Secure, simple, safe

Using the Ledger Nano X to secure my crypto assets in cold storage where it's totally safe provides a huge level of security. It was all very easy to set up, move my crypto to, and then lock away so only I can touch it.

Spoke with Emily in customer service…

Spoke with Emily in customer service and was so professional, knowledgeable, friendly, personable, and genuine in her interaction and education on the question I had about ledger and their security. Despite the FUD they’re a winner IMO. Replaced devices that have been faulty in the past at no cost, troubling shooting everything, I will say sometimes I’ve had problems take months to resolve but that’s kinda par for the course in this space regardless of the vendor.

Ledger STAX is a great device

Ledger STAX is a great device, easy to navigate, seems to be the most secure.
The CRYPTOTAG is amazing. Very well built and very well designed for a long term use of the blockchain technology to help users get the best piece of mind to keep your seed phrase safe and secure from hackers and malware attacks and weather events that could destroy the seed phrase that is so important to the security of your crypto assets and your personal data that you can trust.

Cold Storage Confidence

This is our second Nano X Ledger and the support information and guides on Ledger are brilliant. What could have been highly stressful was a straightforward recovery process. Reassuring and clear instructions guided us through setting up new wallets due to failed, aged (6 year old) wallets. Read all the information on how to care for your phrase and wallet and our experience is easily avoided.

An unreliable device with poor customer service.

I have had my Nano S for 4 years. Initially it was ok although the screen is very small and it’s just fairly fiddly to use. Still it worked, however after 4 yrs but only a handful of uses it is now failing. The screen has faded first to virtually invisible with only part of the digit visible and now today it’s faded to invisible.
The response from ledger was as others have said, buy a new one because it’s too old.
Frankly that’s pathetic. Anyone buying one should bear in mind that it’s a device with a life span of four years or so.
They have also said in responses below that it’s not a vital part of security it’s just a signing device. Well I’m sorry but actually it’s 50% of my safe coin storage. If this fails I have the words, if I lose the words, say in a fire, then I have the ledger. Not any more.
I’m sorry but that’s not good enough, clearly I need another device but Ledger have proven themselves untrustworthy.
Two weeks later see ledgers response. So I have contacted them again and got the same result which is that if it's outside the one year warranty buy a new one. Thank you ledger for confirming what I said, your device is good for one year only. I strongly advise people to avoid ledger devices if you reliability in storing your crypto.

Ledger is the best choice to manage crypto on cold storage. Hardware wallets are intuitive and integrate well with the ledger live and third party self custodial wallets.

Atrocious product and worse service

Bought a Ledger Nano S in 2017 that I've used a total of maybe 5 times. Since I'm looking at the invenstment as a long term, I could just check it on the app on my phone. I never needed to use the actual Nano since I don't trade. However, since I changed phones I needed to resyncronize it and found out that it's dead. Tried different cables and charges but no luck which is the first problem.

The whole point of a hardware wallet is that you should be able to leave it for long periods of time without it spoiling. I have old harddrives that still work even though they're considerably older than the Nano and have seen much more use.

I contacted support and their response was to offer a 20 percent discount for a new one. I get that the warranty has expired but 20 percent? That won't even cover shipping let alone import tax. At this rate I'd spend more on Ledgers than I'd get out of the actual investment. To top it off, the customer service agent logged off when I asked about transferring the content to a competitor's product.

Your funds remain secure as long as you still have your 24‑word recovery phrase. The hardware wallet itself is only a signing device; the recovery phrase is the true backup of your assets.

If the device screen remains black after connecting, this likely indicates the hardware has reached the end of its lifespan. You can find more information about the expected lifespan of Ledger devices here: https://support.ledger.com/article/The-Expected-Lifespan-of-Ledger-Devices

In the event your device is no longer functional, there is no need to “transfer” anything directly from it. You can simply restore your 24‑word recovery phrase on a new hardware wallet, whether it’s a Ledger or another BIP39-compatible device—to regain full access to your accounts.

If you decide to switch to another brand, please ensure that you only enter your recovery phrase on a hardware wallet and never on a computer or smartphone, to maintain maximum security.

My first Ledger experience

I got my Ledger Nano S Plus once I decided to start my retirement (long-term, 15-20 years) investment.

I asked AI about the most secure cold wallet with which I can stake my ETH and SOL, and Ledger popped up.

Only one month using it and I can say the buy process was easy, the delivery was fast, and the set up, use and management of the device is very intuitive and user-friendly.

Ledger Nano S Plus can't complete setup on android

I Purchased Ledger Nano S Plus because it's supposed to be android compatable. While setting up device a OS update is available and necessary. Ledger has a problem with Android update and instructed me to use pc to update which I dont have. I contacted support personnel and asked for a updated device to be sent to me. Only options available were update on pc or refund. Ledger doesn't seem to be cooperative to me. If Ledger Nano S Plus can't be setup on Android and needs pc to operate it is not Andoid compatable. This is false advertising. Im attempting to work with Ledger for a reasonable solution but evidently one does not exist.
I already changed android display settings to smallest possible still didn't work. I purchased device to work completely with android. Only pc I have is older laptop 32 bit. Ledger only supports 64. Borrowing someone else's computer is out of the question. In my case Ledger is NOT android compatable, I cant setup and use device with my Samsung tablet or Samsung phone. I contacted Ledger support and asked for device with OS already updated but was denied.

You’re right that Nano S Plus is Android-compatible. There’s a temporary Android display issue affecting some users during the OS update screen in Ledger Live mobile, which can block the Continue/Install button.

Two workarounds (without a PC) usually resolve it:
- On your Android phone, reduce Font size and/or Display size (Settings > Display). Reopen Ledger Live and retry the update screen so the Continue button appears.

- If available, try a different Android device with a USB cable.

Important notes:
- This issue is only with the update screen sizing; once updated, you can use your Nano S Plus fully on Android.
- Keep your 24-word recovery phrase handy before any update.
