Tried calling today to ask what their justification was for still allowing large API + increases a few months into contracts in 2024.
I was left listening to an automated phone response and no answer to the call.
Perhaps closing the regulator and putting those resources and funds towards improving the industries they purport to regulate would be more beneficial.
Brick wall
Brick wall, had a complaint about being slammed by a telecom firm in Ipswich, bunch of crooks told me to write asking for a deadlock letter and to wait eight weeks, then get back in touch with my case reference number, did all that and found they had closed my case after four weeks, now have to submit everything again and am currently threatened with court action from the crooks who stole my telephone line!
Bent
Bent, corrupt not their to serve the public! They just have zero interest in constant fluctuating mobile networks service even their check on the website is a waste of time! Mobile business plans have zero redundancy no different form domestic plans. Challenged ofcom on this raised issue. Told won’t get any feedback it’s just logged????? No idea what they do at all? Utterly useless regulator another government linked big boy club organisation not helping the public just the giants! Offcom even the name suggests comms off ridiculous
Extremely poor
Extremely poor. No decision on my complaint whatsoever from a year ago.
Contacted them six times and absolutely nothing.

Absolutely unfit for purpose- total left wing liberal joke , if you complain about something that is actually offensive , they are not interested unless it suits there agenda!
OFCOM ? IS IT WORKING FOR THE CONSUMER
Ofcom do not offer a comprehensive menu to the consumer. They use technical jargon to evade tackling problems and waylay customers with grievances. They are seriously a waste of time and because they are not transparent about their expertise one has to question why they are operating.
Frustration
It seems they intentionally make things difficult for the consumer to benefit their big business buddies. Their web site is dreadful and it is impossible to find useful information there without using an external search provider. Openreach (as an example) seem to use this to their advantage by directing customers to the ofcom web site to sew further confusion and frustration.
Save your time, hopeless regulator
What competent regulator, would allow a price increase mid contract & then allow that increase, to be of an unpredictable & unlimited amount?
These 2 year contracts provide no incentive to offer the Customer adequate service, as the consumer is unable to go elsewhere without a penalty, how anti competitive is that?
The most offensive waste of money in…
The most offensive waste of money in the uk.
Seriously, they do absolutely Nothing. Voluntary policies? Pull the other one.
How much is this costing us?
not independent , just politics
Reading that Ofcom thinks its independent, when you look who sits on the board ... no one normal person all people from the media, tv and politics and some who sit on lots of boards of other companies .... How can that be independent plus try and find anything good that Ofcom has done in last five years.
Its made a lot of things worst ,still when your getting paid huge sums for doing bugger all you dont want people rocking the boat ,,,,,, not a thing to make your mother proud , still rolling around in noodles of cash obviously helps Ofcom board sleep at night ... Rant over!
Ofcom's Regulations are Barebones
Ofcom's regulations are barebones and useless. No consumer protections for online service issues.
You will not get compensated as the bare minimum for service providers is to "provision" internet for at least a small period of each day.
"Speed" or packetloss is not taken into consideration so any ombudsman cannot compensate for genuine issues that are mishandled by an ISP.
Absolutely useless policies with no purpose to this organisation other than to pretend there is a regulatory body that does something.
I have found that this service is…purposefully useless
I have found that this service is criminally useless, being that it is deliberately unwilling to help people who complain about online services abusing their rights by law. Here in the UK we have had all our rights, including our human rights, taken away from us by a criminal Conservative government. If you are happy about your children being abused now and even moreso in the future, continue solely pretending to be good, caring parents. Ofcom exists solely to deceive people into believing that a body exists to regulate the media and give the impression that we are protected from the crimes committed against us by them. Democracy is in deed rule by the MORONIC majority.
Spineless
A spineless organisation. They've been ignoring our communications for 6 months. They haven't the capability to take on the media or maybe they receive payments from them not to. The whole thing needs looking into with a new proper regulator put in place
This toothless bunch of Morons need to…
This toothless bunch of Morons need to be disbanded immediately. Who pays these their wages?? We do as taxpayers. If I did my job the way these Morons do, I would not last 5 minutes. They are afraid of all the big Companies....Sky, Virgin ,Eir etc. All of them need to be fired.
Of com are a total waste of time and money
Look at the channel 4 and 4e ads and garbage offensive programming. Then ask do we even have a television watchdog? The latest e4 ad on climate skidmark is disgusting in every way but the limp-wristed ofcom sit back and do nothing.
TOTAL WASTE OF TIME
TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. NO REAL PERSON TO TALK TO AND THE LOG IN PROCESS HOPELESS PLUS THE PHONE LINE CHARGES ARE A SCAM
Consumer suppression
Consumer protection? That’s a dream! Not only is this organisation not fit for purpose, they are in the pockets of vested interests or is it self interest?
I recently wrote to them about a ripoff by Sky Mobile. My 12 month swap turned out to be a 2 year ripoff. I was charged £314 for the second year and given £15 for my hardly used phone. If I had continued with any 2 year plan, the phone would have been mine at the end of the contract period. So where was the swap? I am still waiting for a detailed explanation as to how Sky Mobile arrived at this figure. Furthermore, they refused to return my phone - even though I declined their £15.
Ofcom dismissed my concerns, even though several phone stores say that this unethical practice is commonplace.
To stop Sky Mobile ripping me off at a later date, I cancelled my new contract.
Ofcom serves only the interest of vested companies, so they should be honest and state categorically that “they are not there for the public”.
Allowing big price rises is not in the…
Allowing big price rises is not in the customers interest but it seems that Ofcom are happy to allow ISPs and mobile phone providers to increase there bills mid contract by a minimum of 3.9%+CPI. This is adding £100s of millions to profis for ISPs at a time when prices should be dropping.
Ofcom also allows bundling of a home phone most people don't want into the packages to allowing ISPs to keep the prices artificially high.
Everyone knows ISPs are investing in fibre to premisis but once that is completed their costs will reduce so any investment now will only fuel profits in the future.
As the regulator you should be push down prices and removing unnecessary items like home phones from contracts where all customers are seeing is higher prices and will start to see increasing profits for ISPs.
This does seem to be in the customers interests.
This highly paid company should be…
This highly paid company should be disbanded they are useless.I have tried to set up a business which relies on Royal Mail on a next day delivery service. This is not adhered to 55% of the time. I have tried to complain to ofcom. There answer was, ring Royal Mail.I have done on numerous occasions and their answer it's due to sickness What!!all over the postal areas.Even my post person tells me the mail left in is incredible.I pay for a first class service and get a third class service.Ofcom get yourselves sorted and do what you are paid for.
Horrible company!!!!
You should change the name of your company to truth censorship station. You want to censor truths! Horrible company with horrible employees! Very Nazi like company!
