Teaching was fairly good, every teacher you get is or has been a lawyer which is always a plus! Unfortunately the admin at this university is absolutely awful: any issues I have get ignored if I try to email them, (or get responded to weeks/ up to a month later). When I call about an issue it’s the same thing, I get transferred about 5/6 times to different departments with no resolution & when I do manage to speak to someone they then tell me to email. It’s really quite disappointing & unfortunately if you have any issues you want to raise it does take quite a while for anyone to get back to you.

I had really great lecturers who were instrumental in ensuring I didn’t disgrace myself. My supervisor gave clear guidance around my dissertation, and the overall teaching experience was good.

Sadly, I was less enamoured of the admin. The student handbook had some provisions that I had not encountered at other institutions. If you want a glitzy certificate, ULAW may not be the place for you. There’s no university crest, and the colours seem rather plain. I would also have liked to have been handed a scroll (or a scroll case) during graduation.

I attended the (now defunct) Guildford Campus for my LLB (Hons) from 2022 to 2025. The teaching was good, delivered to us in small groups, the timetable was convenient, and my experience was generally positive.

There were just two drawbacks, really - there was very little social life (literally no societies), and the university decided to sell the Guildford campus partway through my degree, meaning the final year was done on the premises of a local college. I really can’t express how disappointing that was - they offered the opportunity to switch to another of their campuses elsewhere, but I was already stuck in a rental contract and settled in elsewhere, so I didn’t have much choice.

I am now doing my postgraduate studies with the University of Law, because I felt that my experience was sufficiently positive the first time around. I’m focusing this review on my undergraduate degree as that’s what I’ve been asked to do… and the university should really be grateful for that.

I like the university and studies and the support. But I'm not satisfied with student finance team because Im asking them for 500pounds refund for the early bird discount and they wanted to send it to forex and I wanted the amount in my UK bank account. When I ask them about this there is no update.

They cancelled my course one month before it was due to start. I had already arranged accommodation, booked flights, and paid for everything, so I couldn’t get any compensation for all these expenses—not to mention the money I spent applying for the master’s program, including document translations and language exams.
A total failure.

The environment is good , helpful mentors, serious about assignments.

If there is a choice to deselect this one star I will definitely remove it.

One of the worst university in terms of SQE 1 preparation. Expensive course and shit service is their quality. Does not try to understand the perspective and difficulties faced by students. Just opened the univesity to make money from students. Please do not use them for SQE instead find cheaper options suitable to your needs. Their face to face classes are joke just waste your time to show that they provide quality education. In additoin, they give their sqe portal access for 3 attempts/ for 1.5 years which means that you have to take sqe 1 attempts back to back. They do not care if someone has funds to take second attempt or not. However, if you take LLM SQE so then you have 5 years access to their Elite app/sqe app. Simply pushing and undue promotion of LLM to students. Would never recommend University of Law to anyone.

I thought, I will get a global exposer but it seems like a Asia exposer that I am receiving. When it comes to classroom, everyone sets with their local people and talk with their own language. If I try to talk in English , they just ignore me. In some courses, university should focus on more such as Data analytics for Business, this course cannot be completed with 9 classes. I got only one class for machine learning. If university cannot give us time then they should give us the access to some online course in online platforms, namely, udemy and coursera.

I had a very disappointing experience with the admissions and finance process at this university.
After my case was cancelled, it has been over 50 days and my refund was not processed. Despite submitting all required documents promptly, the process has been unnecessarily delayed due to repeated and piecemeal requests for additional documents. Each time, I was asked to wait another week, which caused significant inconvenience.

What is more concerning is the lack of transparency. Important information regarding visa challenges for Pakistani students was not communicated at the beginning of the process, which led to avoidable complications and financial stress (A handsome amount of money deducted due to high taxes).
The overall handling of my case has been inefficient and unprofessional. Delays in refunding funds are not just administrative issues—they directly impact students’ academic plans and financial stability.

The application process was very quick and clear, and every time I had a question, even from my home country, the staff always helped and guided me throughout the whole process. Since arriving, I have found the staff and lecturers to be very helpful and supportive, with all lecturers giving their best effort to ensure students are well supported in their studies. The university is located in Manchester city centre, which is very convenient and easily accessible by all types of public transport.

To be honest, my experience so far with The University of Law has not been very satisfying. As an international student coming abroad, I had certain expectations, especially around diversity and cultural exchange. I was really looking forward to meeting people from different countries and backgrounds. However, in reality, most of my class is made up of students from one or two countries, mostly from one single nation. While there is nothing wrong with that, they tend to stay within their own groups and don’t interact much with others. Ironically, I feel like my Hindi has improved more than my English since coming here.

When it comes to the courses, the experience has been quite challenging in a negative way. It often feels like we are thrown into the middle of the ocean and expected to swim to shore on our own, without proper guidance or direction. Coming from a business background, being expected to learn coding mostly through YouTube or third-party resources is disappointing. This is not what international students pay such high tuition fees for. The PEC model they follow does not feel effective; it lacks hands-on learning, clarity, and proper instructional support.

The assignments are another major concern, which is the most important part of our education journey. We are expected to produce highly detailed, in-depth, and well-presented work, all within a strict 2,500-word limit. Trying to fit complex analysis, data, and presentation into such a limited word count feels unrealistic. It often feels like trying to compress everything into a very small space while still maintaining professionalism and quality, which is extremely difficult.

In terms of campus life, while the facilities are decent for a city like London, the overall student experience feels lacking. Classes are organised, and the reception is helpful, but there are very limited seating areas and almost no social or recreational spaces. There are no cultural programs, interactive forums, or student activities. It feels like we just come to class and then leave; there’s no sense of community or opportunity to create memories. If someone asked me about my campus life after graduation, I honestly feel like I would have very little to share.

Another issue I’ve noticed is poor maintenance, particularly in the toilets. The flush systems often don’t work properly, water gets clogged, and hygiene is not maintained well. Most concerning is that for the past three months, there have been no tissues available in any of the toilets, both male and female. This is quite disappointing and reflects a lack of basic facility management.

Studying is, of course, important, but it’s not the only reason students choose to study abroad. We come here to grow as individuals, build networks, experience new cultures, and explore new opportunities. Unfortunately, my experience so far has not lived up to those expectations.

Overall, I believe the university needs significant improvements across multiple areas to meet the standards expected by international students.

My experience with the University of Law has been extremely disappointing and frustrating from start to finish. I completed all required interviews and even paid the full tuition fees, trusting that everything was in order. However, at the very last moment, they refused to issue my CAS letter without giving any clear or reasonable explanation.

What followed was even worse. I applied for a refund, and it took them four long months to return my money. During that time, I had to send emails almost every single day and even escalate the matter by filing complaints with higher authorities. Only after constant pressure did they finally process my refund.

On top of that, due to exchange rate fluctuations, I ended up losing around ₹30,000 INR from the original amount I had paid. This financial loss, combined with the stress and uncertainty they caused, made the entire experience unacceptable.

The staff seemed unhelpful, unresponsive, and poorly informed. It often felt like they didn’t know how to handle student cases properly, which only added to the frustration.

In contrast, after applying to another university, I received my CAS letter promptly after the interview and even got my visa approved within just two days — which clearly shows how inefficient and disorganized this university is.

Overall, this institution wasted my time, money, and energy. I strongly do not recommend applying here. If you value professionalism, transparency, and timely communication, you should seriously consider other options.

Unreliable admissions process-beware
I cannot recommend this university based on my recent experience. I held an unconditional offer and had already paid initial deposit of 8000GBP, yet my offer was withdrawn without any justification.
The stress and wasted effort involved in this process have been immense. If you are looking for a stable and professional admissions process, look elsewhere. A university should honor its commitments once an unconditional offer is made and paid for.

I am happy with the course online and the lecturers are doing outstanding well. There is so much resources available making it easy for me especially in relation to research.
