Obitus provide the behind-the-scenes technology that helps funeral venues and funeral directors across the country deliver a fitting, dignified and seamless service for the bereaved families they serve. This includes music, photos and live streaming. We’re a small, dedicated, family-run team who care deeply about every funeral we help with. Most of the thousands of people every day who attend a funeral we’ve helped with never even know we exist, partly because our systems work so reliably the vast majority of the time. Over 5 million people have used our live streaming service during the last year and we’re proud we’ve been able to support so many families at this exceptionally difficult time. There are a lot of factors involved in delivering a live webcast, some within our control and many others outside of it. For example, we send the correct, automatically-generated usernames and passwords via email to the funeral venue, however it’s up to them, the funeral director and the family to share these details – very occasionally these get altered or miscommunicated while they’re being shared by others. We also don’t have control over the timings of the live stream, the starting and stopping of this is done by staff at the funeral venue who are running the service on the day – we are not present at the service. We help all of the venues we work with to understand the importance of a fast internet speed so that we can deliver the best possible quality and speed, but some venues are unable to provide this, often due to location or budget. We really do understand how upsetting it is when a live stream doesn’t go according to plan, and we’d like to apologise on behalf of all involved for anything that contributes to this occasionally happening. But we assure you we work as hard as we can to ensure nothing does go wrong, or to try and help as quickly as possible on the rare times it does. We don’t expect praise from families whose funerals we’ve helped with. We’re just doing our job and they have far higher priorities than thanking us. But we do ask that anyone reading these reviews to consider the context that we’ve explained above. In the same way most of the good reviews here are actually praising elements of the service we’re not responsible for, many of the poorer reviews are also addressing something outside of our reasonable control. We know we’re not perfect, but we get it right the vast majority of the time and we really do care, deeply. Anyone with questions, comments or concerns is welcome to email cs@obitus.com and we will gladly talk to you and help however we can. Please always include details of the venue, time and date of the service in any communications so we can work out exactly service you are referring to.

Dom and Andy were super responsive and helpful to a range of questions I had. I had heard good things about Obitus customer service but they really blew me away with their personal approach and speedy support. Thanks!
I contacted Obitus to arrange music for a friends funeral. Andy was incredible. He explained everything in detail. He had empathy and he really is an example of what Customer service is about. I cannot praise him highly enough. At a time when I was upset and anxious he reassured me and put me at ease. His response was prompt and answered all my stupid questions. What a great service by someone who clearly understands people and genuinely wanted to help me. Thank you again.
As a celebrant I appreciate the service that Obitus offers. Their customer service and support is absolutely brilliant. They do all they can to make sure that I have the information I need. I strongly feel that Obitus is run with the values of care, compassion and integrity. I am very grateful to work alongside them to support bereaved families.
Whilst I think the idea of providing a visual tribute is a great one, my main complaint is the system. Once you upload your photos, you then have to spend ages moving them about if you want them in a particular order. I was preparing a tribute for my mother last week and wanted it in chronological order. It took absolutely ages having to move photos up and down. At one point the system crashed and I had to start all over again. It took a total of almost three hours to complete it. There are ways in which the this system can be made much smoother and easier to people to organise their tribute photos. A difficult time is made worse by spending time being frustrated by an extremely unwieldy system of uploading and ordering.
My other complaint is that there is no option to preview the tribute! I find this extremely disappointing and actually pretty unprofessional. It’s really important to feel reassured that you have done the best for your loved one by running through the tribute set to music, and there is no option for this at all. As the customer, I expect to be able to view my product in order to confirm it’s suitable for public viewing. Instead I am having to rely on an unknown person who I’ve never met or spoken to.
Disappointing.

Very friendly trainer, pitched it at the right level and was very patient with our concerns and explained things clearly. I feel confident that I can reach out if I need further help.
Andy was really helpful setting up my Obitus access and explaining in simple terms. He encouraged me to contact him again if I have any problems.
So highly organised and professional. Such a great and comprehensive service.
This is an awesome organisation! Never before have I sent an email message to ask for help and within a minute of it leaving my out-box, my 'phone rings with an answer. Totally brilliant for a busy minister like me juggling funeral planning and all kinds of other things.
I also appreciated very much the training that I received from Andy when I first started using the Obitus music system. Many times it has helped me to help families planning services for their loved ones.

My family and I have used this service twice now, once in 2020 for my mother's funeral, and today, 6 August 2024 for my father's funeral. On both occasions Obitus provided a fantastic service and a stunning tribute montage. I highly commend this company. Thank you.

Andy Downing - polite, helpful and patient! He was very happy to talk through the process of uploading photo's for a Tribute and assist a real tech-phobe, his help was very much appreciated. Thank you from a very relieved Funeral arranger!

I have watched many times the Obitus webcast for funerals when i have not been able to attend in person.
Today i have experienced that the webcast was stopped half way which was disappointing.

This company charges exorbitant fees to extract as much as the can from grieving families.
I am currently planning my Mum's life celebration service and we want to have a number of audio/visual tributes played. For every tribute which the family and friends have created Obitus want to charge us £30. This is simply to load a file to the AV system at the crematorium and then for one of the crem staff to press play at the appropriate moment.
We challenged this cost but Obitus have refused to budge despite representations from our Funeral Director and our Celebrant.
We looked at whether we could provide our own solution, however, this would involve a lot of set up on the day of Mum's funeral which we don't want. Obitus, a faceless company that hides behind crematorium staff and funeral directors, know they have grieving families over a barre).
Fortunately, our very kind funeral director has agreed with great compassion to take o some of Obitus costs, however, if you have to plan a service for a loved one and you want to give then a good send off with lots of pictures and tributes, I highly recommend checking whether your chosen venue uses this money grabbing company as you could be up for a significant additional cost.

Wonderful service from Obitus, both in terms of products, availability and sourcing of music and help and advice with visual tributes, music and recordings. I have always found their staff to be most helpful when I have needed to call them. And in the lead up to service, their website easy to navigate and use as I upload music, visual tributes etc, order webcasts. In chapel the main control unit gives so many options, from screen saver holding images, to setting start or end of a track, linking songs together to play one after another, or playing one song on a loop. I am always relieved when I discover the places I am working have Obitus installed. By far and away the best music and audio visual provider out there.

I have worked with Obitus now for a few years helping families organise services for their loved ones. I have only praise for all the staff and the service they provide. They are helpful, polite and always return calls in a timely manner if needed. I have to mention Andy Downing in the Customer Service department who is always on hand to help.

I am an independent funeral celebrant and I work with Obitus on behalf of bereaved families, including uploading photos and slideshows for them. Obitus's website has recently been updated making it even simpler to find and order the exact music track required from an extensive library. On those few occasions when I've had to pick up the phone to ask for help, the team member (whether from the music, visual tribute or streaming team) has invariably been understanding, helpful and very friendly.

Wonderful service, with helpful and kind people on the phone.
If there are ever any problems, the dedicated team act efficiently, and resolve any issues.
As a very busy Celebrant, I have been working with Obitus for many years, and never once experienced a serious issue.
I have a dedicated 'direct call line', where my two account managers are available to answer any queries immediately, and deal with any issues that may arise, and ensure that things are just right for the family and friends of the service I am taking.
Obitus provide a fantastic service to so many bereaved families, and its a privilege to work with them on a daily basis.
I use this excellent company for all my funeral services. It is extremely rare that there is ever a problem, if there is they always work hard to resolve it. The visual tributes are stunning. The music library is vast, but will always source a new piece of music for our families. They provide an excellent and professional service.

As a funeral director I’ve been using Obitus for over 5 years now since it was installed at our local crematorium. I have always found that they offer a fantastic service. I personally upload slideshows and music weekly on behalf of my families and have never had an my issues. It’s lovely to be able to sit with families and play them a short snippet of the music track so we can ensure that it’s the correct song.
If we’ve ever had to make a last minute change , they accommodate my request straight away. All the staff are polite and helpful and will always give the professional opinion if they feel a photo isn’t going to look good etc.
As I funeral director I’ve used multiple music / digital suppliers over the past 20 years but obitus are most definitely the most reliable and easy to use which is great for me as I’m not that text savvy.

As a Crematorium Manager I have worked with this company from their early conception. They have grown quickly and their growth is aligned with their success. They provide a first class service to our site and the support from their staff is exemplary. The problems experienced are predominately internet speed and connectivity - NOT with Obitus! They provide online live viewing, photo tributes and music along with lasting memorial keepsakes of services. I cannot recommend them enough.
