You can find some great stuff, however, I've had terrible luck with electrical items, items are dead, had a vacuum that set of my smoke detectors and 2 dead floor lamps. Emailed the Birmingham office... See more

AVOID at all costs. Don't be that person that sees a bad review and thinks it won't happen. The fact this "company" so many bad reviews speaks volumes. I've been in contact with bbc watchdog so hopefully they'll get exposed as the money grabbing thieves they are

Just like a lot of reviews on here it has certainly gone down hill. Have had so many things now that are not working and basically junk.nothing in the description to say what condition it's in. I've had electrical and tools that are near retail prices by time you add fees and you received junk although I have had good stuff in the past. They say well you can turn up and inspect but you should be putting true descriptions on items if you are able to bid online. JOHN PYE listen to your customers before you loose them.

Do not. I repeat do NOT buy online. If you cant view, just dont.
We need to all get involved to let rip off Britain know and unsuspecting public.
The charities they support with our hard earned cash, needs to know too.
I lost 100s of pounds this week on a cardboard box and was told, terms and conditions are sold as seen. So dont sell online then. The products conpletely broken. There are 1000s of us in same boat.
They will use their terms and conditions of viewing, so a case of tough luck. Be warned. The photos mislead you. I cant understand how they are legal.
The rip offs go on and on... no wonder director adam and his dad have social media posts of rolls royces and exotic holidays and likes of me a small business in tears losing 400 quid for norhing. Just terrible.
There are facebook pages just for complaints alone !?
John Pye - their online sales scams need to be shut down.
Trust me. Just dont.

JOHN PYE in their response have taking the attitude of complete laziness and basically saying that the delivery contractors can do what they want
WE HAVE HAD YOUR MONEY, UP YOURS CUSTOMER.
Customer services has still not responded as promised in the last email dated 20th may 2026
If you cant collect it dont buy it.
Their delivery contractors dont give a damn if it arrives in one piece or ten.
I have had 4 items delivered and broken in transit.
The company are now ignoring me about the latest pile of fire wood delivered. Sideboard delivered upside down dragged around on its top, the driver walking along the underside breaking the base boards.

I’ve bought a few things from John Pye. They used to be good, they’d tell you if their items were new, used, ex display, returns etc and provide accurate photos and descriptions. The last 3 items I’ve bought (the last 2 were on the same day) were a complete scam! I bought a food mixer (rrp £750) for £360 - gaping hole in the front - hidden deliberately by packing paper. They deliberately concealed it. And the last two things, a tineco floor cleaner that doesn’t charge or self clean as the connection to the base is dodgy and needs propping up (and then can’t self clean) and a cordless hoover - supplied with a motor fault, no battery and no charger - £250 for both. When I complained on accordance with their terms and conditions they said “you could have come and viewed it - the bit where we say you can return faulty goods is only for the auctions where we don’t offer that” (which is none, they offer it with ALL listings I’ve ever seen. A good and transparent company is now a complete scam company. Avoid them like the plague, it’s no longer worth the risk when they are going out of their way to trick previously loyal customers into parting with more of their money than they would have. They should be shut down.

Just a taste of the things I've got from this site:
Layz spa with all the seals busted
Hot water dispenser that only works 1/4 of the time
Hedge trimmers which work great
2 blenders that work great
Pair of speakers with the back removed and components missing, missing power lead
Coffee Machine that was missing the pod holder, but now works great
Pair of headphones for ridiculously cheap that are great
Power washer for very cheap, but with a broken front casing(very minor damage) easy replace
As you can see it's a mixed bag. Try to buy stuff that looks to be in good shape boxes, seems like a lot of this stuff is just floating around warehouses for months picking up damage

I had an issue with a recent bid. Incorrect photo posted against the lot. I didn’t get the clock I bid for. Human error. It is a shame I didn’t get the item I wanted and had to return the package at their cost but these things happen. Ryan G sorted it out promptly and efficiently.
I think a lot of complaints are from people who don’t fully understand the process. Winning bid prices don’t bear much relation to the final price, due to delivery and auction costs. Items may be faulty or damaged. That is the risk you take. I have mostly been lucky. The terms and conditions do make everything clear if you can be bothered to read them.

People should remember that even if an item is listed in a Premium auction this does not guarantee it will work when you get it. Paid £156 for a new, boxed and sealed phone.
Phone is completely dead, tried everything, John Pye didn’t want to know, totally waste of money.

I’ve just made my second purchase from John Pye and it won’t be the last.
The first time I purchased I had problems and mistakingly opted for delivery. A quick phone call and they corrected it all for me and refunded the delivery charge straight away- sent me emails to update without my chasing. Yesterday I failed to make it before closing time, today I got in touch by email and they responded and sorted it all out very quickly. So far, all of the staff from admin to the chaps bringing my items out have been friendly and nothing but helpful. Ryan in admin was especially helpful to me on both occasions. Many thanks!
