We have 2020 Mercedes E53

We have 2020 Mercedes E53. We purchased this car in 2021 as certify car from Mercedes dealer. We are older people and used this car only for pleasure. After 18K miles car have so many problems like leak's, bearings, seats, rooftop, wheels for total cost of repair of 15K. We never expect that we buy car for 100K and after 18K miles there will be so many issues and not only in one area of the car but all over !!!!! I was hoping that MB will stand behind their product but I was wrong !!!! We contacted Mercedes costumer service and basically there is no assistance. Mercedes lost quality and costumer !!!!! Not recommending to anybody to invest in poor quality Mercedes Benz !!!! Bad choice !!!!!

Extremely Disappointed with Overcharging and Poor Service at Mercedes-Benz Southend

I would give a 0 if I could!!!

I recently took my 2015 Mercedes-Benz C Class to Mercedes-Benz Southend for repairs and was hit with an outrageous bill. My car’s ECU was faulty because of a wrong coding sent from a diagnostic tool, and I made sure this was clearly explained in the booking notes, when I dropped off the car, and even over the phone around 11 a.m. when I suspected that the technician had no clue what was going on (they’re supposed to be highly skilled techs, after all!). Yet, I was charged £666 just for diagnostics—despite spelling out the issue for them right from the start. Basically, they billed me for redundant checks on a problem I’d already identified.

When I collected my car and challenged the charges, the supervisor’s response was dismissive, suggesting that because most customers “don’t have knowledge in these matters,” they had to carry out all checks. This essentially translates to treating all customers as uninformed (to not say stupid in other words) and, in my case, ignoring clear information about the issue to justify overcharging for redundant diagnostics.

After much back and forth, the supervisor eventually admitted that the £444 seemed high and offered to cut it in half, which I’d have been fine with. But once he found out I’d already paid in full, he said he couldn’t make any adjustments, leaving me with no way to resolve this.

It’s absurd to come in with a specific problem, be clear about what’s wrong, and end up paying £222 + £444 just to confirm what I told them at the start (plus an additional £1,345 for the ECU itself, which I expected). Southend claims I agreed to all charges, but they conveniently didn’t mention that the initial £222 diagnostic fee wasn’t included in the quoted charges. I only found this out at the end of the day when I realized the £444 was for two extra hours of checks, which didn’t even include the initial diagnostic.

Honestly, if I’d known that, I’d never have agreed to pay for two extra hours. What could they possibly be doing for three hours when I’d already told them the ECU was unresponsive? Any skilled tech, with my notes in front of them, should have just checked the ECU pinouts, which would have shown there was no data coming out. Instead, they wasted two hours checking fuses and wires when I’d made it clear it was a software issue, not a physical fault. (And really, what is there to check for two hours? There are only two plugs altogether.)

On top of all this, I had to chase them down for an invoice, which I didn’t receive when I collected the car. I eventually requested it by email last week, but only got it today after following up by phone—they didn’t even bother to answer my email. When I filed a complaint, Customer Service backed Southend’s approach, said a goodwill request was submitted (and quickly denied), and reiterated that I agreed with the charges (again, not knowing that the initial diagnostic of £222 was not included in the £444 they asked for the investigation).

This shows a total disregard for customer input and a lack of transparency.

I would never, ever use any Mercedes Dealership again after being ripped off in such a shameful way, and I plan to take this to The Motor Ombudsman to get it properly looked into.

Hopefully, sharing my experience will help other customers make more informed choices about where to take their cars for repairs.

Extremely poor after sales customer service

I have had two occasions to call upon Mercedes customer service UK, and on both occasions, they failed miserably! They are incompetent, will not take charge of your customer service issue, will not escalate upon request, will not give you updates, will not give you a complaints procedure and will give you default answers every time you email them, default answer “apologies for the inconvenience”. What use is this!. Basically, there is no substance In their responses, and they act like robots! The aforementioned comments have been raised on many occasions over the past couple of weeks and Mercedes UK customer service have failed abysmally. They are just a fire guard, and that’s all they act as as they give you no information, and leave you without services you’ve paid for. My navigation subscription on my 10 month old Mercedes was cancelled, for no reason. Whilst this is clearly a mistake as it should be for three years, Mercedes failed to update me, failed to escalate, failed to assign me a complaints manager failed to give me their complaints procedure even though I have requested it on several occasions. For a premium car company, Mercedes should be absolutely ashamed of themselves, for their poor customer service and for the way they treat their customers. Once they have your money and you’ve bought the car, they don’t care! Well, that’s certainly the impression they’ve given me on the two occasions I’ve had to deal with them. Absolutely appalled disgusted I’m pretty cheesed off. Get it sorted Mercedes, Get your house in order, get a complaints manager on board, and treat your customers who have a complaint, with respect and sense of urgency. My Request Number: 09736290. Mercedes contact me, as I am absolutely getting nowhere with your customer service team.

My 5 star experience is only because of…

My 5 star experience is only because of one individual (nick) working at silverstar decarie… I have spent the whole year since I bought my car at the garage trying to fix SEVERE problems with Mercedes West Island with no help and nothing fixed or solved and as soon as I came to the silverstar on decarie nick quickly helped fix the problems with my car even escalated it to Mercedes Benz Canada and voila my car was fixed! I wish I could give someone else a good review but he’s the only one that helped me … without him I would probably be in court !

Advertise used MB cars that have already been sold

Mercedes Benz Hamburg advertise with used Mercedes Benz cars on their website that have already been sold. Then you can waste your time taking an interest in something you can't buy anyway. It is pure fraud and a waste of the customers' time.

Horrible Customer Service: Arlington, VA

Horrible Customer Service at the Arlington location by Antonio Rivera and Geoffrey Smith whom both has zero consideration for their customer’s time. They lack basic customer service etiquettes and will leave you waiting with zero follow ups until you personal seek answers. Antonio Rivera made it clear a loaner was not allowed which I understood and told him I’d wait after asking for an estimated completion time being I needed to get back to work. After waiting over 3hrs for a basic oil change I was told by Geoffrey Smith my vehicle should be ready shortly but he’s stepping out for lunch. I asked to use the rest room and was told I need to go across the street due to construction or use the trailers out back which were unsanitary but it’s due to the building being under construction which only added frustration to my 3hr wait that Mr. Rivera told me would be roughly an hour upon checking in for my 0930 appointment. He gave me an estimate of 11Am service completion and it was not until I reached out via text to Mr. Smith that he came and told me my car was still waiting to be serviced. Two hours later Mr. Smith came and told me he’s going to lunch. Out of frustration I eventually walked into the service area and saw my vehicle was ready yet no one notified me. I asked three different associates for help with simply taking my payment so that I could leave. Mr. Umana offered to help take my payment and ensure my car was pulled out….his level of curotisy and customer service is should be the standard.

Do not purchase a Mercedes if you value your safety

Hello everyone,

I would like to strongly urge you not to buy a Mercedes if you value your life. Please save yourself from the nightmare experience I have undergone for the past several months. I purchased a brand new GLE450 in 2023. As of now, it has 5000 miles (approx.) after 18 months. At around 2000 miles, a problem began and there have since been approximately 6 instances (and becoming more frequent!) that the car has displayed a “Malfunction” message and the engine has shut off while the vehicle is in motion, one of which occurred while in busy Los Angeles traffic. I have taken the car to the dealership several times to investigate, and each time they send me home stating that they cannot find any diagnostic codes so they cannot perform any repairs, while advising me to continue driving the vehicle as is. Okay, understandable, if It cannot be repaired by the dealership, then logic would determine I have been sold a lemon and this needs to be resolved with the corporate office. Upon filing a repurchase claim with MB corporate office, they have denied the claim, stating the below:

“After a thorough review, we found that your vehicle does not meet the criteria for a refund or replacement under the "Lemon Law." Our investigation indicates that the repair history of your vehicle does not qualify it for repurchase or replacement. Specifically, the vehicle must have defects covered by MBUSA's written warranty that substantially impair its use, value, and/or safety and that have not been repaired after a reasonable number of attempts. Since your vehicle's repair history does not meet these legal requirements, we must respectfully decline your request to repurchase.”

This implies that it is my fault that the dealership is unable or unwilling to repair the vehicle. Extremely absurd. Not to mention, I have paid for the vehicle in full so I am out approximately $85 000 for a vehicle that is unsafe to drive. Mercedes has clearly sold me a lemon yet continues to encourage me to risk my life with zero concern for my safety.

Please save yourself the headache (and possibly your life!) and do NOT buy a Mercedes. I am shocked at the level of indifference to safety displayed by such a prominent company.

Stay safe.

Mercedes Hate Their Customers

Despite a historical reputation for luxury & safety, sadly this diminishing business continues its litigious behavior with its once loyal customers. I am now one of many victims experiencing serious safety issues in the (new) GLC43 I purchased only 11months ago. Mercedes Benz Australia Pacific Pty Ltd maintains its blatant disregard for Australian Consumer Laws and Protections as they continue to ignore their obligation to provide safe, reliable and fit for basic use vehicles, even after undertakings made to the ACCC recently for conduct breaches.
Their dealer network has stated to 'push back on them hard because they will bully you and reject your warranty claims" Not bad for a $129,000 purchase.
I suppose I will join the queue of ex-consumers, but make my way through the civil courts first and foremost.

The worst non service I have ever…

The worst non service I have ever experienced. My car has been sitting in a neighboring country for over four weeks and despite multiple assurances to get the car repatriated, when push comes to shove there is another excuse to not execute the repatriation. Do not use this “service” as a first responder as it will void your resolve with a reputable roadside assistance service provider!

Mercedes endangers its clients by mot taking responsibility

Unlike other car manufacturers, Mercedes' standard factory warranty is only 2 years. That is what you accept when buying a Mercedes so OK. My GLE 450 is 4.5 years old and has always been serviced by the dealer, yet the engine cable beam has melted because it was not designed robustly enough to handle the electronic's demand.
It is surprising that a 'renowned brand' like Mercedes does not acknowledge a potential design flaw in the wiring, which, according to the garage, could have even caused a fire, and instead places the responsibility on the owner. In a discussion with Mercedes, the following reply from me was mailed:
Your response suggests that if a critical component, such as a wheel, were to break off a Mercedes that is less than five years old and has only driven 180,000 km, it would simply be considered 'unfortunate.'

This attitude raises serious concerns about the responsibility Mercedes takes for the quality and safety of its vehicles and their drivers, and it will certainly impact my decision regarding my next purchase.

What happens when you buy a car & registration is not transferred - They have your money & you have nothing

We received our car at the end of May and couldn’t have been happier. Three months in and the registration/car has still not been transferred into our name. They have received our money and I have now been driving a car for just over 3 months which I do not own even though I have paid for it. This is clearly a breach of contract. My concern is they have received payment and still have ownership of the vehicle.

I’m unhappy owner of Mercedes GLE 2019

I’m unhappy owner of Mercedes GLE 2019. After 60 thousand kilometers, I constantly go for service:
1) water in the gearbox;
2) the hard disk is broken;
3) the adblue tank failed...

The marketing is good, but the contribution to the loyalty of GLE owners is zero. The last straw: last week I replaced the hard drive at my own expense and Mercedes wants almost $200 to activate the navigation that was in the car.
❗️ Besides, all the problems are not new, Mercedes is well aware of them, but it does not have any recall programs.

Without Prejudice Buyers Beware

Without Prejudice. Buyers Beware:😢 Purchased vehicle interstate from Mercedes-Benz Bunbury. The vehicle delivered was not as described. The Dealer Principal did not even bother to answer my email requests for assistance. Mercedes -Benz Bunbury has denied any responsibility and refused to provide any remedy. Court case pending. Happy to discuss.

Update 13 July 2024: Mercedes-Benz Bunbury have threatened legal action if this unfavourable review left on google is not taken down. (see attached letter (photo))Buyer's Beware.

Update 15 July 2024: Ethical considerations. After giving me 7 days in writing to remove the review, only 3 days later Mercedes-Benz Bunbury have filed a counter claim with the courts for $10,000 for this unfavourable review. (See image)

Buyer's beware, if this is what they will do regarding a poor review imagine what they will do if you have a complaint regarding a purchased vehicle? Food for thought.
