This is an excellent course. It has encouraged me to think about and reflect on my current practices and procedures. Our tutor was inspiring, knowledgeable, and nurturing and the pacing of the sessions was perfect for the content. I thoroughly recommend this course to any dog walking professional who wants to take their business to the next level.

I have done a few courses with IMDT now - face-to-face training days and many webinars. I really can’t fault them, always enjoyed every aspect!
I never needed to postpone any of the courses so have not dealt with the customer service.
But purely on the learning & dog training side of things: I love how the courses are structured, the learning material and the tutors are great. I’ll be booking my assessment in spring 2025 so will see what my experience is like then 🤞😂 I’m keeping positive! And fingers crossed! Ren M

It was very informative allowing me and my dog to learn lots! I would definitely recommend to future trainers. Our instructors Alun and Tanya were very welcoming and approachable enabling us to ask any questions that we had. I now feel much more confident in my ability and knowledge as a dog trainer. I really enjoy learning with the IMDT it's broken down so no matter what level your at it's easy to understand. Also the information and knowledge I gain helps me understand dogs even more in my work .

Only disappointment has been the lack of replies from the query team. I was expecting a phone call before booking and have sent another email regarding working outside the UK and I’ve never received a response.

Think it’s important to know this is a pathway where you receive little handholding and it’s also not guaranteed other IMDT members will want you to shadow/volunteer alongside them either. I’ve emailed most of the registered trainers from the IMDT directory in London and have even contacted some on social media, I haven’t received any replies.

Maybe IMDT should set up a volunteering/work experience scheme or introduce a clause for registered members to accrue a certain number of mentoring hours per year in order to retain their registration.

Great course, just go into it with confidence and expect to learn everything yourself. It’s similar to University without the mandatory peer work

After completing many courses with IMDT both practical and online, I have found they are generally well laid out, informative and a great place to meet and speak with like minded people.

The disappointing part to the courses is the customer care you receive, the social skills are inappropriate and a little abrupt, especially when questioning the material you did not receive on completion of a course. Unfortunately there is no aftercare, once course is purchased and completed …. thats it you’re done. Even if there is an error on their part.

Due to the lack of approachability, kindness and just general poor social skills, being a part of the team, is something I have had no doubt in not becoming therefore cancelling of my IMDT assessment. It is disappointing and believe the love and heart from the instructors to deliver some great experience and information are being ruined by the business/admin side.

A really informative and safety focused course. Lots of detail on how to keep safe as well as great training on the consultation itself. Can’t recommend highly enough.

1 day canine body language

Mus, the facilitator was outstanding, knowledgeable and very charismatic. The whole session was very enjoyable.

Structure of the course very well organised.

The videos very limited. Generally one per subject, some of them with dogs too far away from the camera and a couple of topics without videos at all!

I must point out once the course is finished videos are not available and cannot revise eventhough several pupils had lag at the time of watching them.

Failed to get reply from IMDB when I tried to contact them after the course.

This course has helped me to identify by name different dog communicative behaviours but has not improved my expertise at reading them.

I am happy I did the course but still debating if it was worth the full cost.

The tutor was great, so knowledgeable and friendly.
The content was amazing, and relevant too.

I completed the 2 day instructors course recently over a series of 4 evenings. Its a brilliant course that gives very clear explanations but also engages you from start to finish. Looking forward to the next one.

Wow, an amazing four days. I’ve never run a dog class and Im not confident with my knowledge or practical skills but the course was so well taught and the practical elements bolted on in little bits with opportunity to practice before moving on to the next part that I achieved so much more than I thought I would. The tutors and other attendees were so kind and supportive, offering positive feedback as well as tips and things to consider; I never felt judged, the atmosphere was one of learning and mutual support. I’ve come away feeling more knowledgeable, skilled and confident and having made some new friends too. Whatever level you’re at you will learn lots as the tutors are so good at tailoring their feedback to the individual. I can’t recommend this course enough, absolutely superb 🎉😊

Dog welfare was taken very seriously for dogs participating in the 4 days, I started with my easy sociable dog however with the guidelines and structure in place for training (and dogs left in vehicles) I was able to do some training with my nervous/reactive ones too which was an added bonus but also allowed participants to experience more anxious dogs. Great 4 days packed with practical and hands on experience.

I've really enjoyed completing the IMDT Level 4 CorrespondenceCourse. The tutor team, and other trainers completing the course, are like having your own personal cheerleading team driving you forward and helping celebrate your success. I can't recommend the course enough for a deeper understanding of canine behaviour and how to help canine companions and their guardians ❤️

I have just completed the 4 day practical instruction course and it was fantastic. The tutors were amazing, making everyone feel at ease, the daily incremental challenges really make you push yourself but the learning you come away with is fantastic. My dogs Roxy and Mila had the best 4 days ever, lots of training treats and fun! 100% would recommend this to anyone.

The 4 dayer was brilliant! I gained loads of confidence! The instructors made it really enjoyable with their friendly attitude. I woke up the morning after my last day wishing I could go back.
It was also lovely meeting so many like minded people! And I’ve never seen the dogs so tired 🤣
I will definitely be doing more IMDT courses!

I really liked the way this tutor relayed the information on this course. He kept up the pace and completed the handout provided not leaving me feeling like I need explanation for anything missed. I like that the tutor didnt make you feel stupid when asking questions. I really enjoyed the content of the couse, as a dog trainer I learned new information.

It would have been good to have had a recording following the course, being neurodivergent I can struggle to remember content and subsequent notes dont always make sense - my reason for giving 4*.

I have attended the Assessment preparation webinar, the 2 day career as a dog trainer and the 4 day practical instructor workshops. They are extremely well structured and give you everything you need in order to pass the IMDT assessment. The assessment is also very thorough and the trainers do all that they can to put you at ease. It is great that the IMDT not only prepare you thoroughly but test you thoroughly to ensure the quality of their trainers remains high. There are not many organisations in this unregulated industry that test your knowledge, your practical training skills in both a grouo and 1:1 situation and your follow up reporting, but IMDT do. Really enjoyed the courses I've done, learned plenty and met some great people. 5 stars from me.

This 4 day course is the best dog training course I have ever attended. The course is well constructed, packed with purposeful trainings and very informative. The instructors are so knowledgeable and helpful. The course atmosphere is friendly but tense. Love this course.
