Although I had prompt replies to my disappointment in goods which recieved broken, but I the pictures show the item complete and I recieved the goods broken, this is not the first and lesson has been learnt, gone are the days of honesty and customers satisfaction, and will let others know that you will probably get things broken or damaged.

We’ve kitted most of our house out with John Pye goods and have always had a good experience. I recently purchased a mirrored cabinet which arrived smashed on delivery, Persephone arranged for it to be collected and refunded hassle free. I can’t fault them, we’ve had multiple appliances which all work and lovely furniture. Will continue to use and have recommended them to friends.

Appalling! My first time buying off the site and spending nearly £500 to receive two items that weren’t functioning/faulty. Misleading pictures and description. Won’t return items either. Be very cautious before buying off these daylight scammers!

I bought a battery steam mop that was advertised in its wrapping, and looked brand new and faultless. Paid £90 for it and brand new its around £190, so I thought it was a good deal. When I received it, it looked fine until I took it out of the box,and underneath was all smashed, so basically its worthless. I complained on numerous occasions on their online contacts centre, and got no reply. I eventually spoke to someone and they requested that I send photos in, which I did. This turned out to be a waste of time as they then quote their terms and conditions, ie its there to be viewed on site. If this is how they operate they shouldn't sell goods on line,or they should provide photos of every angle of the goods. So I have spent £90 for nothing. A very poor experience dealing with this company.

Bid on an item and was in the lead, winning with the highest bid. The item had 25 seconds left and I left the page window open to watch, it then jumping up to 2 minutes 59 seconds left before the bidding ended.
Absolute scam!!!!!
My reply to your excuse is no you do that out of greed!!! The more someone pays for an item the higher APR you get.

" Good Afternoon Ferdi,
Thank you for contacting John Pye Auctions, Chesterfield.
I apologise that you are not happy with your item, and I understand how this can be upsetting. Unfortunately, we would not be able to provide a refund or return as all our lots are sold as seen. We do not inspect or test the lots and do not provide any guarantee that the items we sell are in working condition. We hold a public viewing period on all sales where customers can view and inspect the lots. The viewing period for this sale was Friday 1st May between 3PM and 5PM. We strongly recommend all customers attend the viewing period, when possible. If you are unable to attend these viewing periods, then we ask you to adjust your bids accordingly.
Kind regards,
Marcus

I have literally spent thousands on items from John Pye and, apart from a couple of low cost items that didn't work, I've been pleased with my purchases.
HOWEVER, I recently bought a washing machine - sold without any reference to being faulty. I paid the price, plus the premium, plus VAT and £50 for delivery on top. When it came, I plumbed it in, it turned on lovely and looked all fine. Then I selected the programme and pressed start... and nothing happened. It just clicked... and clicked. No water fill, no action. "No problem" I thought, just contact Pye. They'll help.
Oh dear. What a disaster. I had a load of rubbish from some guy on email telling me it was sold as seen and basically I'm stuck with it. OK, sold as seen - it looked fine. But it doesn't fulfil its primary purpose, to wash clothes, and I had an expectation that it would. So I am protected by UK consumer law.
Looking at the recent reviews of Pye I can see that they've gone proper downhill - selling faulty, broken bits of rubbish and sending them to consumers across the country. Wasting everyone's time and money.
What on earth do they think I'm going to do with a broken washing machine? Absolute crooks, and I'm cancelling my membership right now.
Thank you John Pye. I have a busy, working full time, family life and no way of washing my kid's clothes. I've now had to borrow money to get a new washing machine from a reputable seller (lets hope) and I will have to pay for someone to take away this piece of rubbish that is lumped in my utility.
Small claims court (cost £35) here I come.

I’ve ordered off of John Pye multiple times now and was always happy with my order. After one of my boxes went missing, I got in touch with customer service and spoke to Logan through emails. They were so helpful, kept in contact with me and managed to track down the missing box. Thank you Logan for resolving the issue :) great customer service

Absolutely terrible experience. I paid over £200 for what appeared to be 8 Chloe L'Eau de Parfum Intense gift sets. The listing showed 8 Chloe gift boxes, so I reasonably expected 8 complete gift sets. Instead, only 2 boxes contained the perfume, while the other 6 contained only the body cream.
When I contacted customer service, they refused to take any responsibility. Their response was that the description, "8 X ITEMS TO INCLUDE CHLOE L'EAU DE PARFUM INTENSE", did not explicitly state that every box contained a perfume. By that logic, even if I had received six empty boxes, they could still claim the listing was "accurate" because there were eight items.
In my opinion, this kind of ambiguous wording leaves customers with no protection and creates expectations that the company later refuses to honour. I feel completely misled by this purchase and deeply disappointed by the way my complaint was handled. I will never buy from John Pye Auctions again and I do not recommend this company.

First time buying from here, did not expect much but a bunch of cowboys, advertise a pallet which contains a Air Con Unit and seen a box with a hoover in the pallet. So brought it just for the Air Con Unit as advertised, picked it up and got home only to open the wrapping and find pieces of plastic in the Air Con Unit packaging which looks like a aerobic step, no Air Con Unit, the hoover box had a broken fan inside it.
Basically you not getting what is on the box and what's advertised, you pay for whatever is in the box and all other stuff is broken or pointless, all the other stuff I can accept, it a gamble but when they tell you there a Air Con Unit you expect to get a Air Con Unit not the box and whatever crap is inside. You just paying for second hand broken rubbish that placed in a box then this is advertised as what's on the box. You learn from your mistakes and won't be going again.

Completely misled by this auction. Received broken and damaged products that were described as fine. Total waste of money. Avoid this place!

Ive had sone decent stuff from here. However,as lots of other people have said the electrical items are more often than not broken or filthy. I bought a boxed microwave oven thatvwas both dirty and broken. They use the line thst customers can view lots in advance which feels like an excuse for the poor condition of the goods, but for those of us are online auction customers this isnt really good enough. I would have thought that the basic standard for sellers would include an honest description of whether they are in working order and clean condition, as it goes now sellers can get away with using the auction to dispose of useless products and get paid for them too. While auctioneers let this practice continue people will continue to get ripped off while sellers profit from rubbish disposal, As it stands now there is no incentive for tgese people to take responsibility

If there was the option to give zero stars I would. Absolutely awful experience. Bought a mirror sold, to open it and find it is smashed into smithereens. A label on the side stating 'for the skip'. Ended up with glass over car and our floor and had to dispose of it at the tip. Complained straight away and it was then dealt with by the manager who refused to refund. Why on earth would you sell someone a smashed up mirror. Will never use again!

We have shopped for years with John Pye and spent literally thousands of pounds with them renovating our sons and our houses. I know the risks.. sold as seen expect damage and check the description carefully. You just have to lower your expectations and hope it comes good. Which mostly it does.
However.. we bought a dressing table The box was fully sealed but On assembly we realised that there was no table in the box! Just legs, base an a drawer.
The description of a “table” is inaccurate as a table cannot be a table without a top! Its primary function is for placing objects on!
They usually state if parts are missing or damaged or if it is only 1 of 2 parcels but this did not.
I fully accept and understand that their goods are sold as seen, but this does not protect the auctioneer or seller from liability where goods are misdescribed or misleadingly labelled under the consumer rights act of 2015 and the misrepresentation act 1967.
I emailed them, sent pictures then got the standard response “sold as seen”
This has annoyed me as no attention was given to the fact that we are good customers and a token good will gesture refund (only £25) wouldn’t have hurt them. I wouldn’t of written this review or started buying items elsewhere
It’s not a huge amount of money paid it just the principle of not caring for their customers that has annoyed me
Thank you for the cut and paste reply.. I did view the sealed box at marchington and go most Saturdays. It doesn’t change the fact that you stated in black and white that the box contained a table. It did not.. just a box of bits.. you usually state incomplete or show damage but you didn’t on this occasion
Thank you
