Simple Practice has made lots of improvements lately but gosh do they feel expensive. The platform isn’t bad though.

I am a sole proprietor with a MH practice. I have been using SP for about 5 years now. I have not had one technical issue with this platform. It has streamlined my entire practice from initial appointment through submitting claims and payment adjustments. They continuously add features and helpful updates. I typically don’t write reviews but I have been so impressed with this product. I highly recommend!!
Technical support cannot do their job. The software is very buggy and when you report a problem they say they have it in the queue and will let you know when it is fixed. Then they mark the problem or request as "solved". So many things go wrong and so many things are unresolved. I feel sorry for the people who field the complaints knowing they will never provide satisfaction.
Our business is trying to merge our existing operating system with simple practice. It has been extremely complicated! Countless emails with simple practice between the owner and employees while trying to run the day to day business tasks has been incredibly frustrating. What was promised to be simple has not only cost way too much money, but also time that we don't have to spend. We started this process in March and now it's the end of June and simple practice is still not up and running. Customer service is unacceptable, it is very hard to reach anyone and we go round and round trying to get a solution for each and every issue. We have many families who come in to our business for appointments and we were told that you cannot have duplicate phone numbers in simple practice. Our client families often share one phone number for each individual. I do not recommend simple practice, it is definitely NOT simple!
So I signed up for this software a month ago and had fun trying it out. Everything checked out. When the trial ran out, I purchased a month for 55$ and filed an insurance claim on 2 appointment dates for a patient. Later that day, my son added his Chime account to the Online Billing setting of our control panel, and it said we were verified. The next day, we received an e-mail saying our account was "under review", and today we got notified that our account was being terminated with no refund. These people didn't even give an explanation.
Recent experience with customer service don't expect any help for the issue you have at hand, and if you ask for clarification the next response will take two to three days , and guess what the clarification is just the same thing written before.
They charge money to handle customer service situations. The customer service is horrible. There are no options to any of ones financial information if you leave your position.
Bottom line- none of your information is yours unless you are the administrator of the account.
Simple Practice are incredibly unprofessional and dishonest. I started the free trial, however, at the end I was still contemplating if I wanted to continue the platform, so I decided to cancel. They still charged my credit card and refused to refund my money.....super sketchy. On top of that, they make it absolutely impossible to talk to a live person. Totally shady. I wouldn't use this platform now, even if I was given a free membership. It's the fact that they need to be cunning and sneaky to make a profit. No integrity or dignity associated with this platform. Proceed with caution.
I have used simple practice for my documentation and billing for over 5 years and it has been very easy to use. Starting private practice was intimidating, but the platform has made it easy. I am looking forward to the upcoming new features.
I moved to Simple Practice when Luminello was acquired. This is NOT an electronic health or medical record. It is a therapy note, scheduling and billing program with Dr First on the back end. There is no integration of meds in the record, no lab integration, no vital sign tracking, no H&P unless you build it yourself. The rating scale trackers are good but there is no way to include in the note. So if you are audited by insurance, you will have to hand enter every thing. Billing is a mess. I have tried to get my Medicare billing set up for 4 months now. Medicare has given them everything and so have I. There is little support available. If you prescribe meds or have a holistic, integrated practice, look for another platform.
The company was billing me twice. Two accounts were opened by mistake. One of the accounts was never used, supposedly closed, and yet they refused to give a refund. They treat their existing customers without any respect. Find an alternate solution as their customer service is awful.
I've had a great experience so far with simple practice. It's easy to use. There are many tools available within the system that make it easy to run a private practice. I love the simplicity of having everything in one place so the pricing is worth that comfort.
This company refused to cancel my account and continued charging my credit card for nine months after I had first tried to cancel. They robbed me of hundreds of dollars. They have terrible customer service and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Please choose a better EHR.
I've been a Simple Practice user (private practice psychologist) for about 5 years. While I don't have a need for all the features, I do appreciate having so many tools available in one place (EHR, patient portal, claims submission, billing, appt reminders, telehealth, and more). I often read that people have glitchy experiences with the telehealth platform but that's not been my experience at all. I also appreciate SP's efforts to improve their products over the years (different calendar features, option for a simple website, etc). Could I save some money piecemealing these features? Possibly but I don't not find that to be an efficient use of my time.
As a therapist in private practice, SimplePractice has made documenting sessions and paperwork much easier.
You can customize documentations to make it compliant with insurance and personalize to your practice.
99% of Telehealth sessions are stream less. Unless they have a bad connection, then we switch to a phone session as the back up.
I don't use all of the features since I already had programs for billing and insurance verification before I started with SimplePractice and didn't want to go through the hassle of switching everything over, but you can also do billing through them.
Customer service responds via email quickly.
If you have a system of doing your sessions and paperwork, you can run your practice smoothly with Simple Practice.
I've been using SimplePractice for maybe 10 years now. I have a group practice with eight providers and pay about $600 a month. Everything is fine until something comes up and you need customer service - which doesn't exist. The last time I tried - you have to go through a long ridiculous text message menu to get to a place where you can send and email - and they didn't answer. This is not the first time that happened. 10 days later, they send an email saying they can't help me because I didn't sign in with the proper email. They knew exactly who I was and choose not to help me, after 10 days. It's not easy to leave Simple Practice but believe me it will happen.
Unfortunately our therapist uses this platform, resulting in frustrating back-and-forth and numerous delays and glitches.
1. For whatever reason two people can not have access to the same portal and the same time. This makes it pretty impossible for two parents to access and edit assessment questionnaires.
2. Once you enter information into the assessment document you can not go back and revise what you wrote because it is closed.
Dealing with psychological issues for your kid is stressful enough without having to navigate a terrible platform like this.
Since I joined Simple practice in September of 2024, rates have increased twice. Fine, I'll deal with it. Out of nowhere ERAs stopped posting for one of the insurance companies I accept. I waited three weeks for it to resolve itself, but all claims were stuck in the "received" status. I tried to chat with a live agent and was told by AI to submit an e-mail ticket. I submitted two, separated by 5 days, and saw that both had had their statuses changed to "solved" one of them within 10 minutes of the ticket submission. Neither ticket was answered or replied to in any way, and most certainly not solved. I cancelled two meetings to sit on hold on the phone for those two hours and was unable to connect with anybody. This is drastically impacting my ability to bill, organize my bank account, provide client invoices, or track where the money in my bank is coming from. Most importantly it's impacting my ability to trust an EHR system that is vital to my livelihood which is unacceptable both for myself and for the care I provide my clients. I'm actively looking to switch EHRs after only a few months. Simple practice is more expensive than many EHRs on the market, so I would have thought that by paying more monthly, I'd be entitled to high quality customer service. Unfortunately, that's not the case.
I have used many EHR systems but Simple Practice has been by far the easiest to use. It has every feature you can possibly ask for — it’s user friendly, has an app which is even easier to use and now you can write notes on the app on your phone! Wow! Their video streaming is flawless, the billing feature and the group session integration and other features have made me hooked to it! Just get this and you won’t regret!
There is no customer service. I was bombarded by "online suggestions" only..
I was trying to cancel my subscription and could not find it on the site; only when I received a bill could I get to the page of cancellation.
It is a FRAUD
The basic package with Simple Practice used to be an easy 5 stars for me. It gave me a secure place to create and store client notes and an easy/ secure way to send out paperwork. However, this month, they upped their prices by $20 a month for the starter package - and gave me all kinds of functionality I neither needed nor wanted as an established private practice clinician. If you are brand new to private practice, the new basic package may be right for you and a good deal with the added functionality. However, if you are already established and just looking for some basic support to your existing setup, beware - the price hike probably isn't worth it for you. I'm now being charged for a bunch of things I will never use (I have plenty of advertising, an established website, and established BAA's with Zoom and remotEMDR, making their addition of marketing, a website option, and the telehealth platform all totally useless to me). Maybe they will come out with another basic package someday. For now, I'm left needing to decide whether to take my business elsewhere and deal with all the frustration of moving records or pay the increased fee for zero increased functionality.
