Never Volunteer for an Overbooked Qatar Airways Flight
If you are ever asked to volunteer for another flight by Qatar Airways, my advice is simple: don't.
Our flight was overbooked, and we were asked to volunteer for a different itinerary. This meant leaving the rest of our travel group and taking three flights instead of two, so we initially declined.
The only reason we agreed was because we were promised compensation. Before accepting, I specifically asked whether the compensation was guaranteed, and made it clear that if there was any uncertainty, I was not interested. Two Qatar Airways employees assured me that the compensation was 100% guaranteed and that, as a professional airline, they would honour it.
That was six months ago.
Since then, I have called Qatar Airways around 30 times for updates. Every single time I have been told that the matter has been "escalated" and that someone will get back to me. Six months later, I have still received no compensation and no meaningful resolution.
My advice: never volunteer when Qatar Airways overbooks a flight. The promised compensation isn't worth trusting.
Clear, open and shameless theft!
I was booking a return flight from Perth to Lisbon on 25 June 2026 when, at the payment stage, an additional charge of AUD $52.40 (around €32) appeared as a "Card payment fee." This was both surprising and disappointing. I paid with a standard Visa debit card and was not charged any card payment fee when I booked my flight from Dublin to Perth on 18 June 2026, just one week earlier. I cannot understand why the same airline would apply such a significant surcharge in one case but not the other. The fee was only disclosed at the final payment stage, which made the total price considerably higher than expected. In my view, this lacks transparency and leaves customers feeling misled and robbed. I have contacted my bank to dispute the charge because I do not believe this fee was lawfully justified or clearly explained. I doubt very much that Qatar Airways can provide a true and reasonable explanation for why this surcharge was applied and I will not fly with them again. I have attached a photo of the transaction page on Google reviews. My flight is this Saturday June 27, 2026 and I expect to be treated badly as punishment because of this review.
Heartless service from Qatar Airways at…
Heartless service from Qatar Airways at RSI Airport.
Passengers were informed of the delay only 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time. By then, we had already passed through immigration, so we were effectively stranded in the departure lounge with no possibility of leaving. There wasn’t even a proper table or workspace for those of us who needed to continue working while waiting.
The flight was delayed until 16:40, yet no one proactively approached passengers to explain the situation or offer assistance. Only after we complained were we told that “refreshments” would be provided. A drink or snack does not compensate for an entire day’s schedule being disrupted, missed appointments, and plans that can no longer be carried out.
The staff member apologised repeatedly, saying his hands were tied and that he could do nothing. Even more frustrating was being told that if I chose to leave the lounge, my flight would be cancelled.
The lack of communication, empathy, and customer care was deeply disappointing. Delays can happen, but the way passengers are treated during them is entirely within an airline’s control. Unfortunately, on this occasion, Qatar Airways showed zero concern for the people affected.
Worst customer service ever
Worst customer service ever ! Son flew Boston-Doha-Hanoi - got miles for Boston-Doha (American Airline Miles) but not for Doha-Hanoi leg. AA says Qatar gave him miles with different airline for last leg. Called Qatar Airlines - for verification they needed my sons - ticket number, name, address, phone number, passport number and date I bought his ticket. After that they can not help unless he has a Qatar account. There is no way to contact them unless you have a Qatar account that I now refuse to set up - they can not give me any information as to what airline he supposedly got the miles with. Wanted to try to email them - you can't - Worst, Worst airline to deal with !! Fly Cathay !

Our flight got cancelled and we didn't get a refund. They keep bouncing us between them and the booking agency we used.
I am a frequent
I am a frequent, regular traveler with Qatar Airways, but my recent experience at the transit hub has left me deeply disappointed. My incoming flight (QR 649) arrived perfectly on time. Upon landing, two Qatar Airways officers took my passport and boarding pass, claiming they were going to rush me quickly to the gate for my connecting flight to London (QR 001).
Instead of helping, they held my documents for 15 minutes, only to inform me that their actual intention was to bump me and change my flight to a different one departing 3 hours later. Handing over my papers in good faith just to be delayed behind my back is an unacceptable way to treat loyal passengers. The lack of transparency and total disregard for my schedule has severely broken my trust in this airline.

★☆☆☆☆ – Extremely Disappointing Experience with Qatar Airways
My experience with Qatar Airways was one of the most frustrating travel experiences I have ever had.
I had purchased a ticket from Bangkok (BKK) to São Paulo (GRU) via Doha (DOH). Unfortunately, my flight from Bangkok to Doha was cancelled by the airline. What disappointed me most was not the cancellation itself, but the complete lack of assistance that followed.
At Bangkok Airport, I was simply given a QR code and instructed to contact Qatar Airways through WhatsApp. Despite several attempts, I was unable to obtain any meaningful assistance. When I asked about a refund, I was told to submit a request through the airline's website. However, when I entered my booking reference, the system stated that no such booking existed, making it impossible to proceed.
As a result, I was left stranded and had no choice but to purchase a completely new ticket to return home to Brazil. This replacement itinerary, flying from Bangkok to Los Angeles and then from Los Angeles to São Paulo with LATAM, was extremely expensive and caused significant financial loss.
After returning to Brazil, I contacted Qatar Airways again. I was advised to send emails regarding my case, which I did. More than three months later, I have still not received any response.
I paid for a service that was never provided and, to date, I have neither received adequate support nor a refund. This experience has left me deeply disappointed with Qatar Airways' customer service and handling of disrupted travel situations.
I hope the airline reviews its customer support procedures and treats affected passengers more fairly in the future.
Based on my personal experience, I would strongly advise travelers to carefully consider this aspect of the airline's service before booking.
This was one of the worst travel…
This was one of the worst travel experiences I have ever had. I was denied boarding in Brussels despite arriving with the documents that I believed met the travel requirements published by Qatar Airways.
What made the situation even more disappointing was the way I was treated. Instead of receiving clear guidance, support, or a reasonable solution, I was left to deal with the consequences on my own. I lost my flight, suffered a significant financial loss, and felt completely abandoned by the airline.
As a Syrian passport holder with a valid European residence permit, I could not help but feel that I was treated differently from how other passengers would have been treated in the same situation. I cannot prove the reason behind the decision, but the overall experience left me feeling unfairly treated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed.
I booked Qatar Airways because of its reputation as one of the world’s leading airlines. Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and complete absence of customer care destroyed my confidence in this airline.
I have submitted a formal complaint and am seeking a full refund. Case Reference: CAS-852175-K9N6R7.
After this experience, I will not choose Qatar Airways again and cannot recommend it to others.
I lost my flight, my money, and my trust in Qatar Airways.
I would give it less than 1 star
I would give it less than 1 star, I complained about a missing suite for 3 years now (August 2022)still I have not gotten a proper reply, they just tossed me around and gave me different phone numbers to contact I felt like i was in a loop. Never flying with them again
AVOID Qatar Airways!!
The worst airlines experience
1. Food quality very poor in variety and portion
2. Worst 2 landings
3. Uncomfortable seats
4. Oldest airplane 1980
Best thing was the crew very friendly
Qatar Airways support crooks
Qatar Airways have set up a 100% owned subsidiary company called Qatar Holidays. When I elected to take a complementary accomodaytion to break my flight from Sydney, I was transferred to the Qatar Holidays site without any warning I was leaving the Qatar Airlines site.
Qatar Airways cancelled the flight and have advised that I need to take the matter up with their subsidiary company. Qatar Holidays have been lying for 4 months saying they are arranging a refund....which they are not and Qatar Airways takes no responsibillity for their subsiduary company.
It use to be very good
It use to be very good. Declining experience now.
Qatar doubled the price of our flights, ten days before we fly
Advised by Holiday Cart, the agents we booked through, that Qatar cancelled our flights to Bangkok last Friday and we are due to fly out on July 1st.
We won't get our refund of £1199.97 for 14 days so need to find the funds to book exactly the same flights again which are now listed by Qatar at £2504.10
Any advice on how to contact Qatar as they aren't responding to messages we are sending?

My journey started in Dubai to Toronto
My journey started in Dubai to Toronto, I checked in Qatar Airways and I must say 💯 quality service I received from ground staff to Cabin crews. Seats were very comfortable and hospitality was 5* services, specifically from cabin crew Helen. She was so sweet and hard working, never sat for 5 mins in whole journey. Hats off to her energy👍
We had a flight that was 4 hours late
We had a flight that was 4 hours late, and were therefore told by a staff member when we landed that we could get compensation. Now we are 6 months behind, where we have registered everything properly, received approval for 4 people, but we have never received money.
Very poor service and approach to its customers.
Don´t expect their customer service to help you.
Qatar Airways cancelled my flight after providing entirely incorrect information beforehand. I submitted an official compensation claim, but the company is now using blatant delaying tactics and has completely stopped replying to my case. Extremely poor customer service for a self-proclaimed five-star airline.
Lucky they got 1 start from me because…
Lucky they got 1 start from me because they deserve no stars.
Rubbish airline, customer service advised incorrect information & disappointed all around. As an independent travel agent I would never fly with this airline.
Full of lies and setting blame on others
Due to Qatar Airways website not…
Due to Qatar Airways website not telling me the exact dates/time they forced me to pay $159.00 to make a change to a flight I had booked 5 minutes ago.
Extremely disappointed with Qatar…
Extremely disappointed with Qatar Airways' customer service.
Our family of 7 passengers booked three linked reservations because one passenger is travelling with 3 children and an infant, and we needed to sit together to help her throughout the journey.
What should have been a simple Business Class upgrade inquiry turned into a complete disaster.
* We were given incorrect information by customer service.
- We were told that if payment wasn't completed, the booking would simply remain in Economy. No one ever said our return flight would be cancelled.
- Our return flight disappeared with no email, no phone call, and no notification.
- We were then told we had to pay additional fees to fix a problem caused by Qatar Airways.
- We were forced to change our return date from 7 August to 9 August, rearrange work commitments, pay extra money, and lose our selected seats together.
Despite spending hours on the phone, the only thing we received was repeated apologies—no accountability, no meaningful solution, and no compensation.
For an airline that markets itself as a five-star carrier, this level of customer service is unacceptable. Customers should never have to pay for mistakes made by airline representatives.
