remove keys without reimbursement

Removing treasure hunter keys without reimbursing players who spent real hard-earned money is a real slap to the face considering RuneScape itself costs 100+ dollars a year to play. I had hundreds of keys and zero clue they were being removed from the game because I was simply taking a break. Jagex is a greedy company that's only concern is money. 1000+ hours spent on their game, and I will never be touching it again.

I have a serious issue

I have a serious issue. Jagex support sent an answer which only shows they didn't read the information. Follow-ups were submitted - 4 so far - and all have been closed without comment. I included notes I will continue submitting until they reply relevantly, so far they no further reply. In last follow-up, I mentioned I would start posting 1-star reviews, so here's the first and looking for more places to post them.

They falsely banned me and removed my items and gold that I spent literal years acquiring. There is 0 customer support, all automated responses. No evidence given of their claims. They take your money, then ban your account, because they hope you'll spend more money on them. It's a scam all the way down.

Jagex are very money lead

I enjoy the game itself but Jagex are just so money orientated, they say they will take your bill on a set date but always take it early, add on silly things in the small print. Make sure you read all the details before signing up. It's a lot of money to just play a game and no support or customer service whatsoever.

I can't say I've had a good experience…

I can't say I've had a good experience here. Every single one of my accounts has been banned because Jagex refuses to offer a good customer service experience for playing their game. F2p is far too limited, Jagex has their head up their ass and refuses to let me speak to an actual human regarding my infractions, instead has a bullshit ticket system where they always "win" and you never get your account back. I refuse to keep flushing $$$ down the toilet for this horrible company that has no customer service but still expects $14 a month for membership. You can't even select a different option from two options, forcing you into a false choice while they'll just refuse to read your response and issue a boiler plate template response denying your appeal. I get more genuine action at a bar or a Walmart than Jagex's own appeal system.

It doesn't matter whether you defeated Jad, have a fire cape, or 99 in a skill, there will come a day where your account will be banned.

EDIT: Another account of mine bites the dust because Jagex's NON-EXISTENT customer service, inability to LISTEN TO THEIR ACTIVE PLAYERS.

Why I Can’t Recommend RuneScape 3 Anymore

I’ve been a long-time RuneScape 3 player (2002), but I can no longer recommend it — especially to new or returning players. The game has become increasingly predatory with its microtransactions, often prioritizing monetization over meaningful gameplay and long-term progression.

What’s even more disappointing is how Jagex has treated its international communities. Over time, support for non-English-speaking players has been quietly phased out. The official forums have been shut down, and many regional communities — like the Dutch community I’ve been a part of for years — have effectively been abandoned.

RuneScape was once built on shared goals, mutual support, and a sense of community — no matter where you came from. Unfortunately, that foundation has been slowly eroded. These days, the game no longer feels inclusive or welcoming unless you fit into a very specific demographic (queer/LGBTQ+).

OSRS - Great!

This review is about OSRS; I love how we, the players, can decide what's coming to the game or what not. Jagex shares a lot of information about the developer's team and (upcoming) updates. The game is almost never offline and the connection is almost always great. The game is really important to me.

Not sure if the most 1 star reviews are for RS3 instead of OSRS, but I can't see why OSRS should deserve one star.

Support is a Masterclass in Corporate Gaslighting

Warning every player here: don’t assume they’ve got your back when things go wrong. They don’t.

When something goes wrong (even through no fault of your own), support won’t help you.
They’ll cite policy, blame the player, and move on.

I’ve since taken this matter up with my payment provider, and I’ll be very cautious about supporting any Jagex product in the future.

I got accused of botting while AFK…

First off, I’m a player of 20+ years. I’ve been through all the eras of RuneScape — from classic to EoC, and everything in between. I’ve supported this game longer than some of the current JMods have likely been employed.

I got accused of botting while AFK fishing at the Ghostly Sole spot in the City of Um — a method that's literally designed for AFK play. I was using the built-in feature that keeps you logged in through mouse movement, just like every other player who doesn’t want to babysit their character 24/7.

And here’s the kicker: I’ve been bed-ridden since March 17th due to a lower back injury from the gym, so yeah — I’ve been around my PC a lot more lately. RuneScape has been a huge part of passing the time while I heal. To get flagged during this time is just insulting.

Why was I fishing? Because AFK fishing is one of the easiest ways to earn Treasure Hunter keys — the same keys Jagex wants players to pay real money for. So I’m assuming that’s the real issue. I was playing smart, not spending money. And it seems like they didn’t like that.

Then, to top it off, they locked my account just for switching from Mac to PC. No warning, no actual review, just locked. That’s either total incompetence or deliberate neglect. Either way, it’s a terrible experience.

Let’s be clear: not all players play the same. Some skill. Some AFK. Some boss. Some just vibe. And that variety is what makes RuneScape unique. Moderators don’t get to act like gods and decide what’s “valid” and what’s not — especially when we’re playing by the rules you designed.

So if you’re thinking about playing RuneScape in 2025, here’s the reality: the game is still great at its core. But the moderation team? They’re out of touch, petty, and borderline hostile to loyal players who don’t spend money.

Wanted to pay for membership after a long break from runescape.

I payed for the membership,
but now because of some b*llshit linkage to my google account everything went wrong.

i PAYED for my membership, it's charged on my bank account. The website is telling me i have another account???!!! WTF?!..

What i suspect happend... due to the linkage to my google account, there was a blank account for whatever reason on there. And i think it merged with my existing account that is now GONE!?

ONTOP OF THIS I CANNOT REACH CUSTOMER SUPPORT BECAUSE THEY ARE TO BUSY!

So yeah... years of my life, gone.
