MBNA AMAZON CREDIT CARD NIGHTMARE: UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES, INTEREST FEES, AND CREDIT HISTORY DAMAGE

If I could give ZERO STARS, I would.

STAY AWAY FROM MBNA AND THE AMAZON CREDIT CARD. My experience has been a complete nightmare from start to finish.

I applied for the Amazon credit card through MBNA, but the card was COMPROMISED TWICE WHILE IN TRANSIT before I ever received or activated it. Somehow, there were UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES placed on the card, and MBNA allowed those charges to go through to my statement even though I had never received the card.

Because I never had access to the card or the account, I ended up being charged INTEREST FOR “MISSED PAYMENTS” on charges I did not make. This should never have happened.

To make things worse, I had to spend WEEKS DEALING WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE trying to get this resolved.I eventually had to file a FORMAL COMPLAINT just to get proper attention on the issue.

I also had to contact EQUIFAX AND TRANSUNION to have the incorrect information removed from my credit history. That means MBNA’s handling of this situation did not just waste my time — it also affected my credit profile and forced me to clean up a problem I did not create.

In my opinion, this experience reflects SCAMMY, CARELESS, AND UNTRUSTWORTHY PRACTICES. Customers should be extremely cautious before applying for an MBNA card or the Amazon credit card.

No one should have to deal with this bs

just like every other credit company, you are only a number

after 30 years of no late payments, due to one issue on credit bureau they would not renew my card. No call just an automated letter, no chance to explain the situation. It is clear just like every other credit card they just want your money. Then they upped % due to only two "late" payments after they sent letter of refusal to renew.

I’d give this credit card company a 0…

I’d give this credit card company a 0 star if I could. We moved into our house 4 years ago and the past owners keep sending new mail to our home. They signed up for this credit card and despite me returning it to sender they keep sending new mail. I called them to ask them to reach out to the account owner and have them change their address and they said that they would not do it and IT WAS UP TO ME!… I already called them for an account which wasn’t mine and they won’t even reach out to one of their “valued” customers

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Discrimination against seniors who maybe aren't so quick with their responses to ridiculous questions. I am a senior who applied for a new credit card this winter . After several weeks no card had arrived. I called MBNA to reissue the card. I was transferred, hung up on, and given multiple different responses. After hanging up on me for the 4th time I then received a call from the fraud department! The woman was extremely rude to me. She demanded to speak to my daughter which was very insulting. She asked me all sorts of irrelevant questions such as where did I work, I have been retired for decades. Then she said nothing can be done. So there is a large limit credit card in ny name just out there somewhere and MBNA will not treat me with any respect and simply reissue me my card. Horrible service. Posting here in the hopes it will save other seniors the difficulty of dealing with such an ignorant customer service team and also in the hope MBNA will actually respond professionally to my very simple request.

My experience with MBNA has been…

My experience with MBNA has been extremely disappointing and concerning. They conducted a hard credit check on my file and required me to go through a lengthy identity verification process, including in-person verification at Canada Post. After completing all requested steps, I received confirmation that my credit card application had been approved. However, once I received the card, they refused to activate it and instead accused me of fraud — despite the fact that the card had never even been activated or used. This is completely unreasonable and unacceptable. This process is misleading, inconsistent, and a serious waste of time. It also raises concerns about their internal procedures and how they handle customers’ credit and personal information.
If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate my complaint to the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) and the appropriate Ombudsman.
I strongly advise others to be cautious before applying

MBNA SUCKS

Hello,

I’d like to share my experience with MBNA.

I recently received my MBNA credit card, registered for online access, and successfully activated it. However, when I attempted to make my first online purchase, the card was immediately blocked.

Since then, I’ve made several attempts to resolve the issue by contacting customer support. Each time, I’ve been placed on hold for extended periods (up to two hours), only to have the call disconnected without any follow-up. I also tried using the in-app chat, but I was simply directed to call additional phone numbers.

At this point, I’ve been unable to get any assistance in unblocking my card, which has made it effectively unusable. I would greatly appreciate any help in resolving this matter as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Worst Customer service ever in Canada. Always wait time more than half an hour and everyone you have to manually work like balance transfers or pre authorization you will never done in online app. Always have to call to customer care and customer care is worst not trying to help customers.

I was given a Amazon card with 2k credit limit. I used it and they immediately locked the card. I have been trying for 2 days to talk to someone. I did get my initial purchases and if they want their money then answer the phone so I can register the card to make a payment! I tried online and I couldn't get past the reading the contract part... All I can say is that I don't want the dam card now as the customer service sucks because it's nonexistent!

I gave them a rating of 1 star but it…

I gave them a rating of 1 star but it should be 0 There customer service representatives don't listen to questions and there questions to existing clients make no sense at all. I tried to change my pin on my Gold card with them and i talked to 3 representaives in customer service and i have no idea where they hired these people. I wa son hold more than 30 minutes at a time and i was told someone would call me , never did. Please stay away from these amateurs and this Bank TD should do something with them, i use Royal Bank, Bank of Montreal and Laurentian Bank what a difference. There should be a shake up at MBNA very unplesant people working there. Be aware there rating on line is one star i would give them a big big big ZERO

Customer Service sales representative

I’m extremely frustrated with the customer service I received from MBNA.
The representatives I spoke with didn’t seem to fully understand the problem, and I often received inconsistent answers. This made the situation even more frustrating because I had to repeat the same explanation multiple times without seeing any real progress. Good customer service should make customers feel heard and supported, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case here.

On top of that, the response time was slow and the overall communication lacked clarity and professionalism. As a customer, I expected better assistance and a more efficient resolution process.

I hope MBNA takes feedback like this seriously and works on improving their customer support, training, and communication so that other customers don’t have to go through the same frustrating experience.

Called to cancel the card months prior

Called to cancel the card months prior.
Received a text that I had an outstanding balance. What the hell?

I call them to know what was up.

Read to laugh? Just because they cancel the card, it is still my responsibility to contact/cancel all recurring payments.

You'd think a cancelled card = charge won't go through, right?

NOPE!

Bunch of incompetent idiots. Go elsewhere.

Terrible customer service

After receiving a charge from Amazon Canada, which I did not think was made by me, I phoned MBNA credit card customer service and they put my account on hold. They said a fraud Department agent would call me in the next day or two. Not only has that not happened, I have tried several days in a row and waited 30 minutes or more, so I could reinstate my card, because the charges were legit. I can't use this card and can't get a hold of anyone at customer service. Not sure what to do next but it has been extremely frustrating and a bit scary having a credit card with a company like this

Outdated

Their platform and features are very outdated. Using them for taxes is a pain. Their payment options are very limited. The feeling that they expect you to miss payments certainly resonates with me. In 3 years, I've only missed once because I totally forgot and they don't send you notifications nor allow you to set up aotupay. Otherwise, I pay on time and in full. Yet, sometimes I see mysterious interest charges from $0.01 to $50, which I don't bother to fight.

Identity theft concern

Quite literally the worst customer service. Crazy long wait times. Hang ups (no call backs) and poor resolution with promise of call backs (and none) was asked some extremely suspicious personal information when finally getting through. I believe MBNA is an identity theft concern.

Nightmare experience

Nightmare experience. Do not recommend ever. I was scammed out of $5000 and contacted MBNA immediately. My card information was stolen and although MBNA claims the customer is not liable on fraud they are trying to leave me on the hook for the fraudulent charges. 4 identical charges were made to a computer company in Ontario, one to a gas station in Quebec and the others were placed in Arizona. All within 24 hours and reported the day of. The fraud investigators will not give me an explanation as to why they are leaving me responsible for these charge and continue to forward me from department to department without resolve. Avoid this company at all cost.
