RBC does not secure your credit card information!
FYI
If you are an RBC client (or any bank for that matter) and have ever received an “offer” in a “personalized mail” envelope. Listen up!
Check the upper right corner of your mail. If it says anything other than “letter mail”, it is junk mail! Junk, personalized, neighbourhood, ad, whatever you want to call it, is mailed at a cheaper rate that does not include return to sender services. So no matter what you write on that envelope, it will not go back to the sender, in this case, the bank! It goes back to the post office, may go around several times, but eventually is supposed to end up in the garbage.
As this is not a secure way of sending Your personal information, I urge you to call and complain to your bank that they not send you information this way.
This letter had, of course, my name and address including postal code, the last 4 digits of my credit card, and my credit limit!
These are all the security questions they ask you fro privacy to prove its you!
Ive call RBC twice about this, they will not provide me with an email address for customer service or security. No email address, so i can have record of this! Can’t find one anywhere.
I asked someone call me back on this, she said some called twice. I have zero messages to prove this.
She said i can go into my branch and ask they not mail me, lol. This could help me. But what about you and every other customer whose information is out there in unsecured ad mail to end up in anyone’s hands? Yes, most of it does end up back at the post office plant, where every knows what this junk mail is, that it does not get returned. And you guessed it,not every single person who works there is honest. A lot of this mail, because address is not changed should it not reach you, especially in apartment mail rooms, community boxes, anywhere multiple people get mail, (and yup they want to do away with home delivery which does help security a bit)
It ends up on the floor of the mail room, thrown on the ground, etc.
your personal banking information!
Oh this personalized junk mail letter not includes my last 4 digits of my credit card, my current limit , etc, it also includes a QR code to go directly to my account, all you need i my password. Easy enough to change when you have all that other info….
RBC refuses to care about this!
Also, just try to send any contact info through rbc customer complaint link, lol, impossible. Lol
RBC added BPI w/o consent
RBC added BPI w/o consent, denied cancel, took $ w/o notice
AVOID RBC Right Pay, Predatory System designed for preying on vulnerable
AVOID RBC Right Pay, its horrendous, used with the vulnerable as the main target, usually given through Social support programs, but Avoid , the branches don't even have access to the card, the customer support is ignorant and not helpful, and the cost to use ABMs and ATMs, I never have been hit with 4.50 twice on one withdrawal before, new experience, oh and during a refund, they claimed they never received it when a forensic accountant proved that inaccurate and even received the money before they even sent the letter saying they can't do anything. So $100+ of fees and lost money in one month because of their outrageous scam they have, all directed at the most vulnerable, people on disability. PREDATORY BANK
restricted from using my online banking
due to a transaction I made..it was denied and was told it was fraud.. When i explained that it wasnt.. fell on deaf ears. My card has been restricted now for over 2 weeks.. cannot do online banking, have to go into branch. asked for it back and they refused to give it back.. im 61 with M.S, it is unaccceptable how i have been treated. i am now in process of removing all my investments and accounts. do not recommend this bank.. never have i ever had a problem, until i moved to nova scotia.. i want my online back!!!!!!!!!
Beware
Beware - I have valuable things missing from my safety deposit box.I complaint to RBC and even showed them sign in signature that wasn't mine. They refuse to acknowledge my complaint and just brush it off.Now I have to sue. What a hassle.
The good service this bank use to have…
The good service this bank use to have is going down. Cant even do online banking or phone banking as they will tell you are not who you are even when you provide the correct information about YOURSELF. The employees cannot speak english clearly, language barrier.
Unacceptable service after 48 years of loyalty
I am extremely disappointed with the service received. After being a loyal client for 48 years, I was subjected to misleading information (false representation) regarding a survey. To make matters worse, I was transferred to the fraud department in an unacceptable manner. There is absolutely no recognition of my long-term loyalty to this bank. This is not how you treat a lifetime customer. Very disappointed.
I would rate ZERO for this time…
I would rate ZERO for this time experience using RBC,
"Extremely disappointed with how RBC handles major fraud issues. I recently discovered a large fraudulent transaction on my account, but instead of helping, the security team told me they couldn't place a stop payment or even issue a new card right away. All they could do was 'lock' the account and told me I have to wait 3 weeks for an investigation with zero promise of getting my money back.
It feels like they don’t take these security breaches seriously at all. I had a similar issue in December 2023, and the service was completely different—helpful and professional. Now, the attitude is dismissive, and the lack of urgency is suspicious. It’s a terrible feeling when you're the victim of fraud and your own bank makes you feel like they’re making it easier for the scammers than for you. Worst experience ever."
I had big fraud issue today, both td and rbc got issue, I called TD first, they reversed today's transactions right away and put the money back to my acct, issued new card with new number, make sure login changed.
Crappiest bank I got to work with in…
Crappiest bank I got to work with in Canada. I have accounts with multiple banks, and RBC provides the worst experience. They have no respect at all for your time. No care in the world if a security issue happens. I have been on a call for hours because I got an alert about an unauthorized purchase and they just pass me from one person to the next. Months ago, I had a meeting with a financial advisor, and that was a crappy experience too. The guy literally told me to move my investment to Scotia... like what???? Every time I had to do an in person thing, I had to wait for 40+ minutes. Respect yourself and don't bank with RBC.
0 Stars – Locked Out of My Own Account, Then Hung Up On
0 Stars – Locked Out of My Own Account, Then Hung Up On
I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with Royal Bank.
I was on a call with an agent for less than five minutes. After being asked a few security questions about my account activity, I opened my app and answered to the best of my knowledge.
From there, things only got worse. The agent said they had to end the call because my answers didn’t match and it was “to protect client privacy.” I asked for another question to verify my identity—this was not possible. I asked to escalate to a manager—also not possible. The call was abruptly ended, and I was effectively treated as a fraud risk… despite being the actual account holder trying to access support.
The reason for my call was simple: I needed guidance on how to pay a bill and understand my options online or in person. Instead, I was blocked by the system and denied any real assistance.
I then called a branch and spoke with someone who was helpful and explained the security controls, but by then, the damage was done. The experience was already negative, stressful, and completely avoidable.
Being locked out of your own account, denied escalation, and hung up on is unacceptable. I will be closing my accounts with RBC and sharing this experience on other platforms.
Customers deserve better access, better support, and basic respect—especially when they are trying to manage their own finances. Hanging up on a client is rude and bad business.
After months of having a courtesy…
After months of having a courtesy overdraft, RBC started denying my charges. Even sums such as recurring withdrawals of $5,00, $10,00 and sums less than $15.00 were denied and they re-tried, resulting in $800-$900 in NSF charges.
Long time RBC customer and was treated like a piece of sh*t. I suppose if I were a man or somebody deemed important in this economy, they wouldn't have tried to actively destroy my life and ruin my credit. I have worked so hard in the course of over 40 years, harder than most, and this is the result. Customer service doesn't exist at this now terrible, cr@ppy bank.
It was the worst customer service ever…
It was the worst customer service ever I experienced in Victoria avenue branch . The guy teller did not acknowledge that you’re there. It’s like you’re invisible. Very poor customer service that I ever seen.

Worst bank no detail nobody know…
Worst bank no detail nobody know nothing. they close the account without a reason !
RBC Customer service is horrible
RBC Customer service is horrible, a complete waste of time. Reminds me of old Rogers days, brutally terrible. My CC has been blocked 3 days in a row, each day I have had to call in or go into a branch to confirm my transactions- for no apparent reason, or atleast that's what they tell me. After I called to ask questions as to why the grocery store would raise concerns the man said he could not answer the question and HUNG UP on me. How is this considered customer service? I will be closing my account and will gladly use any other bank. Do yourself a favour and bank anyhwere but here.
Absolute joke of a bank
Absolute joke of a bank. I probably interact with RBC once or twice a month on average. And yet, by some miracle, every time I do there is a problem. I've had so many ridiculous issues in the past that I did not think were possible for such a large company, let alone bank. I've had an issue where RBC will secretely reset my password after a certain period of time, to the point that I had to change my password multiple times to the same thing until it eventually stuck. Just now I tried to send a 3k etransfer from the mobile app (which offers up to 10k) and it didn't work. So I sent 1k and it worked. Tried sending another 1k and it didn't work. Tried sending 500 and it did. Tried sending 500 again and it didn't. Just...how. Changing your limit is the dumbest thing ever too. You can only change it a certain amount of times in a year, and what's extra fun is that they set all of your limits when you just set one, and you can't change it after you've changed it until the time limit for the limit change expires. Like...why? So you'll change your debit card limit for two months (cause that's the max) and then later you'll try to change your etransfer limit but you can't cause it's locked in with your debit card limit and all the other limits. Customer service...even calling it that is a stretch. Their "customer service" is more like random people off the street who can only help you with the most trivial things. If you come with an actual issue then you get transferred to 50 different people before someone says "oh you can't do that". As I said, I use the bank very sparingly, and somehow I've encountered so many different issues over the years. It's scary how frequent and arbitrary these issues are, and if they have this many issues on the front end, I wouldn't even want to think about the back end.
great high interest savings accounts
WON'T GIVE ME MY MONEY-RBC are Thieves!
WON'T GIVE ME MY MONEY! The just changed their policy in January - if you read - you will know they are about to steal all account holders cash! READ IT!!! I have thousands in the bank and have been at RBC since I was a child 52 years ago!!! They want me to download the app! Do you find it funny that they keep increasing what they will allow if you do the banking on your phone. READ THE POLICY before you hit 'I accept' They can track your entire life! Don't do it! I have been trying to get my RRSP's out of the bank, my investments, they treat me like a criminal and put a FRAUD notice on my account. I couldn't pay for a few extra days at a condo I rented in Mexico as they marked my account as FRAUD and reversed the payment that I had a confirmation number for!! I had to get family back home to pay for it - even after talking to 2 bank managers at RBC that I had known for years - and they could not help me. I was hung up on twice by the Fraud dept. while I was trying to find out the issue!! RBC is the worst bank ever - CRIMINAL! Especially when I have tens of thousands of dollars in their system and have VIP cards etc. Never a problem on my side ever - and I am treated like a criminal. This is terrible
The worst automated customer service…
The worst automated customer service I've ever experienced
RBC has been the worst bank to work…
RBC has been the worst bank to work with. I closed my accounts and went with a different bank after being with RBC for over 15 years. As of lately the customer service has been terrible, they've lied to me and won't fix basically anything. When it comes to the online banking not only are some of the transactions on wrong days it won't tell you which store the transaction is through, it'll just say interact purchase or visa debit purchase instead of something like second cup and then what was spent. Someone could get scammed and wouldn't even know because they have no clue where the charge from until 5 days later.
I had an unauthorized hold placed on my card for a Walmart, I never placed an order or even hit an order button. Your supposed to call the bank to have that fixed and instead what I got was oh I can't fix that, it's your problem and you have to call Walmart even though I told them I just got off the phone with Walmart and they said it was a bank thing. I was also well aware thats a bank thing because of fraud charges and stuff like that. This guy clearly had no idea what he was doing.
