The cus services is grim.I went to Doncaster town centre store today to return/exchange 2 baking trays at £1.99 each that my wife purchased. The store manager said I need proof of purchase/ bank statement and the original card and that person-for £3.99,I assume a refund but I wanted an exchange. I gave up and gave them to the charity store next door.Senior management need to empower store managers to use discretion aptly.

Absolutely traumatized

I have to write this review because the way I have just been treated in Poundland Denton is absolutely disgusting. I was doing absolutely nothing wrong and was met with the most awful aggression from the store manager who's name is Mike. When I asked for his second name to make a complaint he refused to give it to me. I suffer with extreme OCD and mental illness. I was putting the things I wished to purchase in my shopping bag. He came over to me with an aggressive tone and asked me to use a basket but I don't like to because of germs. I explained this to him and said I would like to pay for the things in my bag. He said he would escort me to the till which is fair enough. I said ffs as I was walking round to the till as there was still some things I needed. He then came over to me ripped the bag out of my hand aggressively. Emptied it and threw my ripped bag at me. The proceeded to shout at me to get out the store. I had literally done nothing wrong and just wanted to pay for my things. I left th store absolutely traumatized by my experience there. I have never been treated this way in a store in my life. I could understand if I was doing something wrong but I wasn't. From the moment he approached me he was so aggressive in his tone. I have been going to this store for years and putting things in my bags then paying for them.

What MISERABLE staff

I purchased a large bottle of laundry detergent and when I reached the top of the queue to pay I said “ happy new year” to the man at the till. He grunted at me and told me where the bags were as I had requested one. The transaction took place and I said to him may I have a smile please?” he was so rude and said “no” Not one of the staff smiled or greeted any of the customers. They were all horrible.

Where is staff training ? Don’t you care? I will never shop at Poundland in High Barnet again, I would rather go next door to Waitrose where the customers are always greeted.

A Brief and Snappy Transaction

On the evening of 23rd December, I visited Poundland on London Road, Brighton, to purchase a couple of modestly priced items and engage in what I assumed would be a routine, civil exchange at the till.

I was mistaken.

As I attempted to hand my items to the cashier, they were snatched from my grasp with all the delicacy of a crocodile lunging for a plump duck. I can only commend her hand–eye coordination: the speed and ferocity of the manoeuvre meant that, had her fingernails made contact with my skin, medical attention may well have been required.

Once payment was complete, and as I reached to retrieve my purchases from the counter where they had been decisively slapped down, the cashier announced “NEXT PLEASE” in a voice so thunderous it felt capable of rearranging DNA.

I have never encountered this lady before, so I can only assume there was something about my appearance that triggered such raw hostility. I sincerely hope that’s the case, as the alternative – that this is her standard customer service approach – is rather alarming.

A memorable experience, though perhaps not for the reasons Poundland might hope.

Poor service in Braehead, Glasgow store. Price at till did not match what was on shelf and staff refused to honour. Didn't even offer an apology.

Just been assaulted in poundland Hanley…

Just been assaulted in poundland Hanley town centre branch and the staff members Mandi and another turned around and said she only brushed you light. The other customer took my trolley and pushed it into me and my 4year old. I complained it was assault ad poundland laughed. Pathetic, is this your morals I have a disability and you think it's acceptable??? Boycotted, racist and pathetic staff

It’s about the Poundland shop in Lincoln. Extremely rude male shop assistant, should not be used at the check out. He mocked my purchase, laughing about it with his equally rude female colleague. Appalling behaviour!

GREAT DERBY STORE

I visited Poundland, London Road,Derby yesterday for the first time and met an assistant called SHAZ and can’t thank her enough as apart from being a lovely person she was so helpful and to me offered excellent customer service. If only more shops had a SHAZ it would be brilliant.
I found out later that SHAZ was on her way to her tea break and had put herself out to help me. Thanks so much to her she deserves some management recognition.

Uxbridge No idea how to speak to people

Came through a door with entrance written above it only to find the staff had blocked it off meaning I had to walk trough the customers on the self service tills. Only to be snapped at by a rude male asian staff member . The quality of your staff and customer service has gone down over the years . Used to be good. Not going in there again.

Self service checkouts very disappointing

Very disappointed to see you now only have self-service checkout at your Burnley store with a cashier overseeing this operation.
On a positive it brings about conversation amongst shoppers as to where these changes are leading. People are waking up.
I will shop elsewhere. You have just lost a customer. No hardship for me.

I visited Poundland in Nottingham

I visited Poundland in Nottingham, just off the market square this afternoon, Sunday 30th November 2025, the shop itself was quite busy, there was a small queue, which I joined, there was a Poundland employee called Ben (dark hair and glasses) at the self service tills shouting at people, “anyone cash or card” he got more and more angry and aggressive with his tone of voice, until eventually he shouted “ I can’t be arsed “ surely this can’t be acceptable, even one of his colleagues apologised to me for his behaviour, I suggest Ben has some staff training in how to speak to the public, it’s not a good look for Poundland as a Company !
