Protyre Cheltenham booked MOT 7/7. Went back 14/7 for disc brakes to be replaced. Manager absent. Young inexperienced, immature ( sighing and rolling eyes) male displayed incompetence, not knowing about authorization required for Arval Lease cars???. Mine is not their first one! Wasted a morning! Went back today 28/7 only to be told midway through the process that they discovered my vehicle has electronic disc brakes and they don't have the software downloaded for it. I must now go to a Nissan dealer. Another morning wasted when they could have done some forward research and thinking. How do they not know all this before hand, I ask you???
To top it all, no protective paper was put down in the foot well to protect my carpet and so now I have big black grease marks! I would not go back there with my next Arval Lease car, no thanks.

The price was good but the service was poor. I had an appointment for 1pm but no work was carried out on the car until about 1.40 because everyone was having lunch. Even after text many staff were wandering about with mugs of tea. There’s no point in having an appointment if it coincides with lunch or tea breaks. Must do better.

Comfortable waiting area. Good discussion about options including services other local businesses might offer (not offered by Protyre). Car returned tidy.

Not a great experience, overall. Having booked in to get two tyres replaced at a particular price, I was told it would take about an hour (which seemed a bit excessive, but OK), but rather ruined my plans when it actually took closer to 2 hours. I was also told that I would be charged an extra £5 above the arranged price - pretty unprofessional, especially as the agreed price was a price-match with another local tyre-centre! Over an hour later, still waiting for my car, I was talked-into buying new pressure-sensor collars/seals for £15 each, despite being unconvinced that they were required... Whilst it feels almost like a 'surcharge', it may have been a positive rather than a negative.
OK, so I was overcharged and unsure about an extra couple of 'bolt-on renewal' items, and my day was pretty-much dictated by the job approaching twice its advised time (which had already sounded quite lengthy), but what marks this requested review down more significantly is the safety of what I was left with.
It seemed a full pressure-sensor reset had been triggered but, because I was so very late in being able to leave the tyre-centre, local traffic was so bad that it took over 4 miles of stop-start running/queueing before the reset completed and told me that the new tyres were significantly underinflated - one of them quite seriously-so.
Because I'm so fastidious about my tyres, as they can affect so much of the driving 'experience', the other two acted as a very good reference to what the pressure-readings of the new pair actually should be, particularly as there had been such little duress (e.g. bumps, quick-stopping, etc.) placed upon all tyres in such ridiculously slow driving, and with the day being so warm - so why was one registering about 2PSI under the cold-pressure minimum (displayed on the door-frame) and the other more than 5PSI below??? On that warm day, with only very 'mild driving', I would expect at least about 3PSI over the cold-pressure minimum, and both tyres to be fairly well-balanced.
Without a reliable gauge (I was made so late, remember, so had to abandon returning home), adjustments that I could make once the tyres cooled were very hotch-potch and a very iterative process, but I was eventually able to get the two pressures into a safe range before driving further afield and back, and it was fairly easy to correct it fairly accurately on the following morning: I say 'fairly' because it was somewhat difficult to allow for cooler temperatures on a warm morning, where one tyre is assumed 'fairly' nitrogen-full and the other assumed to be significantly less-so.
The thought occurs that if these tyres had not been sold to me, or another who knows to check tyre-pressures and maintain tyres themselves, etc., they could remain chronically underinflated and imbalanced in pressure for a long time, potentially dangerous to them and to others around! Very, very poor. In my case, I've only been left with a few miles (negligible amount) of uneven wear to the shoulders of two tyres and an imbalance of nitrogen content - and having been very late due to trying to correct the under-inflation piecemeal during a journey!
To summarise... The good: tidy, mostly thorough job without weights hanging off or seal left visibly on wheels. The bad: The job took ages (eating significantly into 'extra time' that I did not have spare), tyres left significantly (one side) and chronically (the other) underinflated - which could have been dangerous (especially 'at speed') and, if uncorrected, caused very uneven and premature wear; also, price increased on-the-day, over the agreed amount
That local Protyre may not be expecting a good review anyway, after changing the price (albeit only by a fiver) at the stage that there was little I could do about it except 'play the availability game' at zero-hour. I guess, then, the request for this review was from Protyre 'HQ'.
Would I go back there for the next tyre-order? I don't know. I'd certainly have to make much greater allowance for time-delay and ascertain that tyre-inflation would be at least balanced across the pair and to at least a reasonable accuracy. Oh, and that an arranged price is exactly that. The otherwise-seemingly-thorough job does compare well to others.

They were cheerful, friendly, and made customers feel welcome, even when they had to say 'sorry, we cannot help you today'. A pleasurable experience.

We stopped by to book-in our car for an AC overhaul. Given the hot, hot, weather we expected to be given a date some time in the future - our own garage couldn't fit us in at all, but protyre offered to do the work there and then. Ideal for us, and a properly functioning AC makes driving very comfortable in this heatwave.

So took my car in for a tyre change, which they done! Noticed my car was pulling after! Fortunately, whilst doing my change, they mentioned I needed another tyre changing, which again they done, and noticed that my first change had been put on the wrong way round!! But this seems to be quite common!!

Service and MOT carried out, during an extreme heatwave, which meant the work was delayed slightly. However review is 4 stars based on the politeness and communication of the staff/manager. I also have complimentary 'health checks' carried out on tyres etc which I find helpful and reassuring.
The guy in reception was polite and the regas for my car was done quickly and efficiently
