Couldn’t find our car!!

Returned from Fuerteventura on Wednesday evening and went to collect our car from the long-term car park. After trudging around for 45 minutes pulling suitcases in the dark and freezing cold we couldn’t find it. We contacted the carpark security team who were so helpful and found the car for us!! We were so grateful for their help and the cups of tea to thaw us out!!

Smart but limited.

Nice, clean airport, especially when compared to many others in northern England.
Big negative is the rubbish choice of direct flights to popular/interesting locations: it was better 10-20 years ago. Even flights to Málaga are all at about 0600, which is a nightmare as far as I am concerned.

So you need to study the small print. Wish I'd read their reviews before binning 6.50 of my money!!

Parking/Dropping off.

Parking/Dropping off.
There is signage that says 15 minutes free parking in Short Stay Carpark 1 and 2.
So my friend dropped me off in Short Stay Carpark 1, was there about 90 seconds, on exiting was told that the signage on Shortstay Carpark 1 saying 15 minutes free parking, refers to Short Stay 2 carpark, which is totally stupid as the sign for Short Stay Carpark clearly says on it Free parking for 15 minutes, so it's just a con to get £7 out of people who read the clearly stated 15 minutes free parking, o ly to be charged £7.
Newcastle Airport need to remove it, as its wrong and just a con.

Ok but all about departures

The airport is clean and easy to navigate. Departure was fine but in bound the E Passport system was slow and inefficient. It kept rejecting passports so people still had to have passports checked by staff. The case retrieval took 70 minutes and staff took far too long. The air park buses to take you to your car are a joke. They never run. Been to better airport facilities than this!

45 mins to collect bags!!

Domestic flight from LHR, 45 mins in the air, great. Then 45 mins to collect bags and there were no other flights!!! Disgraceful speed of service.

Go to another airport if you can

Everything that could be wrong about an airport is here. Astronomical price for parking, extra long waits for shuttle bus (at 3 in the morning, it’s not fun). It’s overcrowded and excessively noisy. Help with hidden disabilities is laughable (fast track onto a bus to the plane doesn’t help… and no signposting to assist bypass through customs on return). If you can, go somewhere else!

What a joke of an airport

What a joke of an airport. Took nearly anwhole hour to get off the plane and through passport control. Family’s get priority when there is like a couple of dozen of them but 300 other passengers have to wait in a stuplid que system, surely it should be the other way round and you’ll clear the que quicker. No wonder I prefer Teesside. And the staff are miserable and think they are actual police !

Exhorbitent increase in car park charges

Car park charge for week in October booked in January was £79 but for week in September booked in August had risen to £128 after discount. How can this be justified?
Now cheaper to use local taxi service.

Rip Off Parking charges

Rip Off Parking charges, After being quoted 100% more costs to park than previous years for long stay parking. There is no way they can justify this for the same location and piece of tarmac. Bad management or greedy shareholders.

I travelled out to Malaga last Thursday…

I travelled out to Malaga last Thursday the 29th of August, a party of 16 for my nieces hen party. I reached out to Laura and Carly to check if we were able to reserve a table for our group. When we arrived we discovered a family had taken our table and disposed of all of the lovely banners and back drops that Carly had arranged for us. When we approached the group they denied they had done this. We later discovered from CCTV they had indeed destroyed the table and thrown the reserve sign on the floor. Despite the airport being extremely bus Carly found us another table in the Aster & Thyme restaurant and even managed to decorate the table for us. Fantastic service under a lot of pressure.

Thank you Carly, Laura and all the team.

SKY HIGH PRICES

The most expensive perfume and after shave prices in the North East. It is a complete con for them to say their prices are on average 20% cheaper than the high street. It’s not even worth looking around knowing how much extra you are being asked to pay.

Horrendous security process & staff !!!

Travelled through Newcastle airport on 21st August,2024 and had a nightmare experience with security. My wife and I passed through the security process and were then informed that my wife's 100 ml bottle of Kenzo Jungle perfume was not being allowed to pass the screening test as it contained something that was not allowed ??? We were informed that we should go back to the Jet2 check in desk and put it in the hold. This we did but were notified that the bag containing only the bottle of perfume was too small to check in. At this point another Jet2 agent asked to see the bottle of perfume - however on opening the bag I dropped it and the bottle smashed.
If the perfume was too suspicious to be carried in our hand luggage how could they even suggest trying to put it in the hold ???
When I went back through the security again about 10 minutes after I had passed through without any questions I was pulled aside and told there was a problem with my shoes ?? I had to put my feet in a machine but they were still not happy so I then had to remove my shoes and they were passed through another x-ray machine. At this point I had to have both my legs rubbed down. After I recovered my shoes another staff member said there was a problem with my waistcoat and he wanted to search every pocket . Once again he found nothing. My point is how could I pass through security the first time without a hitch but 10 minutes later security find various things that are suspicious.
As a 75 year old person I found this whole process stressful and daunting.
On top of that my wife lost a 100 ml EDP Kenzo Jungle perfume which cost in excess of £100.

Premium Meet and Greet left my car unlocked

I used the Premium Meet and Greet service for my car while on holiday in August 2024. While away I received a notification from my car's onboard computer that it had been left unlocked. By the time I saw this it had been unlocked for over 7 hours. There is no way to contact them on a weekend, despite running a 24/7 service, so I could not get in touch with anyone about it.

On my return home, I spoke to a supervisor about this and, after some discussion, he agreed that it was not acceptable and promised an investigation and some form of compensation. Once in contact via e-mail, this changed and the company now maintain there is nothing wrong with your car being left unlocked as it is in the secure area. Given the onerous burdens placed upon the consumer by their terms and conditions, compared with their very lax interpretation of their responsibilities, I would advise drivers not to use this service or to be very cautious when leaving their vehicles.

Above and beyond, well done.

Returned from our holiday in Spain today (Friday 16th August) to find my car passenger window taped up with a message attached. Our passenger window hadn't been shut properly when we arrived for our flight on Tuesday 6th of August and the security team had spotted this and made our car secure. Fantastic job and we are extremely grateful to the staff at Newcastle Airport. Thank You, John Fraser.

Lovely experience :)

I had an issue with Ryanair’s online check in which meant I had to check in at the airport and was expected to pay £100 for the check in at the airport. However, a lovely colleague called Pamela resolved this issue for me and my partner without having to pay any check in fees. She is a credit to the company :)
