Had a plumber from Service Today come out and quote $751 for them to fit a customer supplied instant hot water system. I was told by a different plumber it would be a quick job because it was a straight swap over, but the original plumber was booked up for a week and couldn't do it (first week of Jan, everyone's on holiday).

I questioned the service today plumber on the high price, even though he had done the assessment, he said he might have to change some pipes and valves and it could take a "couple of hours", which is why it was a high quote. I foolishly agreed, and he did the job, he did not have to change anything, and he was done within 20 minutes. 

I was hesitant about the price for "a couple" hours work but from the time he arrived to the time he left, it was 45 minutes (including time to quote etc). That is an hourly rate of $938.75. Half that price would be steep, but this is an absolute rip off. 

I understand there are overheads for a big business, and travel time for the plumber and that skilled labour costs, but this is very disappointing.

I would have happily paid $300-$400 for a 1 hour job. But now I am happily telling as many people as I can to avoid Service Today - unless it is an absolute emergency and you are willing to pay 3 times the price of a decent honest traide.

I called customer service that day to try to get a discount, and was told a manager would get in touch within the next day. No surprises - nothing.

I would happily change this review if they gave me a discount.

I recently had a disappointing experience with Service Today and feel compelled to share my frustration. I called them to address a blocked kitchen drain, a seemingly simple job that turned out to be a financial nightmare.

I was expecting a reasonable rate for what I considered a straightforward task, but this quote left me in shock. The lack of transparency in their pricing is disconcerting and feels like a blatant attempt to take advantage of unsuspecting customers. Communication was another major issue. There was a lack of clear explanations about the charges, and when I questioned the steep price, I was met with defensiveness rather than a constructive conversation.

In conclusion, I strongly advise anyone considering Service Today for their plumbing needs to look elsewhere. The combination of astronomical pricing, subpar service, and poor communication make this company an unfortunate choice for anyone seeking reliable and fair plumbing assistance. Save yourself the hassle and find a more reputable and customer-focused plumbing service.

Got a quote for moving a tap in front yard less than one metre. $1007. Paid $49 fee and declined. Local plumber did in less than 1hour for $149.

Kurt and Luke did a great job with our hot water tank installation .Would highly recommend them very professional.

On the 24/4 Service Today electrician quoted $649 for an earthstake I paid $49 call out fee and cancelled job. Rang another electrical Company and they said no call out fee and came and did quoted job for $242. As an added error the first guy said we didn't have an earthstake as house too old, however, the electrician who did the work showed us our earthstake. However it was in the wrong spot so had to be replaced. Service Today said we probably didnt get certificate - since when is a cert woth $400, they are ripping people off do not call or make sure you get other quotes preferably free call outs. Service today were advertising on the Central Coast but the business is in Sydney and their contractor said he was living down there but wanted to move to coast.HOWIE

Ridiculuosly expensive. I needed to replace a water heater urgently and was quoted over $1730 for a unit that was advertised by the supplier at $550. Was already an hour late past the four hour window. As well as the $50 call out fee + $140 to become a member? Misleading when you join for the discount which is nothing compared to the margin they are making.
When questioning the plumber he just said "i dont do the pricing- the company ipad just gives me the price,im the worker- ask the office" or this little gem "we are not the cheapest" He could not give me a break down of the costs which is suspect in itself.
I can't fault his workmanship though.
All up the job was $1850 to replace a $550 water heater. Even with fittings and labour this should not be $1300 on top for less than 3 hours work!
I understand companies need to make money but excessively overcharging and not supplying an invoice with a breakdown of costs for goods and services is just plain dodgy.
Not sure about the service but I was Served Today.
I would never use this company again and will urge everyone I know to steer clear of them.

Service Today is not the company it once was. I have left messages for Mr. Bowersox and Mr. Czech the Mgr. Also thru their accounting dept. My account is all messed up and NO ONE seems to care. I am shocked the previous owner would leave such a great business in the hands of these incompetents.
I have placed at least 5-8 phone calls, no one has called me back yet. They hide behind emails.

Toooo expensive $425 dollar job
I provided my own materials for a 30 min job

Job No. 529416. Supply, install and connect upstairs toilet. Quote $ 6281.48 (VIP price). Included in quote is $931.17 to remove existing toilet suite; there is no existing toilet suite. I did not accept the quote. I might look old and doddery, but I still have a few marbles left.
A private licensed plumber has since completed the job to my complete satisfaction for $1500.
Is it Company policy to prey on the elderly??

They told me $50 call out fee .I expected hourly charges around 100 and the work has taken only 30 minutes of time. Issue was with light bulb fused out due to a trip and he reparied the issue by opening the that particular switch and rejoined the cut copper wire.
So after that he charged me $250+$50 for fault finding and total $300.
But he was decent enough to give me $50 discount as they mentioned that in their website if booked online.
so total cost $250 for 30 minutes of actual work. I am not sure if this is a standard rate but I felt its bit high . But really appreciate the persons skill and effort. But will never call them again as charges I felt are $100 more than expected.Please don't call these guys

Andrew from Service today did a great job installing my air conditioner. He was knowledgeable and friendly and gave me plenty of options to suit my budget.
I would highly recommend Service today and will be utilising my membership in the future to help me with all my plumbing, electrical and air-conditioner needs.

Called this company at 7am for blocked pipe.
They organised a plumber to attend shortly after 11am! Super fast and prompt service.
The plumber quoted me a couple of different options to address the problem.
Went ahead with the jet blast and camera option and maybe after 45minutes or so the plumber had resolved the problem and cleared the blockage.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND as they were prompt, courteous, left the work area immaculate.

Had an urgent blockage at my property and as a single mum I needed it done urgently! They plumber Ben come out first thing in the morning on time and cleared my toilet (WOOHOO)

Thank you to the respectful and knowledgeable team for clearing my toilet and so grateful for him giving me advice for the future and phone lady was very nice and helpful

This company advertises under different names and websites, professing to be ‘local’ and/ or ‘family owned’. They lure you in with a $49 service call out fee and they then quoted double for what I actually paid to get the job done. Then demanded that I pay the $49 service call out fee, for the privilege of their attempt to rip me off.
I am lodging a complaint with Consumer Affairs, and I will be demanding the $49 be refunded to my account. The plumber quoting was also very arrogant. Avoid this company!

You have to pay $49 for a quote, considered call out fee. No price guide available, the only option is to pay for a quote. The electrician quoted me $649.00 to install (swap over) 1 LED bar light and 2 hard wired smoke detectors that I had already bought. Less than an hours work. Also had to endure a hard sell for power board upgrade and rechargeable backup battery smoke detectors. Price gouging, absolutely unprofessional and unethical behaviour. Job completed by Aaron from Azzelec for $150 which was invoiced with 7 days to pay card or bank transfer. Professional, took him 35 minutes, great guy. Do not use Service Today for non urgent electrical work, they are charging 5 times the rate charged by ethical sparkies.
