That was a good experience overall, but some things could have been organised differently, mostly during the last two years. There is help, but I felt that it wasn't enough, as some parts of the mater... See more

The organisation really allows one who may not have been able to attend university, to finally achieve their goal.
Couldn’t thank them enough.
Currently on stage 2 of my BSc in Accounting and Finance.
Thank you and keep up with all the good work.

A great experience, and very helpful, Mo called me back when I had issues with my telephone line to complete my issue. Thanks Mo!

Not what is was. All online, no text books. Tutors are virtually uncontactable and late marking work (over two courses I have done this year). I have studied with them for 20 years and this will be my last one. Not worth the money at all.

I am currently studying BSc in Computing and IT and I am very satisfied with the course. The modules are well structured, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Our tutors are supportive and always willing to help. I am gaining valuable skills that will support my future career in technology. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in IT

Raised a complaint months ago, they responded, I appealed the response and haven’t heard anything since, the OU has played a part in me not being able to continue my studies in a meaningful way, I have ended up missing assignments and not getting the grades I know I can get because of the OU’s actions, as a result I can only give them 3 stars, the root of the problem is the OU having a different funding cycle to student finance England and other universities which then causes unwarranted stress to students.
In regards to the overall course (BSc in Computing & IT and Statistics) the content is okay, however, I have found that some tutors are more responsive than others, one of my tutors started by sending out weekly emails regarding content for the week, once I missed a couple of assignments with that tutor, I seem to have been completely abandoned by them and now rarely get any contact from them, another tutor sent an email regarding a deadline for an assignment on the day it was due with only a few hours left in the day, I took that email in good faith thinking it meant the following week because I couldn’t believe a tutor would send out a deadline email stating the deadline was a specific day, on the actual day, I missed that assignment.
Ultimately, my experience with OU has been difficult and while I am continuing my studies, I am struggling, I am a disabled student, I can’t attend a brick and mortar university due to health, I made changes to my employment in good faith because I believed the university would follow the advice they gave me and advice I was given by Student Finance England regarding maintenance support, unfortunately, the university failed me, they’ve now ignored me and I’m in a significantly worse financial position than I was when I started my studies.
Great place and great content especially who has work and want study , i am studying CyberSecurity Bsc honer

My experience with the Open University Disability Support Services has been exhausting, incredibly frustrating, and deeply disappointing. You would expect an office dedicated to accessibility to understand the basic concept of removing barriers, but instead, they seem determined to build new ones. I had to send my application for disability support in three time, eventually having to download a paper copy scan it and email it in. I've received nothing in the way of support from anybody. The whole process has left me exasperated. My review does not refer to DSA, I refers to OU own none existent disability support.

Being able to study to suit my needs has allowed me to gain a second degree and go on and do a full time masters degree. Tutors are always willing to help and give advice when needed.

I have been enjoying studying at The Open University. I can fit my studies around my work and family life. The OU has an extremely polite and friendly student support team and the advisers are always there to support along the study journey. The modul materials are up to date and can be perfectly embedded into everyday's work. The tutors work with different types and sizes of businesses and they gain their experiences from real life examples what makes the modules even more relevant and competitive.

When I first studied with open university it was great, the tutors were really good, and there was face to face classes as well, which really helped with study.
I started another degree recently and I have to admit it is not great at all now, the communication is awful, there are no face to face tutor classes at all, and to be honest the tutors dont seem to have the time to help you anymore. I asked the same question 5 times via email, as the phone calls never got answered, and I still dont have the answer to my question. I have now decided I wont be carrying on the degree, with the prices increasing, you would expect a better service, but alas that is not the case, so I have been left feeling down heartened.
