Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 360 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers frequently praise the friendly, efficient staff at the desk and mention that airport pick-up and drop-off processes are remarkably quick and entirely stress-free. Travelers truly appreciate the transparent, all-inclusive pricing model, which covers full insurance without any unexpected hidden fees or large security deposits required upfront. Some reviewers were not happy with vehicle maintenance, mentioning unexpected mechanical troubles, flat tires, and feeling left on their own when trying to get prompt roadside assistance. A few other people also felt that the cars sometimes showed signs of heavy use, with scratches or scuffs present upon collection.

We rented a car for while in Ireland…

We rented a car for while in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Standard, two drivers, with the FULL insurance package on line. From start to finish the entire process was smooth and fast. Drop off was a breeze. We just handed in our keys, and were off!! It was worth every penny to have the peace of mind on our drive around the entire Island.

Newway car rental -a convenient and well priced option.

Newway car rental worked well in Dublin. Their location made it quick and easy to pick- up the car and exit Dublin airport. Prices are very reasonable and the car functioned well on all motorways and small streets.

When I arrived at the desk to pick up…

When I arrived at the desk to pick up the keys for the car that I had organised to hire for 3 weeks,I asked if the car had navigation system that the screen could connected to my phone and I was told there washy the girl on duty.

I had hired car previously from your company and had navigation and I had brought a connection cord for the purpose which I showed the girl on duty.

When I went downstairs and tried to connect I discovered there was not a screen and I politely asked the man on duty about it and he advised there was no screen for navigation and tried to pawn off a Garman navigation system on me. He was very rude, not interested and not professional in any way so i had to go all the way back upstairs with my luggage only to be told that I would have to take the shuttle bus to the car hire depot at Dublin Airport to get one with a screen.

The car that I was given was an old car with 91,000 Km missing one hud cap and the wipers were as noisy as all hell when turned on and didn't fit the window correctly so therefore difficult to see properly in rain.

This I discovered when I was well on my way down the country.
I reported this when I returned the car but the gentleman on the desk couldn't care less when I mentioned this issue.

My previous experience was exceptionally good but this time around service was poor and the quality of the car not good enough especially when hiring for 3 weeks..

I discovered this the NewWay is owned by Budget and I have have had problems with the quality of cars with Budget in the past (example from bumper falling off at pick up point etc.) I would never hire from Budget again due to the quality of their cars and now I feel the Newway is headed in the same direction.

I hired a car in Montenegro the previous week, service was magnificent and the car had only 79km on it and the staff were so professional in comparison..
I live in Australia and return to Ireland every year and have done so for 40 years and I find hiring a car a difficult experience compared to other countries around the world. Newway this time around provided poor service at the desk, downstairs when the car gets picked up and on return of the car. The quality of the car was very poor and definitely would not look to hire at Newway or Budget again.
The most annoying part is being put in a position that you have to return to the staff at the desk and argue to get what a reasonable person would expect when they hire a car.

Hi Paul,

We are very disappointed to hear about your experience during your recent car rental, this is not typical of the high standard that we strive for and that you should expect.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any discontent felt during this rental.

We aren't part of the Avis Budget group, however, we have a great working relationship with Avis Budget. We are a small Irish business and Avis Budget are kind enough to assist us and our customers which allows us to provide the best rental experience possible.

As our small business grows, we will be able to expand to other locations and offer additional services to our customers. For now, we are very grateful to Avis Budget for the assistance that they provide.

Good car, some formalities hard to digest

Great car, hybrid, with AndroidAuto full function.
The only downside, even with full insurance guy's looking for scratches and filling some useless formulaire.

Don’t bother with NewWay

This is our second time renting from NewWay, and probably the last time. Last year the TPMS light on our NewWay hire car illuminated, which led us to pull over on a busy highway. We “eyeballed” the 4 tyres; they all looked good. We drove cautiously to the nearest town where we went to a tire shop that graciously checked the tyres, found them actually OVERINFLATED!!! They adjusted the pressure to the correct value , and tried to reset the warning light, to no avail. They speculated that the tyres had been overinflated (possibly by the service department of NewWay) in an attempt to extinguish the TPMS light. They assured us that there was nothing wrong with the tyres themselves, and the car was perfectly safe to drive. Since we were many hours away from the closest NewWay centre, we didn’t return the car until the end of the rental period. When we returned the car we told them what had happened . There was no response other than thanks for letting them know. A modest discount, either on the rental we returned, or on our next car hire would have been a good business practice.
On our next car from NewWay the passenger window went down about 1/3 of the way, and then promptly quit, going neither up nor down. We had a 4 hour drive to return the car, which was not a pleasant drive on the motorway with the window down like that. When we returned the car, we told them what had happened. The NewWay rep asked the NewWay check in rep if there had been any signs that the window had been forced open! I told them that it had just stopped operating. Again, no apology or offer of any type of compensation.
We used NewWay because of their all-inclusive insurance policy. Next time we will use Enterprise or another top-tier agency and buy all their extra insurance policies.
It is interesting that NewWay asked us to post a review, but there is no means to send them a review directly. Obviously they don’t really care.

NO Insurance Nightmare

NO Insurance Nightmare. Great quick efficient service but the best was the insurance none of the usual car rental nonsense - just straightforward full cover at a great price - unlike the poor woman I overheard renting at the next counter who was being asked if she would like windscreen cover as that was just another thing that was not included in her rental.

Did not live up to promises

The claim was that giving our flight number a car would be waiting - it was the opposite - car was asked for when we arrived. We went to wait for it and 45 minutes later a different car was produced. It was fine. When we returned it then there were further problems as the contract had not been updated. I expected Newday to be different but basically they are Avis and not apart at all

Hi Andrew,
Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback below.

We are sorry to hear that you were delayed longer the expected, during your recent rental. Dublin Airport is Ireland's busiest airport locations and despite continually evolving rosters and planning unfortunately at times the flow of people to the pickup location can be affected by external factors such as flight delays, queues at passport control and baggage, late returns and early arrivals etc...

Our agents work hard to process everyone's rental as quickly as possible, and we are sorry if this did not meet your requirements on this occasion.

We aren't part of the Avis Budget group, however, we have a great working relationship with Avis Budget. We are a small Irish business and Avis Budget are kind enough to assist us and our customers which allows us to provide the best rental experience possible. We have a limited number of spaces in the Terminal Car Park and they allow us to use their spaces if all of ours are occupied, they have many locations throughout Ireland and will facilitate changeovers and offer breakdown assistance if a customer is not located near a NewWay desk. They can also process rentals on our behalf if there is a queue at our desk or the rental agent has to step away briefly.

We have our own desk, fleet of cars and customer service team.

As our small business grows, we will be able to expand to other locations and offer additional services to our customers. For now, we are very grateful to Avis Budget for the assistance that they provide.
