Shudder scammed me out of my money and I didn't give concent for them to add a yearly subscription to an account I don't use.
I got a free 7 day trial thou amazon prime and I found out a week later that they then charged me £47.88 for a year subscription, I did not concent to this nor did I know of it so DO NOT USE SHUDDER THEY ARE SCAMMING PEOPLE!

Wow so many crappy reviews, this just validates what a lot of people say; aggrieved folks WILL take the time whine and moan about their "bad" experiences but most folks who love something will rarely post about it, they are just happy and satisfied and thats it. Shudder has over a million horror freaks like myself and we love it! if it sucked as bad as these whiners mention then it'd have been out of business a long time ago!

This company is a scam. I had a promo code for a free trial which they accepted. However, I found out they still charged my credit card almost $60 for a subscription that I never agreed to. Now they refuse to refund my money. I WILL be taking legal action.

I just went on to my prime video to cancel paramount plus,then I find out I was subscribed to shudder I didn't sign up to this

Not a great variety of movies, many foreign language movies marked as being English audio. Older than dirt movies. Paid .99 for two months, that’s about all it’s worth.

I signed up for a 30-day trial, awesome! When I went to cancel, they offered an additional 30-day trial to allow me to reconsider, awesome! I clicked to accept it, there was an error, but I still had access, so the trial got extended, right?

Wrong, I got charged for a FULL YEAR without my consent! And because of their corrupt TOS, a refund was not possible. These people are SCAMMERS! Do not even sign up for a free trial, it's not worth it!

I accidentally activated a free 7 day trial even though I already paid for one. Unlike other streaming services this site does NOT give you the option to sign in if you have a smart TV. I already pay for an account through my Prime but when I went to set up my account through another TV it made a NEW account. The issue here is that my first account was made with a different email than the new one but is still connected to the same Prime account. After reading these reviews I now know that there is no way to cancel one account in favor of the other so now I'll be billed for 2 accounts even though it's connected to the same account overall.

Shudder has been some of the worst customer experience I’ve had in a while. First I was charged in error. When I reported this to the company, it took a month to get a response after sending many emails. Next, my email was forwarded to a different department that cancelled my service without researching the original ticket/complaint. This was after I paid for two years of the service due to a billing error that I chose not to contest. This is maddeningly incompetent service.

got a bill for $79 absolute rip-off if u ask me!, their selection of movies are mostly old outdated B-grades! the fact that they dont advise or warn you of the costs before they steal your money is the main reason I pulled my membership! I just hope they delete my details and dont steal my money in future, i just dont trust them, very disappointing indeed!

Didn't state how to cancel via Samsung tv, making it difficult and annoying.

".TOTAL RIPOFF." Same as all listed below. Would give NO STARS for everything about this company. Taken out $70 and never authorised too. Stay away at all costs. Now starts the task of trying to recover money ,but as of 2 wks still no answer or reply. SCAMMERS.

Same as everyone else, cancelled my subscription before the free trial was over and ive had £47 taken from my bank. If i dont get the money back i will do a chargeback through my bank as im not paying for a service that i cancelled.

Don't trust this garbage site.
It is a straight up scam, they will take the money out of your account long after you have already cancelled. Not a good service even if they didn't steal my 70 bucks.

Buffering is non existent, movies constantly freeze/will not play, customer service is non existent, if you post a negative review Shudder just removed/hides it, if you try to cancel your subscription you can't do it from within the app and Shudder often just takes your money anyway. I've kept my subscription because I know I won't get a refund, customer service just never responds, but it's completely unwatchable. At least 70% of the content is really awful anyway

My title says it all and it is a generalized experiences for many people. I was scammed a whole year subscription when they tried to offer me another free month. I have opened dispute with my bank company and would block them from charging me again.

Total ripoff. Do not subscribe!!!!! You will be charged for an entire year without your knowledge with no recourse for any type of refund. You are stuck with the garbage service. The FTC should investigate their practices. Have not had any issue with similar streaming services. STAY AWAY......

We enjoyed Shudder through Amazon Prime for years, no issues. We found out that Shudder had their own Roku app so we tried it out with a free trial and then one month billing and liked it. We cancelled the Amazon Prime subscription and purchased a YEARLY (as in ONE FULL YEAR PAID IN FULL IN ADVANCE) membership through the Roku Shudder app. After our trial and one month ended our account was no longer able to play movies through the Roku Shudder app. No problem, we contacted Shudder support. They were skeptical at first and suggested that we had purchased some other AMC subscription (Shudder is AMC) so we provided them with bank records showing the charges and confirmation emails showing that we had indeed paid for a Shudder subscription. They would not or could not fix the issue so after three days of back and forth we asked that they please cancel our membership and refund our money. They just closed the support ticket without a response, no cancellation no refund. The next day we opened a new ticket outlining all the details and more that we are posting here. That ticket was promptly closed as well. We cancelled the Shudder subscription through Roku but we cannot get Shudder to refund our money as they will not communicate with us and immediately close any new support tickets that we open. Now we are out $50, not a huge amount but I hope there is a class action suit against AMC/Shudder as our experience apparently is very common from what we have read in online review, so this seems more like fraud. Stay far away from Shudder, I'm not sure how they are getting away with this but my guess is they are on the road to bankruptcy and just don't care at this point.

1 star is too much, DO NOT BOTHER. Like others say here, this company are a total joke, I have spent many hours trying to get refunded to no avail. The day I joined was the day I cancelled because when I went to watch said program it said I needed to join, which I'd already done, hence no shows were available, so I thought nah I'll cancel, OMG, I've spent the last 3 days going from shudder ticket system which is a waste of time to samsung that took the payment, they say they need proof of the cancellation, which I cannot get. So basically do not use shudder as it looks like I've lost my £57 they took fraudently imo
