finally the problem was identified and I was told that they would escalate the matter to a resolution but despite saying that it would be done so urgently they said 5 business days

Suncorp is the most useless bank I have…

Suncorp is the most useless bank I have ever been with. I have broken down a 2 hour drive from home and can't access my money. Now I have to walk 5 hours to get home cause I can't order a lift or get a tow. Genetic cul-de-sacs!! This is disgusting behaviour from a bank!!! The person I spoke to on the phone couldn't do anything either. I had money transferred into my account using osko and because there system is so rooted my bank account shows empty when I know it's not..... I'm leaving Suncorp, they are way too stressful and not even a real bank as far as I'm concerned now. What's the point in a bank that won't allow you to access your money when you need it? What do I pay account keeping fees for? So you can screw me around? "We are going to make it impossible to get any of your money....that will be a 5 dollars in account keeping fees". Once I have access again I'm closing my accounts with them, burning the cards and wait for the day they get shut down so I can Deficate on their grave. Worst bank ever!!!.
