Staff I met were very helpful and friendly. Don't expect any healthy food though and at 20:15 I could not get a hot drink even though my flight is after 22:00..the music is the cafe and pub area was very noisy and very loud loud and repetitive..how do the staff stick it blaring away. Its OK to pass through quickly but not pleasant if you have to wait a couple of hours. Even if we just had one hot drink and packet food open until later it would be more pleasant. Cannot hear any announcements over the music while seated in food area.

DO NOT USE MEET AND GREET.

DO NOT USE MEET AND GREET.
Left our vehicle here 14th June to 25th June 2025 in excellent condition and picked it up with a smashed windscreen which is clearly shown on CCTV as going in with no damage and comes out with smashed windscreen which is £1200 to replace. They deny all knowledge and said something must have accidentally fallen on it or it's a stress fracture !!! ABSOLUTE JOKE. DO NOT TRUST YOUR CAR WITH THESE PEOPLE

No push back tractor

Sat inside the aircraft, which is stuck at the departure gate, unable to push back, because the pushback tractor that the airport ground services use to push the airplane back, run out of battery. It is only electric and as such, has locked on to the aircraft front wheel and cannot be released from the aircraft, to allow the use of an alternative pushback tractor. So far the flight is already delayed by over 1hr and 45 minutes of this has been just waiting fastened in our seats, not going anywhere. The ground crew tel the captain that they do not know how long we will have to wait here like this. They are "looking" for a technician to try to resolve the issue. I thought there should be many technician on shift, since this airport is having flights in and out 24/7. Just unacceptable! Hope our flight does not get canceled all together! That would destroy our holidays!!! Poor preparation, poor technical skill, poor problem solving, poor management!!!

ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES AND TOTAL CONTEMPT FOR THE PASSENGERS

Do not know where to start with this absolute comedy show that I had this afternoon when arriving back from my holiday in Tunisia. It was nothing short of a disgrace. Arrived at the airport and somehow the special assistance for the disabled arrived before the buses to take us to the terminal! We waited half an hour for a bus that was crammed to the rafters. It must have been double the capacity on each one. Two buses for nearly 200 passengers! This airport cannot cope with the higher volume of people, it is understaffed and I think they don't really give a toss about the customers. It took 65 minutes to leave the aircraft and go through passport control at 3pm in the afternoon. The escalator to passport control did not work, that is because after travelling many times over the last 23 years as I'm a local, they obviously can't be bothered to maintain it to a 1st world standard, Have absolutely no idea how the elderly and less able passengers would cope with that. Collecting our luggage was no better either. Hundreds of passengers packed in like sardines around all the conveyor belts. We were all treated like cattle as this airport is not fit for purpose as it is an embarrassment for 2024.

Incompetent Service!

Myself and my disabled Husband checked in on Thursday 13th June at the Jet2 holidays desk, Newcastle Airport and we’re heading to Chania for 1week break.
I informed Jet2 that my Husband required special assistance throughout the airport (wheelchair, fast track through security and an amulift to board the aircraft) This was all confirmed with the jet2 team over the telephone and via the jet2 app.
I was reassured at checkin that the special assist team were informed and we were advised to attend Gate 19 exactly 1hr before our departure time.
We arrived at Gate 19 at 4:30 to allow plenty time to provide staff with details.
Special assist was very quiet and seemed to be operating very smoothly.
I handed our boarding passes to the assistant where he checked our names and flight details on the system.
We were then told to sit down and wait in a allocated area and that staff would assist us shortly.
While we waited, the staff were sat around the desk discussing their employment roles and topics they weren’t happy with!
We waited over 1 hr for this service and not one member of staff communicated with us or checked whether there was any updates/delays with our flight!!
I started to worry after I heard the final call announcement for our flight and approached the desk.
I asked Lisa if our flight was delayed and was told, “You’ll know more than me, with the app on your phone!”
She then checked the flight and panicked saying, head to gate 21 now and board the plane! She then told me there was a bridge to the aircraft so the amulift wasn’t needed!
Her colleague offered to escort us to the gate to find the jet2 staff shouting at us to hurry, checking our names, informing the pilot that we’d arrived and my Husband has a walking aid!
She then requested our luggage to be placed back onto the plane! I was mortified!
They asked me where we were and why we’ve shown up late. I told her what had happened and that we were sitting waiting for assistance. The flight staff then informed us that they radioed special assist to check if we were there waiting yet special assist staff replied stating, there isn’t anyone here waiting!
The Incorrect surname had been entered by the special assist team however, the person responsible for this mistake was present the whole time we were waiting yet too busy talking!
Instead of receiving the assistance required, my Husband was trying his best to run to the aircraft!!
We faced a fully booked flight with lots of angry faces all as a result of incompetence and lack of customer care!
Disgusting experience and the staff present showed no remorse for their mistake!
Jet2 staff and Chania airport staff were amazing, they assisted my Husband onto the plane and were very professional/friendly, making sure he was comfortable the whole time.
Newcastle special assist should be ashamed of this neglect!!

Parking a car is a total con

Why is it that a few months ago I used meet and greet for 7 nights cost £85 then tried to book for 10 day now £142 , I did comparison sites and they all offer different percentage discounts but they are all the same price even with a NHS discount they are a right con , they offer all totally different percentage discounts but the price is the same from all of the companies , and if you think you get a better deal from outside the airport they are all owned by Newcastle international airport limited so how come the monopolies commission is not stopping that, there is no competition coz they own them all, even Arrow taxis is run by them so a taxi to where I live 12 mile is £47 another rip off because the drivers don’t get that, a portion is taken by the airport , then don’t get started about the extortion of prices inside the airport they are a massive profit making company

Usually book in Britannia Hotel with parking . Stopped one night with 3 course dinner. Arrived into the hotel parked the car up and went to reception got informed that I was not parking on the grounds of the hotel which I usually do and told I was in long stay round the corner. The long stay carpark haas very poor Pedestrian Access and had to limbo under a barrier to get back to the hotel. Get's home and a bill arrived for parking in the hotel grounds. I was literally 11 minutes and they wanted £60 !!. Anyhow that got sorted apparently the person on Reception forgot to register my car. Yesterday I recieved another £60 pound fine for pulling into the side of the road to pick my Wife up and the cases. There was no way of me getting to the long stay by foot and with cases. What a cheek. Never ever using that Rip-Off Airport again. You have been warned !!.

Thumbs up Newcastle Airport

Flew in from Malaga today, Malaga airport was heaving with people queues to gates were 1 hour long. Flight and crew from Malaga to Newcastle Airport very good had a short delay on transfer bus from plane into airport for safety reasons staff were apologetic and polite. Excellent service from customs staff so lucky to have a wonderful airport in our region.

Great security experience

Usually fly from @EdinburghAirport and am always disappointed. By comparison, Newcastle Airport is clean and fresh and well maintained. Security staff were very pleasant and had a bit of craic. They took the time to explain what was going on and explain why my hand luggage had been pulled for inspection. Maybe @Edi_Airport should use the same recruiters as they are a humpty bunch.

Absolutely horrendous experience!! Arrived from Kos at 1.20 on a jet 2 flight this morning in torrential rain!! Took 1 and a half hours to get from aircraft to exit!! Left on a coach like cattle in the middle of the runway for half an hour no info!! Eventually collected luggage which had obviously been left outside with no weather protectors the suitcase and clothes inside are absolutely sodden!!! Have complained to airport await response!!! Horrendous experience

Worst baggage reclaim every time

Left on 10th May. Compared to Leeds Bradford, Newcastle is 100% better. Parking prices absolutely disgraceful. Nice and modern jnside although need more seating. Returned from Sorrento 17th May about 2pm as usual baggage reclaim is the worst I have come across in Europe. Akways takes an age up to 40mins for cases to start coming through... why?

Ryanair Flight FR3169 to BCN

Ryanair Flight FR3169 to BCN
Another shocking experience at Ncl Airport.
Security through the supposedly super-new high tech machines found a bar of chocolate in my bag that is a threat! Last time it was a laptop that they insisted had to stay in the bag but after it went through the machine, it had to come out of the bag to be checked!!
Departure lounge was like sitting in a night club with music bouncing and unable to hear a phone call.
Over priced and lacking quality.

Parking is a complete rip off

Parking is a complete rip off , signage for the drop off area is none existent you need a map before you go , convenient for the airport as make a mistake it can cost you and they are making a killing from strangers. Greedy bar stewards.

Security Line was very slow

Security Line was very slow, the supposed new scanners are not doing their job if you still have to get all your stuff out. Fast track was s waste of money, big increase in price and not fit for purpose at this moment in time. Appreciate its a new system so time will tell. On another note the chap that dealt with all our bags was exceptionally polite and professional.

Liquid in? Liquids out? Newcastle Airport doesn’t know either

Great news, the new ‘leave it all in your bag’ scanners have arrived. The great headline “leave everything in your bag”, you even get scorned for removing stuff. Last two times through, my bag gets sent to secondary screening because “it’s your liquids” - totally compliant, but they still can’t decide whether it’s in, or out. They need to decide otherwise this summer is going to be chaos at this dreadful airport.
I don’t mind removing stuff if it’s going to be a problem but they actually rebuke you if you start removing the stuff that is going to cause a problem for them.
Then, to top it all off, some bright spark decided to put the trainee officers on the fast track lane - I kid you not.
Ugh, what a horrid experience. This airport really needs someone in charge of security.

Worse airport ever, especially the car park fees and the red line/fences on the side of the road. A low grade airport ever, the shame of Northeast.
