Sony don't care about you!

I am now on my FOURTH set of Sony headphones! All purchased via Currys. The latest two have been WH1000XM4. The first pair stopped accepting a charge just outside Warranty. Curry told me that I had to send them back. I did. Sony 'claimed' the charging port was waterlogged. I explained this was impossible as they've never been anywhere near water, but no, Sony refused to help. Now the second pair have also stopped in exactly the same way. Currys tell me that they have to send them back to Sony for repair despite the Consumer Goods Act 2015 stating specifically that my contract is with Currys! The Sales person even tried to tell me it was "nothing to do with Currys"! Having looked online it is blatantly clear that these headphones have a generic charging issue, but nobody either cares or wants to take ownership of the problem. We as consumers are now treated like fools, and unless we are prepared to go to the full (expensive) lengths that the law requires then we are ignored. And even if we do litigate it won't make them fix the original issue. They just keep churning their faulty products out with no restrictions!
Don't buy Sony, and certainly don't buy from Currys!

Broken agreement and then discount cheating...!

Order DK00006038 Case-ID: 28846270

Short summary:

SONY promises on March 16th to send a headset for free based on the purchase of 2 Xperia1 VIIs, BUT then SONY breaks and walks away from this promise on the 25th.

What a scam!

So follows correspondence of 10 emails:

SONY instead offers a discount per headset of DKK 325 below what I, and everyone else, can achieve with a package purchase on Sony Store.

If SONY respectfully, responsibly and fairly returns to the mutually agreed agreement of the 16th, to "send a free headset with 2 x 50 = 100% combined discount", I will feel like an ambassador customer again and delete this review or change it s lot.

Background:

CASE ID: 28846270 of 2026-03-16:

We have bought many of SONY's mobiles and have often received a free headset. Most recently we have bought 2 flagship phones that qualify for a bundle discount of 3449 DKK, but do not need 2 headsets, at most 1, but we would like to keep the 'earned discount'.

SONY's customer support specialist promised in a friendly phone conversation that 1 pc. headset WH1000XM6 (Platinum Silver) was in stock and would be sent to me free of charge to the same address as the order DK00006038 for 2 pcs. Flagship mobile Xperia1 VII

The headset would be shipped via SONY's marketing function within 48 hours, as a specially agreed variant of the qualifying purchase of DKK 22,400 and as a specially agreed "package discount" of 2 x 50% = 100%.

During the phone conversation, steps in the agreement was confirmed several times with a senior employee, while the call was paused, stock checked and freight details agreed.

I now just had to wait some days, and the headset would appear in my mailbox.
BUT It did not arrive even after 8 days.

It is therefore customer "fraud" when I am informed on the 25th that SONY is in the most unreasonable way breaking and running away from a clear agreement.

SONY writes on my request, the free headset is not to be sent anyway ... !
I am missing wordings for this SONY.

The next scam is a correspondence of 10 emails next 10 days, where SONY offers various vouchers of much less value than the qualified 2 x 1724 DKK and ignores that I need the discount on 1 and not 2 headsets.

Furthermore, during the period of correspondence, SONY lowers the market price of the WH1000XM6 on-ear headset from 3449 DKK to 2799 DKK.

So the order now in principle qualifies for 2 package discounts far above the current recently reduced market price.

Even that fact is ignored by SONY, despite several emails about it.

Instead of offering a discount voucher on the new market prices and discount packages, 2 x 1399 = 2799 DKK, SONY ultimately offers 1 discount voucher of 1074 DKK!!! that gives a discount 325 DKK below what everyone else can get.

Alternatively, we could better return the 2 phones and buy them again and be entitled to 2 x 1399 DKK discount.

SONY is again trying to cheat the customer who bought for 22400 kr.

SONY, wake up and keep your promise, rather send a headset for free as originally promised, keep your word, and do it ASAP.

PS:
In Denmark you can only buy Xperia1 VII in Sony Store, non shops, and customer service is in UK in english only.

Shockingly poor durability and even worse customer support

I’ve always considered Sony a premium brand, but my experience with the WF‑1000XM4 earphones and Sony’s repair service has completely destroyed that impression.

My £200 WF‑1000XM4 earbuds lasted just 2.5 years before both batteries suddenly failed, a widely‑reported issue with this model. These aren’t “well‑worn” or mistreated earphones; they went from working perfectly to lasting 30 minutes per charge overnight.

When I sent them to Sony for inspection, the diagnosis was exactly what thousands of other customers have documented: both batteries had completely failed. Sony’s answer? A repair quote of £144, later reduced to £120, more than the cost of buying a new pair. That alone is insulting.

But what truly shocked me was the total lack of goodwill or accountability from Sony.

Despite this being a known, widespread failure and despite the device clearly not meeting any reasonable expectation of durability for a premium product:

- Sony refused to offer a free repair
- Refused to acknowledge the well‑documented battery issue
- Refused to provide any meaningful support
- And after escalating the case, repeated the same “out of warranty = not our problem” line
It took Amazon, not Sony, to provide any support at all, and even they were surprised by Sony’s stance.

To add insult to injury, Sony took days to reply to basic emails, gave contradictory information, and provided no sense that they care about customers who purchase their so‑called “flagship” audio products.
In the end, I requested my earphones back unrepaired. Sony confirmed they would waive fees, something they should never have tried to charge in the first place, given the nature of the fault.

I will never purchase another Sony audio product again.

The WF‑1000XM4 is plagued with battery issues, Sony knows it, and their support process shows zero interest in standing behind their products or treating loyal customers fairly.

If you’re considering buying Sony earphones:

Save yourself the money, frustration, and wasted time. Buy from a brand that actually stands behind their products.

£4000 FLAGSHIP TV IS JUNK TRASH!!! - AVOID SONY LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

I've had their flagship £4000 Sony KD65-AF9 TV for years I cant tell you how HORRENDOUS this piece of JUNK TRASH is!!!!!

There is a known fault with faulty hardware (the EMMC) and many of the TV's have this faulty junk trash hardware component.

Mine was one of them and most repair places couldn't even fix it because it's a highly technical and specialised thing to fix. It requires the dumping of the old, faulty EMMC and re-flashing with a working one. VERY FEW PEOPLE CAN EVEN DO IT. It cost me hundreds of pounds to fix it after mine broke.

When it is working the media player is absolute TRASH - many video files simply will not play. Any fast forwarding or rewinding makes the audio and video go out of sync and stutter terribly tot he point where its totally unwatchable.

The only way to correct it is restart the video. After it starts stuttering sometimes it refuses to play the same video it was just playing - it just gets stuck and says "video cannot be played".

You have to start playing a different video, then go back to the other one you actually want to play to get it unfrozen.

In addition to having JUNK TRASH FAULTY HARDWARE - The TV is the WORST PIECE OF JUNK TRASH I HAVE EVER USED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

Sony USED to be a respectable brand - NOT ANY MORE!!!!!!!

NEVER IN MY LIFE WILL I BUY A PIECE OF FAULTY JUNK TRASH SONY PRODUCT AS LONG AS I LIVE!!!!

AVOID SONY LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

DO NOT BUY THEIR TRASH PRODUCTS!!!!!

Review:11-month-old product failed—ignored since Feb 25th

Review:
I am extremely disappointed with the service from Sony UK. I purchased a product directly from their online store, and it has developed a fault after only 11 months of use. Despite the product still being under warranty and protected by the UK Consumer Rights Act, Sony has been incredibly difficult to deal with.
After multiple escalations, their "senior team" has refused a replacement or refund, insisting that a repair is the only option. I sent a formal response on February 25th to resolve this, and nearly a month later,

Finally resolved today , new bravia fitted thank you
Brilliant 👍

I'm never buying Sony again

I'm never buying Sony again. There's a gap in non-warranty service along the central South coast. I called Sony for help and they pointed me to their official service network but when I called the two recommended agents they both said they do not cover my postcode. My HT-A9M2 surround sound is now heading for the bin as I can't get it repaired without driving hundreds of miles. Shame on you Sony for becoming so useless. All glossy advertising but no aftersales service anymore.

Sony earbuds xm4's…

My Sony earbuds xm4's had the right hand side battery depleting very quickly.
It is a known issue that only started occurring after the warrenty ran out.
Sent them to be fixed expecting a £40 bill for a battery. No they want £145 and are charging me for both ear pieces. The pisstake is they are selling them new and or reconditioned for under £100 on Amazon.
The customer service rep called Tracy is now not responding to emails. After having numerous Sony products including PlayStations and TVs before now, I think this will be the last Sony product I ever buy.

Sony Bravia Android TV. Awful.

This is easily the worst TV I have ever owned. Bitterly regret buying it. Laggy, stuttering, needs constant rebooting. Takes upwards of 10 minutes to populate the EPG, it’s completely unusable before that. Unresponsive remote. Sometimes turns itself off as soon as you turn it on.
The sound and picture stutters and hangs.
Quite often loses BBC HD channels altogether and has to be retuned.
Sometimes reboots, sometimes reboots to safe mode without rhyme or reason.
Decent picture quality but what use is that with all these problems?
Never again.

Two pairs failed in under 2 years—Premium price, zero durability.

I am writing this to warn others about the Sony WF-1000XM4 headphones. I didn’t just have one pair fail; I bought two separate pairs (one for myself and one for my wife) and both have developed the exact same battery drain defect within 2 years.

To have £400+ worth of hardware become electronic waste in such a short window is unacceptable. Even worse is Sony’s refusal to take ownership. Despite this being a globally documented issue, Sony Support simply hides behind legal loopholes, directing customers to the retailer rather than standing by their engineering.

A reputable brand would acknowledge a systemic fault and support their customers. Sony has chosen to do the opposite, providing only generic troubleshooting links and a "not our problem" attitude.

I will never purchase another Sony product. If you’re considering these, be warned: you are buying a product with a built-in expiration date and a manufacturer that will disappear the moment things go wrong.

Product: 2x WF-1000XM4

Issue: Systemic Battery Failure / Inherent Defect

Ably assisted by their distribution…

Ably assisted by their distribution partners DPD Local, Sony UK Online Store have achieved spectacular levels of incompetence. I ordered an item on 13 Feb for delivery on 14 Feb. The courier tried to deliver it to a different postcode. The explanation was that line 2 of my address was missing - yet the postcode was correct and they had my phone number and could have called me, which would have solved the problem. Instead, I got a "Sorry we missed you" text. I went back online and used the "Safe Place" field to add the missing address line and my what3words location. They tried to deliver it on 15 Feb and we had a repeat performance - wrong postcode/"Sorry we missed you." I arranged delivery again for 16 Feb. After 3 ignored attempts to contact Sony online, I called Sony on 16 Feb and was told they would send the correct details to DPD Local and I would receive the item on 17 Feb. I received no notification about this - on 17 Feb the tracker was saying they would deliver on 16 Feb. I called Sony again and was told that the item was being returned to their warehouse and would then be returned to me, via DPD Local again. That would add another 3 days to the delivery process, making it a week late - not great for a next day promise. I lost all faith in Sony at this point and requested a cancellation. They then added insult to injury by saying they would wait until the item reached their warehouse before crediting my card and the refund would take 3-5 working days to complete. No wonder Amazon have grown so much!

I purchased a Sony XR-55A95L TV from…

I purchased a Sony XR-55A95L TV from Richer Sounds in November 2024 which came with a 6 year warranty, 5 years from Sony for the first 5 years and the last remaining year covered by Richer Sounds themselves. The TV was initially set up, and once completed the TV confirmed "Thank you for registering" Fast forward 15 months and the TV has developed a fault with the sound. I contacted Sony Customer Services to report the fault, to be told it's out of warranty and that I didn't register the product within 90 days, which requires going on to their website to register for the 5 year warranty! Ok, I hold my hands up to making a mistake with the registration, but it's not very clear, especially when the TV confirmed being registered! But the worst part of this experience is with Sony, and how completely unhelpful they are! Their unwillingness to consider a late registration, the attitude of their call centre operatives is nothing short of shocking, certainly something I didn't expect from what I'd considered a premium brand and one that I have been a loyal customer of for many, many years. The lack of empathy has completely tarnished my opinion of Sony and as such, I will never ever purchase another Sony product ever again! Congratulations Sony on how you look after your loyal consumers?
