Helpful support and large selection of replacement parts

I sent photos of key socket, hinges, and key cap as well as laptop model name. Their support emailed me the link to the item I should order from their website. The key cap arrived with hinges attached. The minor disadvantage is that you have to carefully remove the hinges. But the big advantage is that it tells you which way is up and front for each of the two hinges.

Replacement W key on my ThinkPad W530

I have a ThinkPad W530 as my daily driver, still, and recently I broke the W key. I looked online for a replacement keyboard and there are lots available from China but I didn't want to order one only find it's not backlit as this is such a useful feature to me. I bought a used but damaged keyboard thinking I could just swap the W key...that's when I realised there are different versions of the underlying W530 keyboard. I searched n found laptopkeys.com. After using my phone camera magnification, I was able to select the correct replacement from the laptopkeys website, which has helpful pictures and videos. I ordered an extra key, being in Australia the postage would otherwise be more than the key and I thought just in case in the future. The order process was straightforward, as was payment. The key arrived about 2 weeks later. The white plastic mechanism was already installed under the key cap and it took me a while to separate it in order to be able to install it in my keyboard before pressing on the key cap. Now I tried to install it with out removal of the key cap but had no luck. I looked for videos but only found doing it the way I described. I was nervous I'd break the plastic clips on the mechanism but eventually I got it separated and installed. A video for that would have been helpful or perhaps on on how to install with the key cap on but I worked it out. I could have emailed the laptopkeys team I suppose as in hindsight, they seem really genuine and interested to help people maintain their systems keyboards, so my bad. I didn't need to replace the tiny rubber cap that gives the key it's return but it was provided in the packaging. The packaging of these tiny parts was all done well and survived the long journey to Geelong. I would happily buy from them again and feel confident to recommend them to people.

Fixed my keyboard

Yesterday the envelope arrived and the key clicked easily into the keyboard. I am very happy that laptopkeys.com offers this service of ordering replacement keys ! My other alternatives were replacing the whole keyboard with a replacement from a local Danish shop or trying to glue the old key on again, both are worse solutions.
