Flew for the first time with KLM from…
Flew for the first time with KLM from Singapore to Bali August 3rd. As it was a short flight i expected a smaller plane but it was a large airbus. I was pleasantly surprised at the legroom in economy class & the seats were comfy. Even the toilets were spacious. The food was nice too & the cabin crew. Flew with another airline back to the UK but would have been happy to have flown with KLM again.
2nd time my flight has been cancelled in a few months - no way of actually receiving some compensation.
I frequently fly from Birmingham to Amsterdam, but this year I have had my flight cancelled last minute twice. First time round it was through to a staff member being ill, second time round, no explanation, just cancelled. I missed a funeral and a family celebration. I did get my tickets refunded, but no compensation whatsoever according to EU rules. KLM makes it extremely difficult to get you access to the compensation you're entitled too. No customer service what so ever. Considering cancelling my KLM flying pass, and moving to EasyJet for flights to Amsterdam.
Wish I could give no stars
Wish I could give no stars, this airline is a scam. I purchased a ticket and was not able to fly, but they gave me a voucher to use. When I tried to redeem that voucher, they said the ticket was non-transferable and I lost over a thousand dollars. They provided the worst customer service I have ever received in my life, they did not offer anything to compensate for my loss, and just kept repeating the same thing over and over. They also said they had no ability to transfer the call to a manger (!?). Literally the worst experience with an airline I have ever had in my years of traveling. Do not waste money or time, I would gladly pay more money towards an airline that is understanding of their customers experience. Travelling is stressful, and this airline makes that 10x so. DO NOT USE.
Can we give minus figures
Can we give minus figures? "Customer service" blatantly LIE to you and ignore your replies to their delayed correspondence. Unable to handle matters correctly, they hide behind the anonymity of being able to ignore emails.
I wonder if they ignored the government when they got their billions of Euro bailout? I would have let them rot.
Dreadful business practices, late flights, lies, unhelpful staff
Bought a DIRECT flight. When tickets received it showed a stop over. To highlight how ANNOYING this was, we flew KLM London to Kilimanjaro. We then flew 1 hour 15 mins to Zanzibar, about 20 mins south of Dar Es Salaam. The secret stopover turned out to be in Dar. So we would need to fly Zanzibar, 1 hour 15 north to Kilimanjaro then fly 1 hour south back to Dar, wait 1 hour on the runway then fly 1 hour north again past Kilimanjaro.
So the sneaky stopover cost us 3 hours of direct flight time plus transfer times/waits etc.
But here's where KLM suck. When we tried to get them to let us on at Dar they refused unless we paid them an extra £5000. Despite already having a ticket on the EXACT plane we wanted to get on. NO WAY without paying. We were lied to too. First they said we weren't on that plane, (their own tickets confirmed we were) then when we asked why the direct flight was going to stop in Dar they said it had to go there to refuel - an obvious lie since you dont fly 1 hour south then 1 hour north to refuel when you can fill up at starting point. So no, they don't care - just give us your money.
Nor do they care to let you know why they are running late like a normal airline. Sat on the tarmac for 45 minutes with not a word from the captain about a delay or a reason. So they don't have time for common courtesies.
On one flight i had the drinks cart right next to me with two people, one serving drinks who kept having to disappear to get more drinks. This left one doing nothing, just standing there. So i asked her if i could have some water (from the large bottle 50cm away from my head and right in front of her). "She will serve you" was her response, waiving vaguely at the disappearing woman. Clearly her role was strictly just to stand there and not be at all helpful.
I will NEVER fly with KLM/Air France again - never never never. Once they have your money you are just a number. And when you book your ticket you can't trust they will honour the direct part.

Had an absolutely awful experience with…
Had an absolutely awful experience with KLM. Flew direct from Naples to Amsterdam and they lost my bags. Not a huge deal but they repeatedly told me each day they would arrive and they never did, leaving my stay in Amsterdam without any luggage, or understanding what to do about it. This was a part of longer multi continent journey and now I'm continuing past Amsterdam, still with no luggage. Customer service was lacking, and nearly impossible to contact given they closed at 6pm. Book any airline other than these guys if you can
Find an alternative airline
I strongly recommend seeking an alternative airline.
We were 'involuntarily denied boarding' (bumped) at the very last moment from our outward flight to Venice from Schiphol and were - for no given reason - disallowed from boarding the connecting flight which left us stranded for four hours at Humberside airport at 5am on a Sunday morning.
Our return flight was then delayed just long enough for us to miss our connection home. But not long enough for them to pay compensation. Or to cover the flight we missed because that one "wasn't delayed"!
There was unbelievably poor communication, or service, or availability of assistance throughout. I had to be escorted back through security in Venice to find a KLM representative. The KLM representatives at Schiphol were unsympathetic, with practiced meaningless lines they've clearly used a hundred times before. The Schiphol hotel KLM put us in served a meal which had presumably been kept warm for some hours. I developed food poisoning that night, my husband got it the next day. I had to travel in that condition. The whole experience was terrible. Truly terrible
KLM just made my day!
Made a claim for compensation from a cancelled flight 3rd July. Very easy to use online claim form. I submitted my claim at 10.50am and received approval less than 4 hours later. Astonishing service. Not only did KLM approve the mandatory compensation under EU261 but also the sundry expenses without quibbling. 5 stars and a very impressed customer. Book with KLM, they have you covered!!

My grandson has booked a flight from…
My grandson has booked a flight from Newcastle to Amsterdam got to the airport in plenty time yet told they have over booked and he can't get on the plane how can this happen when he has paid for his flight it's disgusting surly he has a right to get on the flight they've took his money he's paid taxi to the airport
Trying to book my sports equipment
I have never experienced customer service as frustrating and stressful as this.
For the past three weeks, I have been trying to book two bouldering crash pads as sports equipment for my KLM flights. Despite clearly explaining from the beginning that they were sports equipment, they were incorrectly booked as excess baggage. Correcting this mistake has involved countless phone calls, hours spent on hold, and speaking to a different adviser every time, each of whom gave me different information.
I was repeatedly promised that I would receive an answer within two days. Instead, it took three weeks. When I finally received an update, one crash pad had been accepted and the other declined because of the way it had been entered by KLM. The second has now apparently been submitted again, but nobody can tell me whether it will be accepted or even what I will be charged. I have been quoted a possible cost ranging from around £30 to £240 per flight, which is an unacceptable level of uncertainty.
To make matters worse, I was verbally assured that the accepted crash pad would travel free of charge, but when I asked for this in writing, I was told it wasn't possible. I received only an automated email with no confirmation of what had been promised. I now face turning up at the airport at 4 a.m. worried that I could still be charged hundreds of pounds because nobody is willing to provide clear written confirmation.
The entire experience has been exhausting, stressful and completely avoidable. A simple request has turned into weeks of uncertainty because of repeated mistakes, inconsistent advice and poor communication. I have spent hours of my time chasing answers that should have been straightforward.
This experience has left me in tears and has taken away the excitement of my trip. I expected far better from an international airline. KLM needs to improve the consistency of its customer service, ensure staff understand their own baggage policies, and provide customers with clear, accurate information instead of leaving customers anxious and uncertain until they reach the airport.
Based on this experience, I will never choose to fly with KLM again and cannot recommend the airline to anyone else. No customer should have to spend weeks chasing answers, receive conflicting information from multiple advisers, and be left worrying about unexpected charges on the day of travel.
Bags were delayed ! Arrived damaged and empty !
Bags were delayed ! Bags Arrived broken into with entire contents missing ! KLM offers £11 as compensation months after the ordeal. What a fkn joke !!! Scum !
Excessive baggage delay
1 bag missing on outward journey - returned within 6 hours.
2 bags missing on next sector - eventually returned after 5 days. Brought by van from London to Newcastle arriving at midnight.
Bags not loaded to UK until 3 days after we left.
Despite being told 3 times to send them to home address they were still sent to London where we spent 2 days.
Totally unacceptable.
Rubbish
Rubbish! Would give no stars. Their delay that caused me to miss connecting flight was viewed as "extraordinary" so they wouldn't pay compensation for a 6 hour delay! Also my bag was lost, and damaged, for 4 days but all I got was a sorry!
Wort flight of my life
Wort flight of my life they managed to both overbook our flight so we had to wait 10 hours extra at the airport for the next available flight, when we then arrived they had lost my luggage and haven’t been able to deliver it to me during my whole trip

Worse than a low cost airline
Last year we traveled from Madrid back to Norway and they cancelled the flight from Madrid, with just a few hours notice, without offering any help. We had to flight with another airline, with no food or water, we had even paid for our seats. Today, my mother came to Norway for a visit and they have managed to loose her luggage. Seriously? Two years in a row, no improvements
