I was nervous about travelling abroad…
I was nervous about travelling abroad for surgery, but the whole experience was excellent. The communication was very good, all of the people I dealt with both in the planning stages and when actually at the clinic were friendly, professional and efficient. My surgeon was brilliant and I honestly can't fault any part of the process.
Absolutely first class
From my initial engagement with Nord until my flight home after surgery I was extremely well cared for. All aspects of my trip were organised with complete professionalism, and I can't praise the staff highly enough. I felt well-informed and well cared for at every stage and wouldn't hesitate in recommending this company to anyone considering surgery outside of the UK.
Lesley from Swansea in South Wales UK
My name is Lesley from Swansea in South Wales and I am 71 years old. I attended the Nord Orthopaedic Clinic on 16th March 2026 for a total hip replacement. I cannot praise the service and care I received highly enough. I am not on Facebook so did not follow the Patient Support page. However I made contact with two ex patients through friends and they gave me so much information to take away my apprehension about going to the Clinic. It was amazing how many people know friends or family who have attended the Clinic once I let them know about my visit.
My initial contact in Nord was Kortryna who answered all my questions and sent me so much information about the service. She booked the Kaunas Hotel for us too! She gave me three date options for surgery and we booked our flights. The minibus was at the airport to take us to the Hotel. I was notified the previous day by WhatsApp when I was being picked up for Pre Op, surgery and each rehab physio session. The logistics team were superb.
On the day of my surgery the Surgeon, Sarunas Tarasevicius, came to see me and told me what was going to happen. He saw that I was nervous and told me not to worry and they would give me a sedative to walk me to the theatre. The Anaesthetist also came to let me know about the epidural. Once there everything went smoothly. The only shock I had was the ice cold spray on my lower back for the epidural. The next thing I knew was someone asking me how I was feeling and I said ‘very sleepy’. Everything was over and I was transferred to my bed and taken back to my room for recovery. That evening once the feeling had come back into my feet the nurse provided a steady and I was standing with full weight on my surgery leg! The nurses on the wards were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. You chose your food each day. The physiotherapist came with crutches and guided me how to use them including walking up and down stairs. I shared the room with a lady from Tonyrefail and we had a good laugh. She was in the same hotel and our husbands went out together for food in the evening.
On day of discharge from the Clinic we started our physio rehab with Professor Laimonas Siupsinskas and were taken back to the hotel with all the medication we needed, the afternoon exercises and the all important ice pack, which the Hotel Reception manages for you. You must never be in pain or have other problems. Ring the emergency number on your name tag and they will help you.
Another big plus of my whole experience was the friends we made when we went to physio together and occasionally went out for meals together. You can’t put a price on this.
I recommend anyone to learn more about the Nord Orthopaedic Clinic and make the decision to have their surgery there. Their website is excellent. I was looked after from the day of arrival to the day we were driven to the airport for our flight home. Exceptional care was provided by a wonderful Surgeon, Anaesthetist, Physiotherapist and Team and of course the Nursing and wider medical team. Thoroughly recommend staying in the Kaunas Hotel and get your Customer Service Representative to book it for you.

This clinic is truly second to none
I did quite a bit of research before deciding to take my hip to Lithuania, and I know that some people didn't at all like the idea of my going. I certainly proved them wrong because my experience, from start to finish, could not have been better. I was taken care of so well, and the physio was amazing. In fact, I was quite sad to be coming home, and will have no hesitation in returning for more surgery should the need arise.
Left Hip Replacement for my 70th
I had my left hip replacement 12 weeks ago and the standard of care and attention to details was excellent from start to finish. I opted to stay at Hotel Kaunas which was booked for me by Nord. I stayed for two nights after arriving and being picked up at the airport on Sunday night / pre op on the Monday then operation on the Tuesday. I had two nights in the clinic and after a physio session we were taken back to the hotel. Each afternoon we were sent a WhatsApp message giving us our physio time and were picked up and brought back. I opted for 8 days physio and was glad I did as I was well on my way to recovery and in the way of exercising when I returned. I have followed the programme that we were given and have rejoined my local gym and continuing to use the exercise bike and machines as well as walking (weather permitting) I met a great group of people who had come from all parts of UK, Ireland and Canada to have knee and hip surgery and if my other hip needs replaced I will certainly consider going back to Kaunas again - hopefully in the summer as I was there in January and temperatures were always minus with snow - although it was very pretty !
Nord have thought through everything needed - and provided it!
Nord have thought through everything and created a service that provides a seamless, efficient, stress free experience from beginning to end. This includes all transport within Lithuania, organisation of hotels and advice and support for air travel. The clinic itself provides everything at an excellence of standard that is difficult to be believed. From Pre-op welcome and tests, through consultations and anaesthesia, surgery, aftercare and a week in physio Nord cannot be faulted. I cannot praise it more highly.
Exceptional Healthcare
I cannot recommend NordOrthopedics in Kaunas, Lithuania highly enough. From beginning to end, my experience was nothing short of outstanding, and I’m genuinely grateful to the entire team for the life-changing care I received.
After years of dealing with persistent shoulder pain, I was facing an NHS waiting list of around 9 years - simply not a realistic option when it comes to quality of life. To make matters worse, when I needed support most, Benenden Health stepped away, leaving me feeling stuck and without clear options. That’s what led me to explore treatment abroad, and ultimately to NordOrthopedics.
Travelling to Lithuania felt like a big step, but it proved to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From the moment I arrived, everything was handled with professionalism, efficiency, and genuine care. The reception staff were welcoming, organised, and made the entire process seamless and stress-free.
The medical team were exceptional. The nurses were attentive, compassionate, and constantly reassuring, making sure I was comfortable throughout. A special thank you to Valdemar and Tadas - your expertise, honesty, and clear communication gave me complete confidence every step of the way.
What stood out most was the thoroughness of the diagnosis and treatment. Valdemar identified and addressed issues that had previously been noted but ultimately overlooked at Kingsbridge, Belfast. While I had initially been advised that certain procedures weren’t necessary, the team at NordOrthopedics recognised that my long head bicep tendon (SLAP tear) was likely a key source of my pain. This was treated alongside my rotator cuff repair during my shoulder arthroscopy - and that speaks for itself.
The level of care and attention to detail was second to none. Every part of the experience—from the drivers, reception staff (both pre-op and on the day of surgery), and nurses, to the surgical team and even the emergency on-call support - was exceptional. When I needed additional pain relief the following day, it was arranged and delivered within 40 minutes of my call. Absolutely incredible service.
If you’re facing long delays or feel like you’re not getting the answers you need at home, I would strongly encourage you to consider NordOrthopedics. They didn’t just provide treatment - they gave me real hope and a clear path towards a pain-free life.
Thank you again to every single member of the team

First class
My experience from Nordorthopaedics from start to finish has been first class. All the staff are extremely professional from the Coordinator, logistics team, receptionists, nurses, anaesthetist, surgeon and the physiotherapist. The Nord team will answer any questions/concerns you may have in a timely manner. The patient’s wellbeing is at the forefront of everything they do. My experience was the most positive outstanding treatment I have ever received. I would definitely return should I need to in the future and would highly recommend Nord.
Would absolutely recommend!!
From start to finish absolutely brilliant!! From first communication with Noringa and throughout the process everything run like clockwork. The surgery and aftercare exemplary. Logistics team most efficient and punctual snd since returning home have emailed with a few queries and always prompt reply.
Would absolutely recommend!!
First Class Experience
I had a bunionectomy at Nordorthopaedics on 4 March.
At 49 years old, this was my first surgery and I was nervous. From my initial contact enquiring about surgery options, Agne was excellent. She responded promptly to my queries, provided information proactively and liaised with the surgeon to arrange X-rays to be completed at Nord after being let down by a hospital in the UK.
The clinical care was excellent. The surgeon (Dr Kymtys) took time to explain the procedure during consultation. He performed an additional procedure to correct the positioning of one of the screw fixings to ensure he was completely happy there would be no post Op complications- at no additional cost.
All of the hospital staff I dealt with were professional and personable. The rooms are 1 -2 person capacity and the food was excellent.
The entire experience from the logistics to clinical and aftercare were first class. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nord and will likely return to have the other foot done in the future.
First class treatment.
From my initial contact with Agne' at Nordorthopaedics my whole shoulder surgery experience was absolutely first class.
The whole journey was made simple and straightforward by regular contact and quick replies to any email queries.
My time in the clinic I could not fault the care from all the staff from reception to all the medical staff and nursing staff, all very professional and friendly.
Collections and drop off from the clinic's drivers all on time made the whole experience stress free.
Overall I would definitely recommend Nordorthopaedics to anyone who is thinking about travelling for surgery, you will be in very good hands.
I have worked in UK operating theatres…
I have worked in UK operating theatres for 30 years as an Operating Department Practitioner. I needed a medial meniscus repair that I would have waited years for on the NHS, or paid an extortionate amount to go private here in the UK. My experience as a patient at Nordorthopaedic has been exceptional. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them.
Fab Hip Replacement
Wanted to post re my recent experience at Nords. I had a left hip replacement. I’m currently 14 days post surgery and woke up this morning thinking YES!!! It’s all been absolutely brilliant - from take off in London to landing home. I cannot recommend them highly enough and to anyone who’s fearful in any way - be assured - it’s brilliant. And worth it. I’d previously had my right hip replaced privately in France when I lived there (I fell off a horse a few years ago…) and my experience was similar. To be honest, I’m happy that I didn’t have it done in the UK, and especially as I was quoted £19k!
In all with surgery, physio, flights, hotels and expenses (including an £150 uber trip in the uk) I spent just under £9500. Worth every penny
Nord are so professional from first…
Nord are so professional from first contact with customer services (Neriga.. what a professional and kind person she is) to excellent surgery and amazing physio re-hab! Thank you Nord ... second TKR
Right hip replacement surgery
I was referred for hip replacement surgery through the NHS but as I could see no light at end of the tunnel even after 3 years I had to look elsewhere as I was in extreme pain.
Yeah it was a big decision going abroad for surgery (scared of the unknown). After doing some research and hearing good reviews I took the plunge.
Can I say I've never looked back, I had a fantastic experience at Nord Clinic in Kaunas Lithuania from start to finish. I dealt with a woman called Ange who was fantastic she organised everything except flights and accommodation.
My whole experience was outstanding from dealing with the Reception (Administration) staff dealing with all paperwork, Logistics team taking me to and from the Clinic, Consultant (surgeon) he was top class, Nursing Staff very helpful / informative and Laimonas the physiotherapist he was excellent organising physio exercises for individuals care needs. They were all very professional, competent and very friendly, I cannot praise them enough. My only grumble is I wish I had known about Nord Clinic beforehand instead of waiting on the NHS. My advice to anyone is stop putting it off, book Nord Orthopaedic Clinic in Kaunas, you wont be disappointed.
Getting your life back
What is there left to say about this clinic that hasn't already been said before, absolutely amazing from start to finish, from first contact to coming home after you finish your rehab, they are there in your corner, constantly making sure that everything is alright. I have just had my second surgery with them, a TKR after having a THR back in 2024, I have got my life back. Thank you Prof Sarunas and your team, to many to mention, please pass on my thanks and may you go from strength to strength and continue to make peoples lives better with the work that you do
Total Knee Replacement at Nordorthopaedics Clinic
I recently had a Total Knee Replacement at the Nordorthopaedics clinic and would like to share my experience with others who may be considering this, as I was grateful for the views of those that had posted reviews when I was researching the possibility of surgery.
My first contact was via email with Agnė from customer services who helped and advised all the way through the process, from booking our accommodation to arranging our transport from the airport and arranging my appointment to meet the team at the clinic. She was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient, and I can’t thank her enough for her support.
The medical team at the clinic were very friendly and professional. I had my pre operative assessment and was given the time and date of my surgery.
My surgeon, Professor Šarūnas Tarasevičius met me before the operation and explained the procedure and answered any questions I had, in a friendly and straightforward manner. He visited me after the operation to check up and advise.
I decided to have nine days at the outpatient physiotherapy clinic under the supervision of Professor Laimonas Šiupšinskas. He created a personalised plan for me and acted in a patient and caring manner throughout my sessions with him.
Choosing Nordorthopaedics was the best decision I could have made. I am incredibly grateful for their expertise, compassion and high standard of care I received.
I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking work-class orthopaedic treatment.
I chose Nordorthopedics for a TRHR,I…
I chose Nordorthopedics for a TRHR,I was recommended by 1 of my colleagues who had been on 2 occasions for hip replacement.
From start to finish everything from communications, all pickups (airport, pre op tests and physio)surgeon meet, anesthetist meet, nurses on the ward and physio have been amazing.
I travelled alone.
So just to summarise Very impressive service and impressive care I will recommend to anyone who needs a replacement hip 100%
And a big thank you from me to all at Nordorthopaedics.
Knee success story
My choice of Nord for my Total Knee Replacement was strongly influenced by the quality, variety and credibility of the information made available about the Nord programme. I went to (very cold in February) Kaunas with the trepidation of a 70 year old who never had major surgery before. I left 10 days later realising how realistically my expectations had been managed; there was pain, but it was managed, and there was physical trauma, which receded with satisfying speed through the door excellent on-site physiotherapy (which was also a social occasion every day).
Nord is a production line, churning out successful hips and knees every day, but it always felt personal, and I can't think of anything that should have been included in the treatment package which was not.
12 days after the operation I am walking confidently without crutches (now that I am away from the ice underfoot in Kaunas), and continue to be cautiously delighted with my daily progress.
