Mihai was tasked with the job. In truth, he rescued the day with his efficient and fast service… trying first sensible options, which would not necessitate the drilling out and replacement of the barrel lock. Only when he exhausted simple expedients did he replace the lock. This was done quickly and professionally.

Fixed the fault mechanism on the spot which was a major relief as door couldn’t lock from the inside. I would highly recommend.

Mihai was terrific today. Replaced front door locks and had to change them- twice!! Charming, polite and nothing was too much trouble.

Our back door would not open. I called this number and was assigned a locksmith who arrived within an hour and fixed the door in half an hour. Mihai was courteous and friendly. I agree with the costs of other reviewers 59 for call-out, 100 for labour plus 100 for the lock all plus VAT. This is not cheap. However to put this into context you are getting a fast response, expertise and a part that is there with the locksmith. The locksmith also had to travel to get to me. So I do not feel this was particularly overpriced.

A quote of £59 plus the cost of a new lock was given on the telephone, in fairness it was very prompt service as the locksmith arrived 40mins after call out, however, it was not explained on initial phone call that as well as the call out fee there would be a labour fee (charged £99 for 15 mins work) the lock charge was £40 ( usually £20 in diy store) and VAT, overall cost was £220! And this included a discount. The locksmith was very pleasant but feel this company is very misleading on cost.

Industrial shop door secured with new locks,very experienced guy ,very helpful and friendly . Price was quite expensive though , I think it not necessary for call out fee,I think labour charge is enough to pay etc , other than this ,the workmanship great,thankyou.

After calling LockSub the job was given to Sandrino, he arrived within the hour, was polite and quick to find a solution. Drilled out the lock, released the magnet catch, and installed a new lock with 5 spare keys. Would recommend 100% and a fair price for the work carried out.

I wrote the following email to the company two weeks ago and have not received any reply, following unprofessional behaviour by one of their contractors, who proceeded to rip off my wife during a stressful day while completing a house purchase.

He charged GBP 334.80 (incl. VAT) to change a standard lock, comprising GBP 59 call out, GBP 105 labour (for 20 minutes) and GBP 115 for a lock that is available for GBP 15 on Amazon.

The Master Locksmith Association estimates this work at GBP 120 + VAT.

I have reported this the to the UK Trading Standards.

"I am contacting you about what can only be called the exorbitant fleecing of my wife by one of your sub-contractors - Nicolae Radalescu - on Friday 24 September, 2021.

We completed the purchase of a new house, 2 hours from where we live, so in an unfamiliar location. In addition to a locked door with no key (not a lock out, but a standard lock change) there were a number of issues that my wife had to deal with at the same time, which apparently created the perfect distractions for her to be completely be taken advantage of.

You will see the receipt below, for a replacement lock.

1. He said he'd call in 5 mins from initial contact, she called him 40 mins later. He said he'd be there at 3pm and showed up at 5.20pm after my wife chased his whereabouts. This was exactly when my wife said she had an important call to take.
2. When he did arrive, the contractor took a lot of time to read the situation - the fact my wife is American, commenting on our "expensive car and TV..."
3. The lock change took 20 minutes. That would make an hourly rate of GBP 315, in addition to the call out fee. Would you consider this to be a market rate?
4. The lock that he installed costs GBP 15 on Amazon. That's about an 800% markup. Would you consider this to be a market rate?

This is what your T&Cs provide below. Nicolae went way above and beyond, completely took advantage of some difficult circumstances.

From LockSub T&Cs: "PROVIDING SERVICES You warrant that you will provide the Services with reasonable skill and care. The price for the Services is to be agreed with the Subcontractor and/or the end customer. You must charge a reasonable price for the Services provided. We recommend maximum charges as follows: • £199 + VAT for any standard lock change; • £299 + VAT for any lock out; or • £399 + VAT for any standard gearbox and mechanism change."

I will give you the opportunity to remedy the above, prior to otherwise taking whatever recourse I will and can take, to ensure that this matter is publicised and dealt with.

It's people like Nicolae who frankly give the profession a bad name, and reflect extremely poorly on Locksub.

Back door unable to lock , locksmith arrived within the hour, very polite, explained what was wrong and what should have been happening with the mechanism. Fixed it, no fuss. Bit expensive, but worth it for the peace of mind ! Would recommend no problem!!

After a recent break in, we needed an emergency locksmith at short notice and Locksub was the first choice on Google and naturally we clicked the link. The engineer arrived quickly and insisted that he had fit 3 high security locks at a cost of £85 each - which wasn’t the case at all. We had an odd feeling at the time so booked another company who showed us that he had actually fit £8 screwfix locks which had very little security against potential further break in’s. A total cost of £526.80 with this company who fail to reply to calls or emails to explain - we have subsequently had another three locks fitted at additional cost. Avoid this company at all costs. And if you do decide to risk it, don’t be forced into paying cash like we foolishly did and pay with a credit card so you can attempt a claw back. Customer service at its worst - taking advantage of desperate people In desperate situations. In typical fashion I expect this review will receive the typical passive response so please check your emails and phones and respond accordingly if you wish to address this. Reported to Trading Standards.
