Obitus provide the behind-the-scenes technology that helps funeral venues and funeral directors across the country deliver a fitting, dignified and seamless service for the bereaved families they serve. This includes music, photos and live streaming. We’re a small, dedicated, family-run team who care deeply about every funeral we help with. Most of the thousands of people every day who attend a funeral we’ve helped with never even know we exist, partly because our systems work so reliably the vast majority of the time. Over 5 million people have used our live streaming service during the last year and we’re proud we’ve been able to support so many families at this exceptionally difficult time. There are a lot of factors involved in delivering a live webcast, some within our control and many others outside of it. For example, we send the correct, automatically-generated usernames and passwords via email to the funeral venue, however it’s up to them, the funeral director and the family to share these details – very occasionally these get altered or miscommunicated while they’re being shared by others. We also don’t have control over the timings of the live stream, the starting and stopping of this is done by staff at the funeral venue who are running the service on the day – we are not present at the service. We help all of the venues we work with to understand the importance of a fast internet speed so that we can deliver the best possible quality and speed, but some venues are unable to provide this, often due to location or budget. We really do understand how upsetting it is when a live stream doesn’t go according to plan, and we’d like to apologise on behalf of all involved for anything that contributes to this occasionally happening. But we assure you we work as hard as we can to ensure nothing does go wrong, or to try and help as quickly as possible on the rare times it does. We don’t expect praise from families whose funerals we’ve helped with. We’re just doing our job and they have far higher priorities than thanking us. But we do ask that anyone reading these reviews to consider the context that we’ve explained above. In the same way most of the good reviews here are actually praising elements of the service we’re not responsible for, many of the poorer reviews are also addressing something outside of our reasonable control. We know we’re not perfect, but we get it right the vast majority of the time and we really do care, deeply. Anyone with questions, comments or concerns is welcome to email cs@obitus.com and we will gladly talk to you and help however we can. Please always include details of the venue, time and date of the service in any communications so we can work out exactly service you are referring to.

I have just watched the stream of my uncle's funeral, and quite honestly the quality is very poor. I could not see the picture of my Uncle on the screen, it appeared as just blank white space. It was only just possible to make out the faces of relatives, as their faces were extremely grainy. Very poor camera quality, or with low settings.

As a funeral celebrant, working in multiple crematoriums, I’ve found Obitus to be excellent in every respect. The customer care team are consistently quick, helpful, and responsive whenever I have queries on behalf of my clients, which makes a real difference during time-sensitive arrangements. The microphone quality is also very impressive; as a softly spoken person, I feel my voice is carried clearly and confidently throughout the chapel. Overall, a reliable and supportive service that genuinely enhances the experience for both celebrants and families.

A family had a minor complaint about a service provided by Obitus and the Crematorium, the issue that had arisen was out of every bodies control and even though this was the case and Obitus could have just ignored it, El from Obitus offered the best service and offered to not charge and give a free link to watch the service, the family were extremely grateful and it did not put any negativity on the service. great member of staff and thank you to Obitus.

It is clear that providing great customer service is a top priority for them, and that really shows in how they interact with us.

Easy to follow instructions, helpful staff and was the perfect way to follow my friend's service from the other side of the world. A vital service.

Feedback on Video Quality
The video quality was unacceptable. The camera's exposure settings were clearly affected by the bright window, resulting in a dark and grainy image where everyone and everything appeared underexposed. This was a waste of money, especially since we intended to share these moments with friends in the USA. It's disappointing to see such a lack of attention to detail. Shame on you for not ensuring a better viewing experience! Also the users name was sort of offensive too.

Utterly useless. They sent the wrong password and username for a funeral at 0930. It is now 0943.
Useless. Useless. Useless.

I was virtually attending a close relatives funeral as I'm overseas and unable to travel, the stream expired 30 minutes into the service. I cannot call them, no number available, tried calling random suggested off the internet NOTHING. I am devastated. I would NOT recommend them if you are streaming anything of importance.

First I was given a login for Obitas to enter stills and music for our upcoming ceremony but all I was able to do was upload a video that I was not able to review. I was not able to upload either still images or music. Just rubbish software from start to finish. And we paid for this service. I complained to the funeral directors and they gave me the number for Obitas but when I called they said talk to the funeral director. AGAIN ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.

The website is easy to navigate and there are the answers to many questions already available which really helps people when they are feeling stressed.
For those organising ceremonies it is very reassuring to have such a professional support team.
Andy at Obitus could not have been more helpful. Fantastic service, much appreciated.
Absolutely devastated to say the least. My dad’s funeral was supposed to be live streamed and then an on-demand was supposed to be available. However, on the day of the live-stream, there was only a black screen available throughout. We were not made aware of this until afterwards but I held out hope that maybe the service had still been recorded. I checked back multiple times over time to see if there was anything uploaded but there was nothing other than a message to say that editing was taking longer than usual. I took it upon myself to email the company to find out if there was an issue. I got an email back to say that “even the backup footage was effected by the black screen so unfortunately we aren’t able to recover the footage. Our sincerest apologies”. And that’s it. That is it. No solution. No nothing. Looking at other reviews and responses, apparently there’s supposed to be teams that check in on the streams etc. so how can this have happened???? We also had an issue the same day with there not being a link at all until my mother chased it up a couple of hours before the funeral. I am absolutely livid with this service. Like beyond words. My dads brother couldn’t attend the service after having an operation where he had spent two weeks in hospital and he was very poorly, this link was supposed to be for him. But now he can’t even watch the service back. It’s too late to do anything about it now. But in future I’d rather not even be given the option to livestream a funeral because of the disappointment afterwards when issues like this occur.

Response times and ongoing support exceptional.
The staff at Obitus are always helpful even when we ask them to do something out of the ordinary. The system is easy for us and our customers to use.
Andy and the team at Obitus are always so friendly and helpful.
As a funeral professional, they are always on hand to offer guidance to myself or any of the families I care for and nothing is ever too much trouble.
A fabulous service!
Obitus customer services are amazing and very helpful. They go out of there way to help me as a Celebrant and always do everything possible to help with any questions or enable my families to get what they need for their loved one's service.
The standard of music and visual tributes are outstanding
Thank you to all the Team at Obitus
As part of my celebrant training, I was required to complete the Obitus training. My emails were replied to quickly, the online training was thorough and my dashboard was created within 24 hours. The dashboard looks intuitive and I am amazed at the amount of content. This offering will enable me to offer families a unique funeral service for their loved one. I feel confident to contact the team should I have any future questions or need support.
As a new celebrant, I was extremely impressed with Obitus. Their system (both in Crematoria and the online planning and management tool) is super intuitive to use and their support and free training is gold standard. The range of funeral services from both the official arrangement side (range of music, planning, management) and also to the family (e.g. digital keepsakes, recorded service, live streaming) is superb. A really valuable addition to successful funeral ceremony planning and smooth delivery.
As a customer service experience, I can't think of a better company than Obitus to deal with.
The training with Andy is fantastic and if you do need to contact any of the team, they are all very professional, friendly and obviously care about getting the service right every time.
