Openrent is great for advertising, thereafter it's a mess
OpenRent is excellent for advertising rental properties, but the referencing and tenancy creation stages are difficult to navigate. The interface is cluttered, the messaging can feel alarmist, and the workflow is not intuitive. A simple, guided question based process with hover over explanations would greatly improve clarity.
Customer support initially provided a generic response, but ultimately resolved one issue by combining the two joint applicants for referencing.
While experienced landlords may adapt easily, occasional users—who might only need these services every few years—would benefit from a more user friendly design.

Unbelievably difficult to begin with - I nearly abandoned the property I was interested in which would have been a shame because it is so good.
Once you're 'into it' it's pretty easy to use, and provides a good framework, scheduling and document storage capability.

I have used the Open Rent platform now…
I have used the Open Rent platform now for three tenancies and it’s absolutely seamless! Easy to use application, great customer service. That has stayed consistent now for 6 years. It’s an absolute pleasure to use their service and I highly recommend!
Simple and easy to manage the process - top class service
Outstanding customer service
Outstanding customer service! This is the first time my family and I have rented so we didn’t really know what to do. Finn listened patiently to our questions and shared clear and useful answers, information and procedures. He was able to set up specific requirements which eased the complexities of moving home. We are very grateful for Finn’s helpfulness and positivity.

It's a little daunting first time to use but actually it's a brilliant way of handling all of the new renters rights compliancy as a landlord and makes it easier for tenants. It's so quick and efficient! Only would say they don't miss a chance to upsell various add ons but overall excellent!
Stay away from their referencing...
So it all started with their referencing which isnt worth the paper its written on. We had a tenant create multiple accounts to scam tenancies, as confirmed by open rent, unbeknown to us at the time of taking the tenant.
Their referencing, the tenant used a fake ID, but passed all their checks with flying colours.
The customer service just gives standard answers
and then when we have a court order ordering the deposit to be returned, due to over 8 months rent arrears they refuse as the tenant has 90 days, and longer at their discgression, to lodge a complaint against the deposit.

I am quite horrified at the values of this company. As a renter looking for somewhere to live I am offered the chance to get 'verified' which means paying £10. How much money is Openrent making from people desperately looking for a home? It is a totally cynical and greedy way of maximising profit. It makes everyone who hasn't paid £10 look 'unverified". I think it should be illegal. Also...I only just now realised that is is not even a proper check for the landlords benefit, I was able to just pay to be verified without a check being done. ( I did not ). In other words no one benefits apart from Openrent. It all feels wrong and uber capitalist and taking advantage of people's needs. I would never want ro work somewhere like

Shit experience with this app
Shit experience with this app. Really inhumane process. The holding deposit keeps refunded to us while we were finding guarantor, causing a lot of trouble to the process. Considering real human needs pls. Not everyone can work like a robot.

Everything very clearly provided and explained, fast and you felt supported throughout. Thank you.
Really was a great service
Really was a great service , having taken over the management of our properties from an agent , we were a bit concerned about finding a new tenant for one of our properties however Open Rent ensured the whole process was effortless, we would highly recommend Open Rent !
Great lettings and support service
Great lettings service. The follow up was equally good.
Stuck in the dark ages of over control
The site is useful. But its stupidly slow to communicate with potential tenants. Open rent makes it so hard to share phone numbers which would make life so much easier.
As a female landlord I'm not going to book appointments through a portal to view properties without speaking to prospective tenants and finding out if they are even remotely plausible options for the property.
So openrent its 2026....share contact details from the word go make everyone's life easy.
You don't need to control everything. We pay to list on your site you don't get a commission.
No one wants to be the next Suzy Lamplugh.

Kept me informed all through the process
Great process control and flow
Great process control and flow. Simple UI and very good UX. I've been in web systems for over 20 years and this is one the best experiences ive had using a platform for such an important function. Who ever deigned this process flow and executed the UX should be very proud.
Good service in that I found a tenant…
Good service in that I found a tenant and they did all the paperwork. However both myself and new tenant found it very frustrating not being able to speak with someone and it is incredibly difficult to find what you are looking for on the website.
