Flights extremely overbooked
Flights extremely overbooked, need to beg for a seat for the flight you paid for, staff appear to be used to this
Been waiting over a year for a refund
Been waiting over a year for a refund. Passed from pillar to post absolutely no intention of refunding the money. I have sent the requested information in excess of ten times this being a passport and authority to claim a refund. Will not use these again. If you choose to use them cross your fingers that there are no problems as you will not get your refund.
Poor customer service
Cancelled our flights from Athens to Amsterdam the night before travel due to technical issues. No offers of assistance to rebook and couldn't get through to anyone to help. Cruise line staff booked an alternative through Paris with Air France and this went completely wrong as well. Although we booked extra legroom seats I have not been refunded. Customer service is appalling. I will never fly with KLM again.
Poor
I'm in the position where I can make a direct comparison in flight experiecne between KLM and Virgin Atlantic as I flew from LHR>LAX (Virgin) and then from SFO>LHR (KLM) on the same holiday.
Bascially, Virgin are FAR superior in terms of overall service and flight experince, along with the quality of the plane (far newer aircraft)
KLM in flight service was really poor with the attendants calling round very infrequently on a 9.5 hour flight. The overall choice of snacks/drinks/alcohol compared to Virgin was a non-contest. At the back of the plane, where snacks and drinks can usually be picked up on a long haul flight, there were 3 small cans of already OPENED coke to use. Really poor. There was a smidging of very unappealing snacks for the whole economy section.
My son really wanted a coke on the flught and when I asked the attendant if he coukd have one, she said I only have water. Fair enough, but if this was a Virgin flught, the attendant would have ensured a coke was provided. This in summary, is the type of service you could epxect from KLM.
The whole "Royal KLM" is one massive publicity stunt. It's more like "On a budgett with LIDL KLM".
I won't fly with them again.
7.5 hours delay going from Bristol to Berlin. Patronising responses when I complained
Was delayed by 7.5 hours flying from Bristol to Berlin, due to multiple problems, all of which were KLM's fault. I raised this with KLM, who offered the statutory minimum compensation associated with a 2 hour day, and refused to refund me the cost of the reserved seats that I had paid for, which they were unable to honour. There then followed patronising responses when I suggested that this was insufficient. Never again...

UK to Tokyo
Travelled return from UK to Tokyo via Amsterdam. On time, great service great staff. It is a long flight, but both flight crews were chilled and helpful it made the trip much easier. We've previously travelled with a mid East operator, and found KLM to be better.

Klm by far the worst airline I've flown with, baggage never arrives, airplane is always ice cold and air hostess somewhat cold and never smiles, this is the 2nd time im flying with klm and mu luggage never comes with my flight, this time around im waiting 2 days, klm should really learn something from Emirates
KLM Sucks
I had a very disappointing experience with KLM. I paid for my flight and received a booking confirmation, so I naturally assumed my reservation was complete. At no point did I expect that I needed to contact the airline because I hadn't received a separate ticket.
Later, I was told my booking had been canceled because I hadn't contacted KLM in time about not receiving the ticket. As a customer, that makes very little sense. If payment has been accepted and a booking confirmation has been issued, the expectation is that the airline will either issue the ticket or clearly notify the customer if there is a problem that requires action.
As a result of this cancellation, I had to purchase a replacement ticket at roughly twice the original price. The communication was inadequate, and the outcome was extremely frustrating and expensive. I expected much better from a major international airline.

KLM splits up families with infant
KLM has split up a family who booked together - including a breastfed infant (4 months old) from their mother in upcoming 26hour flight on the 24th of June.
I cannot believe I am writing this. For our upcoming flight with KLM, from Amsterdam to Australia, my partner is seated with my 4 month old infant, while I, her mother, the only one who can breastfeed her, am seated 14 rows further back.
I have spent ~7 hours on the phone with KLM, a total of 7 phone calls. I am told that our seats cannot be changed as the booking is a code share (with Malaysian airlines). Yet they have somehow, at some point, been allocated, so it is difficult to understand why there is no possibility to reallocate. Told repeatedly that we will be able to choose seats during online check-in. However, as we discovered on our flight here, we are only able to check in at the gate, not online, presumably also due to the code share.
Malaysian airlines (who we code share with) cannot change seats on a KLM flight. Malaysian airlines has seated our family together, with a bassinet. Having previously booked with Qatar, they also automatically give seats altogether as a family, and with a bassinet.
Only KLM seems to not only not give a bassinet, but to split up families who have booked together. We would accept a seat without bassinet if only we can be sat together as a family. The fact that this isn’t automatic is already shocking, but to not be able to fix this and put a family, including breastfed infant, together, is hard to believe. Are KLM deliberately trying to prevent families from flying with them? Or are they really this dysfunctional?
Furthermore, on the flight here, we called KLM five times in an attempt to get a seat with bassinet. We were told three of those times that operators would call us back. We were never called back by any of them. At least on that flight we were sat together as a family, though we were not given a bassinet for our infant.
Disgraceful Airline
Cancelled flight, lost baggage, APPALLING customer service and the best stalling tactics I've ever seen to avoid paying compensation. No way to contact them for help when needed. Never used such a poor airline. I will never fly with them again.
Flight back from Venice to Newcastle…
Flight back from Venice to Newcastle via schipol 8/1. Arrived at Marco Polo - checked bags in, got through security. Sat in departures to receive a text message to say we have been moved onto a flight 4 days later.
Managed to get one for day later with BA. Back to Venice for a night at our expense. When trying to claim compensation they are saying due to adverse weather - but the flight left, we were just bumped off. And to this day we have no explanation .
It’s scary that in this day and age a company so big can break the law.
I will never fly with them again. Shocking.
Customer service is terrible
Customer service is terrible . Takes ages to get an actual person to talk to and then sadly their English is poor and v hard to deal with . Spent an hour trying to change flight dates and they just said at end need to send to back room and can’t help . AWFUL
Customers are cattle to KLM
Case recently damaged on a flight from Capetown to Manchester via Amsterdam.
Have attempted to log a complaint/ claim 17 times in the last 4 days !!! Complaints site continually out of action, or just endlessly scrolls with no claim being able to be submitted. Clearly a deliberate policy of KLM to prevent you submitting a claim, until the deadline has passed.
. Most cases on the baggage collection looked to be in a similar state. Book with other airline if you can. Obviously customers are cattle to KLM !
Watch out for KLM Netherlands
Watch out for KLM Netherlands . This company is the worst airliner ever. They are delaying baggage, and once you claim the report for missing things they never resolve. They route you to AirAdvisor that is looping permanently with required documents which they never receive although the only way is to upload on their webiste. Upload of course does not work
Avoid KLM at all costs!
Although the actual flying experience with KLM was good and the service in the KLM lounge in Amsterdam was excellent, my overall experience has left me feeling exhausted, frustrated and deeply disappointed.
For weeks now, I have been going back and forth with KLM regarding compensation for a cancelled flight. Under EU Regulation 261/2004, airlines are required to provide compensation when a flight is cancelled without sufficient notice. Despite this, KLM has repeatedly refused my claim, incorrectly stating that I was given between 7 and 14 days’ notice of the cancellation.
This is simply not true. I was at the airport and moments away from boarding when the flight was cancelled. To be told otherwise is both inaccurate and dismissive of what actually happened.
While the onboard experience and lounge service were positive, the way this situation has been handled has completely undermined any goodwill. Based on this experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering flying with KLM to reconsider.
AMS-HKG
Had an excellent flight from Amsterdam to Hong Kong on 20 March 2026. Thank you to the crew for your handwritten note wishing us a fantastic adventure to Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore. It was lovely to receive. Your polite professionalism and pleasantries made a long flight pass quickly. We have return home to Scotland, having seen and been to so many wonderful places. We would have no hesitation in booking KLM if we can on our next journey.
Avoid this airline
Avoid this airline! Shameful customer care and refusal to pay for the delayed baggage expenses!
KLM refusing payout on lost bag
KLM refusing payout on lost bag
In January, travelled from Mauritius to Paris then to Amsterdam
On arrival in Amsterdam, late arrival around 10pm, spent 2hrs looking for bags in carousels, all of them and they are many, no bags arrived, also the section to report bags lost was closed due to late at night.
I'm here for work, due to board a vessel for 4 weeks, 2 bags, one personal stuff, other work PPE gear.
My only option at time was to contact travel agent arranging flights and ask them to trace bags, I had no location tags. I do now though.
Also had no local sim card and limited data use on vessel.
I arrived on vessel with only clothes I was wearing, borrowed essentials from work mates a few t shirts underpants socks, so had probably 2 days supply of clothes my entire trip, fortunately the laundry is super efficient so did my trip with that, managed to scrape old PPE also from team mates, boot size 2 sizes too big but made it work.
2 weeks later they found 1 bag, another vessel brought it to field, it was collected inside was my PPE
I questioned the 2nd bag, that was found also, this was dealing with travel agent, again email only as I'm offshore with zero phone signal and only metered wifi access.
The 2nd bag was found, they were given a delivery address to port to deliver, same address for both bags.
The last recorded note on KLM system is
"Bag recorded as undeliverable by taxi driver"
After that no records at all
I've tried the klm WhatsApp thing all recorded on my phone, tried claiming for my bag, and even escalated my complaint to klm via email, there response is

I was on a flight to Bonaire and the socket was damaged and couldn't charge my laptop. Spoke to a crew member and she advised I charge it somewhere near the kitchen. On my return I was sitting next to someone who was occupying part of my own space due to his circumstances. I sent a complaint to KLM but probably they are utilising non human systems that literally tells you sorry to hear that. Next time better luck and goodbye
