looks like a good course on first sight. but all of the content is easily available for free. Some of the projects give no instruction on how to achieve results. At the end they want you to pay £30 for a certificate!!!!

I would recommend the Institute of Photography to anyone wanting to do a course to improve their photography. I have just completed the Professional Diploma and found it a very challenging, yet thoroughly enjoyable experience. The tutors were very helpful, the online content is both comprehensive and informative, and the course is a building block experience, starting with the basics then building up knowledge to more advanced techniques. Overall a first rate experience.

I have just finished my Advanced diploma in photography with Institute of Photography, I started this course to help me improve my photography skills and get better camera knowledge, this course has definitely done that, the course explains every detail in stages to help you move on to the next unit, it gives you assignments to complete as well that will challenge you to give you confidence, I would recommend this course to anyone that wishes to take stunning photographs whether its for a hobby or full time photography

I've just finished this professional diploma course, its been an awesome learning journey, gone from having a good basic understanding to now shooting weddings and getting commercial work, the course is so in-depth and the feedbackive had from Tim is really really useful and worth the course fees alone, really detailed and with things you can actually try straight away, self paced and worth every penny and time!!

A fantastic course that not just allowed me to scale up my photographic skills but also enabled to be part of a great community. Whilst one has all the benefits of accessing the course through a fantastic online platform, it also provides access to great professional tutors, group chats, monthly competitions and so on. The course is so flexible that one can do it over a few years. No pressure, take ones own time.

When wanting to study photograph I looked around a few online courses, but one thing that I liked about the IOP was that I could do it at my own pace, if life got in the way I could drop and then return to the course as needed. The tutor chats are a great help and this along with the private FB group allows you to interact with your fellow students. I could not recommend the IOP enough, so much so I’ve purchased the Lightroom courses as well. Although still studying, my photography has improved so much and this is down to what I have learned so far from Tim and the other tutors at IOP

Wanting to learn and improve my photography, I looked at a number of options before taking the plunge and signing up for the Professional Diploma in Photography with IOP. From the beginning, I found the units clear and useful. The course covers the technical details of photography, creative aspects, encourages students to explore different genres and offers great support and feedback. Like many things - the more you put into the course, the more you get out of it!

I started studying for the Professional Diploma in Photography in September last year and am really enjoying the course. The course is well structured and the unit content is excellent. Modules are clearly presented with material to read, videos and a challenging practical assignment. The assignment enables you to put the theory into practice with in-depth constructive criticism from the tutors. The tutor feedback is detailed and informative highlighting positive points as well as areas for improvement, and really helps to improve photography skills. Tutor support is also available through online chat and email and the response to any questions is always quick and thorough.
I have learned a great deal already and my photography has improved significantly. I’m looking forward to the rest of the course.

My learning experience with IOP has been second to none. The Diploma in Photography is a great course to get you well set up with much more than the basics. It helps you to master your camera with confidence as well as really understand how to compose and shoot better images. And all at your own pace.
The Tutor support is very much there when you need it. Living in a fairly remote place in Kenya, I was worried about not having a "connection" with those involved with this course. But the personal, positive and constructive support and feedback from my tutor has always been so encouraging. There is also a lot of useful, fun and friendly interaction amongst fellow students through the IOP Facebook group. I have really enjoyed taking part in the voluntary monthly competitions - they have been a great challenge in getting more creativity out of you, as well as putting techniques into practice.
I am still finishing off the Lightroom course and most definitely plan to take the Professional Diploma in Photography with IOP in the near future as I now feel confident that I can take this passion of mine to the next level. Thank you IOP!

This is a fantastic course. You are able to learn at your own pace which I have found extremely beneficial as I work full-time and have a family. The tutor feedback is very useful and was the primary reason I chose this course over other online courses. I have really progressed a lot in my photography since beginning the course.

brilliant course units very informative and easy to follow i have enjoyed the course and am now taking alot better photos the tutor support is brilliant and easily accesible i would highly recomend IOP should anyone want to do an on-line photography course

I would highly recommend the IOP to anyone. I completed an Advanced Diploma initially and am near completion of the Advanced Diploma in Wedding Photography. Both courses are fantastic, really informative and the tutor feedback is always really positive and constructive. I never anticipated how quickly my photography would improve as a result of the courses and it helps that they can be done at your own pace around your other commitments. I've recently started the Lightroom course also, so far so good!

I chose to study for my Advanced Diploma in Photography with the Institute of Photography (IOP) because of their flexibility. This is a course you can really enjoy completing, because you can choose to do it when it suits you. The IOP team are consistent, professional and there to help you whenever you need them. The course is really well structured and broken down into manageable chunks. They are always working to improve it and giving you access to new information and learning tools which is fab! The support network through either the tutors or wider student network is also amazing. And best of all, you get to stay part of this wonderful community once you've completed your course. Although I've been awarded my qualification, I feel like I'm only really starting on my journey ahead and I'm excited to see what it brings for me.

I took the advanced diploma course and found it to be a thoroughly rewarding experience.
The course material is very well structured, highly informative and clearly presented. More importantly from my point of view, the tutor feedback is very detailed and really helpful. The criticism is always constructive and invariably highlights positive points as well as areas for improvement. I learned a great deal about both the theory and practice of photography from taking this course.
No one can make you a great photographer, you have to find the capacity for that within yourself, but taking this course gave me the confidence and enthusiasm to keep trying. I have no hesitation in recommending I o P.

I would highly recommend the IOP courses to anyone with an interest in developing their skills and knowledge of photography. I took the Advanced Diploma in Photography course and found it to be very well structured with each unit well laid out presenting information that is easy to understand and that is helpful in developing practical camera skills and general photographic knowledge.
As well as both practice and graded units there is plenty of tutor support available through online chat and e-mail. In addition there is pier support available from other students and monthly friendly competitions and critique all of which add not only to the value of the course but also the development of knowledge and skills.
As I progressed through the course I saw improvement in my work which was backed up by tutor feedback. This feedback was very impressive and invaluable as not only did it highlight both the positive areas of my work and the areas for improvement, there were always suggestions on how the improvements could be made along with support to achieve them. For me this also highlighted the knowledge and experience of my tutors not only as photographers but as experienced tutors as well.
The fact that the course offers lifetime access provided you log in once a year as a minimum was a real bonus for me. Since starting the course in 2014 I have closed a business, emigrated and had two kids all of which has meant photography was not always at the top of my priorities. Being able to work through the units at my own pace when it was convenient for me really took the pressure off and allowed me to focus on the course when I had the time, and to not worry about it when I didn’t.
Another great advantage to this lifetime access is that during the time I have been taking the course there have been many course improvements with new and additional content being added as well as updates to existing content where relevant. Now that I have completed the course I still have access to all the course units and as I type, I have received notification of further course improvements which I continue to have access to. :-)
I am very pleased with how my knowledge and skills have improved as a result of taking this course and I can see the improvements not only in my images but in the way I approach my photography. Getting out of automatic mode and into full manual mode not only helped me learn and understand what my camera is capable of but also encouraged me to start developing a more creative style within my photography.
Since starting the Advanced Diploma in Photography course with IoP I have:
Won a competition at my local camera club with a printed portfolio of my landscape photography
Developed a website to display my work
Gained some experience in a professional studio with an Associate of the Master Photographers Association
Gained some experience as a wedding photographer
Improved my skills as sports photographer covering mountain biking, surfing, kitesurfing and kite buggy racing
Volunteered as a photographer for my local Junior Surf Life Saving club
Begun the process of developing my own photography business.

All of the above is as a result of the knowledge, skills and confidence learnt and gained from participation in the Advanced Diploma in Photography course.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience with IoP and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.

Excellent course. Brilliant tuition, with your tutor being able to help via email whenever you need advice on your photography. I highly recommend the Institute of Photography to anyone who is serious about improving their camera skills to a professional level. Or, indeed, anyone who wants to just practise, learn and enjoy!

The courses are so well presented and the staff are helpful when needed. Giving feedback and constructive advice. Well worth the cost.

The courses these guys have are very good and the content available to learn is well laid out.
I actually finished my course last year. You would think ok that's is but it's not.
The course content continues to be updated and as long as you sign in regularly you retain access to all the assignments plus anything new that's added making it really very good value.
Can not recommend these guys enough and have never registered signing up.
