We worked with Jacob and Ellie at Porter Dodson in Sherborne to support us with executing a will and to guide us through probate - with the added complication that all 3 executors of the estate lived in different countries. Throughout they were responsive, answered questions quickly, gave us regular updates and helped us find the best solutions to some quite complicated logistical problems. They were friendly and professional throughout which is exactly the support you need when you're dealing with a loss. We can never thank them enough. Enormous thanks to the to the Porter Dobson Solicitors and Advisors (PDS) team based in Taunton, with particular reference to Danielle Luke (Senior Paralegal) and Chris Green (Partner).

Ours was a complex global probate case, and our family reached out to PDS 3 some years ago now, to seek guidance on this matter. We as a family (my sisters and I) were not looking to gain personally, but we were looking to protect our mother’s inheritance, who was not in a position to challenge the miscarriage herself.

We first spoke to Chris, who offered expert free advice, and following this we elected to engage formally with PDS on a no win no fee basis. We were really reticence at first, however we came to the conclusion that we really had nothing to lose, as PDS were taking all the risk, and would their win percentage, should this materialise, which was modest under the circumstances. The most important aspect being that PDS came over as trustworthy, which was paramount to us.

After introductions were made, it was Danielle who became the single point of contact (SPoC), and carried on the good work initiated by Chris.

We had no idea how long the process would take, but we put our faith in PDS to do the right thing. This they did, and I like Danielle, became the SPoC for our family. Incredulous to think about it now, but this process would last over 3 years and entail literally hundreds of emails. Fortunately for us, Danielle did her best to manage our frustrations and expectations, so at least we could understand why the process was taking so long. Danielle always found time to keep us informed of any developments and was so timely with her responses to my emails.

It all came good in the end, and our mother got her entitled inheritance, thanks to the work undertaken by Danielle and Chris at PDS.

It is for this reason I wanted to put this review out there, so for others who could be in a similar position to ourselves, I have no hesitation in recommending PDS as a company in which to put your trust.

Reena at Porter Dodson in Sherborne was excellent: as soon as she picked up our file during a protracted sale process, we felt in safe hands. Communication was excellent and we were delighted that Reena regularly picked up the phone to update us on progress rather than simply relying on emails. We felt confident of her attention to detail and of her professionalism in dealing with relevant agencies. On the day of completion, Reena went out of her way to make sure we were fully in the loop at each stage. We would happily recommend.

Michelle Wilson handled my complicated flat sale with the addition of a lease extension. There was many stages to the sale spanning over 7 months and she explained the process and what needed to happen. I was very anxious as the sale did take some time but Michelle was calm and provided clear and reassuring advice and guidance. And once again I have been another victim of porter dobson I wished I had read reviews before employing them but as I was griving and not not myself at the time I failed to read reviews

They seem very good in property cases but in Wills and Probate cases it's a big No

I have been overcharged for unnecessary work conducted and to no conclusion on my contested will case to the fact I had to resort to employing another solicitor's firm who got the probate lifted in half the time and a fraction of the cost I would like to stress anyone who has been in a similar situation to take them to the Legal Ombudsman which is what stage im at at the moment

We used Porter Dodson solicitors for a property inheritance and transfer of deeds, mainly dealing with Reena Raval she was absolutely brilliant,friendly, professional, and always kept us informed and answering any queries, often out of "office hours"— she made the whole process so much easier and stress free

I had a complex sale involving cladding remediation, the Building Safety Act 2022, and much more. I tried local solicitors who turned down the work as being too complicated, beyond their PI insurance, etc. Then I found a blog post, by H.H. of Porter Dodson down in sunny Somerset, which claimed she could do it . . . and, ably assisted by S.R., she did!
