Poorly managed, unacceptable service

Our experience with the Roath branch during the sale of our property fell significantly below the standard one would reasonably expect from a professional estate agency.

Continuity of service was notably deficient. Our named agent was repeatedly absent on annual leave without prior notification, and there appeared to be no effective handover process. Covering staff were insufficiently briefed, requiring us to repeatedly restate key details about our property or wait until the named agent’s return.

Communication was consistently reactive rather than proactive. Updates were rarely provided unless explicitly requested, and even then required persistent follow-up.

Marketing activity was minimal and lacked initiative — limited largely to an online listing and circulation within the agency’s existing database. In a challenging market, it was concerning that we, as clients, were left to propose strategies to improve interest.

The mid-process introduction of the KeyFlo platform — without notice or explanation — further disrupted communication and added unnecessary complexity.

When we raised these concerns, the response from our agent was dismissive and, at times, unprofessional in tone, suggesting a lack of accountability. Although escalation to senior leadership resulted in a temporary improvement, this was neither sustained nor sufficient.

More serious concerns arose in relation to basic operational standards:
* Our property was left unsecured following a viewing while we were away, representing a clear breach of trust.
* We were not accurately informed of viewing attendees; on one occasion, a prospective buyer attended with an electrician to undertake a form of survey without our prior knowledge or permission.
* Viewing feedback via KeyFlo was frequently delayed and often lacked any substantive content (eg “Second viewing completed”), undermining its usefulness.

Despite these cumulative failings, our reasonable request for a modest reduction in fees—reflecting the level of service provided—was declined without meaningful engagement.

Taken together, these issues reflect systemic shortcomings in communication, professionalism, and client care. This was a frustrating and, at times, concerning experience. We would not recommend this branch.

Maddie at JeffreyRoss was fantastic!

Maddie at JeffreyRoss was fantastic to deal with and was instrumental in moving the purchase of our first house along when things seemed slow. We were always provided with timely updates, quick responses to emails, and overall friendliness whenever I rang. I would abolutely recommend JeffreyRoss to anyone.

I used Jeffrey Ross to sell my house. Unfortunately I had to pull out of the sale very last minute due to personal issues. Jeffrey Ross were really understanding and helpful during this time and even waived the termination fee. Can’t recommend enough. Thank you

General Positive Performance

Good house details prepared and portal info link established. Agreed Buyer sell price established in a reasonable timeframe, but Completion took 6 weeks longer than originally planned. Actions & drive post agreed sell-price being established (Maddie), was good.

Team really friendly and seemed on top…

Team really friendly and seemed on top of the process keeping me updated regularly .
The only reason for not 5 stars is that there was some info I had to chase up about the property that i needed from management company and have to follow up post completion.Im sure if they were aware from vendor then would have informed me.
Would use them again though definitely and Ruby gave me good ideas on interior design!

Disappointing Experience with Jeffrey Ross Letting Agent

I recently applied to rent a property through Jeffrey Ross, and I was disappointed with the outcome. My friend and I, both male, were interested in a spacious 932 sq ft off Waterloo road advertised as 2 bed flat that had two official bedrooms and an additional small room, effectively making it a three-bedroom flat.

Despite the ample space, we were informed that the property was only available for a single person or a couple due to the presence of elderly residents in the building. This decision felt unreasonable, especially since the flat was more than suitable for two individuals. We believe our application was rejected without a valid explanation, as we were not given the opportunity to provide additional context or details about our previous rental history, where we lived peacefully among elderly neighbors for over two years Edward Nicholl Court which is literally 2 min's walk from property we been interesting to rent .

It was frustrating to be denied based on criteria that seemed unclear and biased. We were fully capable of affording and maintaining the property, and this experience has raised concerns about the fairness of the rental process with this agency. I hope that such practices are reviewed, as they can be disheartening for potential tenants in today's rental market.

As Lettings Agents, we are asked to act on behalf of our Landlord client to secure suitable tenants as per their wish - in this case, our requirement was to find a single person or couple for their concern of additional noise pollution to the elderly lady, downstairs should two friends occupy the property. This policy only applies to this particular property in question and we do have a host of alternative properties within the area that we could offer, instead (subject to your suitability to rent, annual income / timescales etc) so we would be delighted to offer some alternative properties to you.

Penarth branch experience has been fab

I’ve had a really good experience with the penarth branch so far. Jessica, Lauren, Lisa and Sarah have been fab. I’m a big panickier and at times felt like I’ve pestered yet they’ve all talked me through everything and put my mind at ease!!

The measurements of the house we bought…

The measurements of the house we bought were out by a metre in some rooms. The details were sloppy and very few photos were available. Access was limited. We were asked why we need all these visits? The answer was because I couldn't trust anything Knights told me.
