I’ve been using Protyre for years, but my recent experience was very disappointing. The team was quite grumpy and unhelpful throughout. My car was booked for a Gold Service and MOT. They called to say it needed rear brake pads, discs, and tyres, and that it would fail the MOT. They quoted £370 for the brakes and high prices for tyres.
I asked them to postpone the MOT and had the work done at my local mechanic instead — same parts (premium brand of my choice) cost £180, and the tyres were much cheaper.
When I returned to Protyre for the MOT, they failed the car for front tyres, claiming there were three cuts — an issue they hadn’t mentioned at all a week earlier. They implied this damage happened while the car was parked, which seemed unlikely. I replaced the front tyres elsewhere and returned, but again had a frustrating experience. They left my wife waiting for ages before even inspecting the car in 2 seconds to check the new tyres. Had to pay more for MOT as it was cancelled and refunded when booked with the service
After all this, I’ve decided it’s probably time to move on. Too many inconsistencies, too much hassle, and a generally unpleasant attitude from the staff. Also worth noting — the expensive Gold Service doesn’t even include AdBlue top-up, which was disappointing.

Booked MOT online and all ready when I arrived and completed ahead of schedule. Easy process.
Iam extremely disgruntled with the service done at Protyre britannia branch on the 1st of July.My car needed regular oil and filter and other basic service but instead the results were disastrous to say the least. The suspension came back buggered, and on top of that the performance of the car deteriorated After a month the low oil level notification came on the dash and upon checking it was significantly low and darker than usual, clearly an indication that no change was done.
I regret taking my car there

I was kept waiting for hours to fix aircon got there when they opened and they didn't start to fix my car until nearly 9.30
And to top it off there's still a problem

They are always pleasant and friendly, take on a wide range of work and are competitive pricewise. I use them for servicing, mot, and work like replacing wheel bearings.

Car wasn’t repaired as promised and engine completely seized…
Car was booked in for gold service/MOT/air con regas - paid extra for engine flush and tyre/labour for supposed repair - which clearly wasn’t actually done.
Car had been towed in a few days prior to the scheduled works as had broken down roadside due to oil leak (sump plug fell out).
Technicians said they put in new sump plug, did service and extra works (total price in excess of £700 all in) - said that they test drove it with no issues.
Picked up on the Saturday the next day and noticed straight away that it sounded awful - wife had issues within an hour of driving the car limping along - attempted to get the vehicle back to garage on the Monday morning and it died completely - AA roadside said engine had been completely starved of oil - garage claim it’s the cambelt but this has already been done and isn’t due to be changed.
Car has been retained for investigation works to see what the issue is - despite chasing it is now Saturday and I’ve not received a call from them with an update as promised. Assuming they can’t repair.
Interestingly, they claimed it was test driven but the mileage hasn’t changed at all - I would have thought after an oil leak you’d drive it for at least more than 1 mile? I will be requesting CCTV evidence of the car leaving and returning to the premises where it was “test driven” - if this cannot be provided I will be seeking further legal advice.
Having used this garage repeatedly and being a loyal customer for well over 10 years, the attitude from the team regarding this issue has been very poor.
A phone call with an update wouldn’t go a miss!
Car should have been test driven before the MOT/service/new tyre fitted and additional labour charged - if it wasn’t repairable I should have been advised before spending over £700 on it!
UPDATE - After being promised a call back by Mick on Thursday 11th - I’ve chased this evening (Saturday 13th) - only to be told that they haven’t even looked at the car yet - they’ve had it back since Monday 8th. Have also discovered that a brake fluid change was done and charged despite the discs/pads all being changed in 2023 and the car has only done 16,000miles since - AUDI states it should be every 30,000miles so unsure as to why I was told this was due and charged!! Was also charged for additional filter replacement - I thought this was included with a gold service!
Awaiting a call from the manager on Monday - I want solid evidence that it was “test driven” after the apparent repair - if the engine is not repairable I will be seeking compensation!
UPDATE 2 - It is now Tuesday 16th September and I’ve not had a phone call from your area manager as promised or anyone at the Ipswich branch - PLEASE CONTACT ME URGENTLY with an update!!
You have had the vehicle back for over a week and I’ve heard nothing from anyone, this truly is appalling customer service!
UPDATE 3 - Now Wednesday 17th and still no contact from anyone - I have resorted to asking for customer relations to contact me via the Facebook page as nobody has been in touch at all despite constant emails chasing and trying relentlessly to speak to someone at head office. Unable to speak to anyone at Ipswich branch yet again (tried numerous times and no answer) - this is genuinely the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
I will now be forwarding all correspondence to the CEO of your company as the levels of customer service are utterly appalling.

MOT and service took pretty much all day, but problems were encountered, which were sorted.
Phoned me with prices for the work required before undertaking.
Never had an issue with taking a vehicle here.
