It took a while for me to choose an online course to pursue, as I wanted to take a course that didn't have any pressures to compete work by a certain deadline, as I wanted to do a around work and family life. I found the IOP online and just liked the sound of it from the off. Extremely glad I took the plunge as it's giving me the opportunity to start cementing the knowledge I am getting by working through the modules. One thing I REALLY like is the feedback from tutors, it's a great help for me to critique some images which helps me develop as a photographer and hopefully one day soon I can move up from taking ok shots to great ones. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn more about Photography.

I was very disappointed that I saved up to pay for my diploma and chose it specifically because it offered "Lifetime access". Only to find out that one has to login once a year or you lose this course completely and have to pay to regain access. This was in the small print and not very transparent. Disappointed customer.

Having never been able to find the self-discipline to undertake and complete online courses, I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only was I able to complete the IoP Diploma in Photography but I was looking forward to coming back to it. The course can be taken at your own pace; you can return to it as frequently as you wish, and it is useful underpinning knowledge coupled with practical assignments. It pushes you as much as you want to be pushed and almost compels you to strive for higher targets - for your own learning and accomplishment. I have completed 3 diplomas now and looking forward to my Advanced Diploma in Photography, having grasped the basics and then some. My photography has improved immensely and I am considering setting up my own business either as solely photography or encompassing photography. I am forever learning new skills and as IoP adds new content to the course, it always remains relevant. I would highly recommend this course and other Institute of Photography courses. Tutors are on hand, able to critique, review, advise and praise your work, which is invaluable to effective learning. Also, you are not pressured into completiing your course within 12 months or lose it, as is often the case for many other providers. This makes a huge difference to how you approach the course. It made learning that much easier. Well done IoP.

I was a bit upset that I lost access to my course after not logging in for a year- I have just been too busy for hobbies. With the exception of this limited log in time frame, the course has been great. The IOP have been very reasonable with me and very helpful. They have provided excellent feedback and addressed my concerns. I therefore have amended this review to reflect the level of service offered by the IOP.

This is a well structured course that really motivated me. The fact that I could work through the modules without worrying about deadlines meant that I could invest more time on the content and aim that bit higher. The course design really improved my understanding of this particular field of photography and gave me the opportunity to learn from experts. I particularly enjoyed the way the course stimulated me to look at the work of the famous street photographers and I now have a book shelf full of their work ! The quality of the feedback on the assignments was brilliant. I have certainly learned a lot and have definitely improved my photography.

I chose to study for an Advanced Diploma in Photography with IOP because I could study around my job which involves shift work. The Advanced Diploma has taught me so much about photography and different techniques to improve my results. The feedback and advice from the tutors Tim and Michael has been absolutely invaluable, I would definitely recommend any of the courses IOP offers.

I recently completed the Advanced Diploma in Photography with a Highly Commended. This is a great achievement for me and I wanted to thank everyone at the IoP. I found the advanced course really insightful and Tim McCann has been a great mentor.

I have just competed and passed the Advanced Diploma of Photography. It is an excellent course which can be completed at the pace most suitable for the student. It is challenging and every assistance is given throughout the course and the feedback is of great value. I learned so much and would thoroughly recommend the course to any photographer looking to improve their photography skills

Can't recommend this course enough! I started off just being able to use the standard camera functions and can now operate my camera in manual mode with a modicum of confidence and was astounded to pass with a Highly Commended!

Being able to study at my pace was a bonus and the feedback from the tutors is second to none. Always hinting at how to push yourself to take a better image.

I liked doing this course. The tutor gave useful feedback on the work I did and there was lots of modules and videos that are very helpful.

An excellent course to take and one which comprehensively covers all areas of photography in depth and in an easy to understand format. I am not new to photography and therefore some of the content was going over old ground for me, but, that was no bad thing and for anyone starting out an excellent way to ease them into photography and lead them into what was to follow. Furthermore the tutor support provided was first class and a very necessary and important requisite to improve one's photography. Well done to the course team and I would without reservation recommend it to any one starting out or wishing to improve their photography.
One last thing to mention is that I was given a present of enrolment on another online photography course which I'm afraid to say could not in any way compare to this one. Perhaps some other courses are good too but without doing them I can't comment.
I rarely write this type of review normally but have made an exception here as I think it might be of use to anyone contemplating doing the course . They won't be disappointed.

The most impressive thing about this course is personal feedback from the course tutors on the assignments - this is gold dust and has been very helpful. Whilst friends and family may tell you what you want to hear, the tutors will give you honest feedback and constructive criticism, from a professional viewpoint. The assignments really push you to extend the quality of your images, so overall very worthwhile doing.

I have just finished my diploma in photography, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It has become stressful and challenging at times, but I have had full support from my tutor, who has helped me through the course.
I am thinking of doing the Advanced photography course in the new year.

People say in life is all about making the right choice and my choice in them proves it's right. Not just bring more depth to my passion in photography, their courses training and assignment are helps to overcome imperfection that we might not notice and brings out the best in us. I've certainly have gain a lot and enjoy them all. Lastly, when logging into the courses, always remember "Be here now" as that's your part of end to making it happen, too. Cheers!

I do recommend the IOP courses for those new, and those with a basic understanding to photography. Each module is laid out nicely, and the information is really useful to developing your practice, whilst being presented in ways that are easy to understand. I saw my practice improve as the course went on, and found I was retaining really useful information from previous modules and applying them to my current work. The tutors feedback was very impressive. Always rather prompt in replying to any questions (as were the admin staff when I needed them) and very detailed feedback to each assignment. It didn't feel as textbook as I had expected it to be, nor did it feel pasted from a template. I was given lots of direction with how to improve further my work, referring to specific parts of my image, I was sent copies of my photo with examples of these improvements on them and suggested modules to help me do this as well as recommended software. I really appreciated this, and also found the tutor very encouraging and genuine. I started my course back in 2013, and went travelling when I was half way through- so I particularly appreciated that the course had no end limit on it, as long as you logged in at least once a year to keep your account active. I have seen improvements to the course content and the Institute as a whole online over the years, and its nice to see more courses popping up, specialising in certain areas should that take your fancy.

I was really pleased with the course content, the communication received and the results.

A very good course to help you develop your knowledge and skills in all aspects of photography. The assignments are a great way to focus you on the task in hand. The constructive feedback from the tutors is extremely helpful and no doubt will further your skills and knowledge. It took me a while to get started, but once you do it becomes both challenging and rewarding.

I really enjoyed the photography course.....most of all I was impressed by the tutors swift and very helpful feedback for my assignments. Also thanks to the admin dept for exceedingly swift and helpful manner when I had a small problem logging in.......very quickly dealt with by them. An excellent course.

If you are looking to enrol on a Photography course then look no further than IOP. I only picked up a DSLR camera for the first time 4 months before enrolling on the Advanced Diploma and the instruction and critique I have been given is outstanding. The course is very comprehensive covering every aspect of photography and the great advantage for me was that you can study at your own pace which is invaluable with today's hectic lifestyles. I have since recommended friends to these courses and they too are enjoying them a great deal. I can't speak highly enough of this institution. Very impressed !

Absolutely fantastic course, it's taught me so much in DSLR camera controls and composition, I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to take control of their camera and capture some great images.
