Humana is terrible

I had to switch insurance companies as my previous insurance company stop covering my meds for rheumatoid arthritis. Now I’m with Humana. What a disaster and if you don’t have to go there don’t this spending account card is absolutely useless. They tell you some things are covered and then they’re not and I don’t have an extra $200 to find out what else they don’t cover.

HUMANA

T.O.
Humana
PO Box 769649
Roswell, GA

Good morning Humana Insurance, none of you are responding to my letters. My order code is 13431372. I am concerned because you are not covering the devitalization service, contrary to what your agents are selling, who say that the service is covered. My daughter needs the treatment at Sage Dental, the dentist who is contracted with you, and they are asking for $2,200. I ask you to help me resolve this problem and provide me with a dentist contracted with Humana.
I await your reply.

For Medicare Advantage PPO plan I have…

For Medicare Advantage PPO plan I have with Humana its cheaper than other plans, does look much better than others. However, thats where it ends. Overall experience is pretty bad. Always a mess with determining if particular doctor or facility is in-network or not. Worst part is they even serve claims incorrectly identifying some doctors as out-of-network while indeed they are in-network (as indicated on Humana own site) and it may take multiple calls and in-fighting to resolve the problem. Too many doctors also wont even take Humana even as out-of-network service, not to mention most good hospitals. Customers service is hit and miss, with agent way too often not well trained and just incompetent (some struggling even to pronounce specialty, like gastroenterologist). All-in-all you can save some money going with Humana, but it ain't worth it. I switched to Aetna, pay some $30 more monthly premiums and while not perfect, so far have much more pleasant time with customer service, not to mention, no issues with doctors or hospitals been in -network.

I would never recommend Humana for meds…

I would never recommend Humana for mail order prescriptions. I have been out of my meds for over 2 weeks! They sent the request to the wrong Dr first. Next they sent the wrong meds 3 times!! Then they said they were extraditing it a week ago and I am still waiting. It has sent me into one of the worst flairs I have ever had. The ones who answer their phones have no idea what they're doing. I will be changing as soon as it is possible

My 100% Real experience with Humana is…

My 100% Real experience with Humana is that they are inhumane & cruel to their Clients, they play mind games, you can call them on phone for weeks and not get anything done, their systems are set up to fail, its just a waste of time, don't be decieved by their pledge that they dont discriminate against people and they use Fluffy and Safe Branding, Humana absolutely targets people that they dont like to screw them over, Humana has been the worst experience I ever had with any insurance company.

Humana shines

I have recently had two interactions with customer service representatives for Humanna Rx Plan. Both were fantastic, very knowledgeable, very thorough, both did absolutely everything they could do to help me. I am almost 70 years old and this is a rare event for me where the customer service representatives did everything they could to help me.

Humana HMO not what it used to be . . .

I agree with others that Humana HMO Gold Advantage USED to be a good plan. Unfortunately, that has changed. My inhaler, which in 2024 cost me $4.06 now costs me $130.00.
In 2024, a cardiac ultrasound cost me $20.00. in 2025, it cost me $150.00. Ironically, the amount Humana paid decreased by about $90.00, while my end went up by $130.00.
I had intended to look elsewhere during the last open enrollment, but got lazy and blew it off. That won't happen in the 2026 open enrollment.

Humana Gold Plus Plan's Unethical Physician Contract

I am an internist in Pembroke Pines who was a primary care provider (PCP) for the Humana Gold Plus Medicare Advantage Plan offered to seniors in Florida. I am concerned about unethical practices by the Humana Health Plan in their "full risk" contracts with PCPs. In these contracts, the PCP can lose hundreds of thousands of dollars caring for sick patients. PCPs on full risk Humana plans find it challenging to provide needed medical care to patients that is expensive, as by doing so, they can lose massive sums of money. The PCP, therefore, is in a non-fiduciary relationship with patients because of this financial conflict of interest. This conflict of interest is not disclosed to Humana Gold Plus members who are assigned to PCPs with full risk contracts. Humana violates the ethical guidelines of the AMA by not disclosing the non-fiduciary relationship of the PCP and by inflicting potential massive financial losses on PCPs doing their best to care for sick patients. To avoid such losses, PCPs may result in "cherry-picking" only healthy Humana Gold Plus members while rejecting the very sick ones, or possibly by denying needed medical care, thus jeopardizing patients' lives. I advise Humana Gold Plus patients to avoid PCPs on Humana's full risk contracts. Leonard J. Hoenig, MD

Customer Service gets an F

I was with Humana supplemental for approximately 3 years. Their price increased 3 times. I switched over to Cigna and received the same coverage for $45.00 less per month. I spoke with Humana and informed them that I would be canceling my supplemental coverage and that I expected to receive a refund for the monthly billing I had already paid. They said yes, but three months have passed, and I have been on the phone with their customer service for over two hours. I was assured I would be getting a refund, but I still have not received it. I went to Walmart to use my Humana…

I went to Walmart to use my Humana Spending Account Card. I got to the register with all this grocery in bags in the cart ready to pay and the card doesn’t work. I was soooo embarrassed. I tried 3 times. The cashier tried 3 times. The cashier said let’s ring up 1 qualifying item. It still didn’t work. She had to close her register, redirect those people because I told her that I had called to verify before I left to be sure money was on the card. I called, waited about 10 minutes, put thru to another representative who told me to hold again. I waited another 10 minutes. She comes back on the phone and tells me, “you’re not going to like what I have to say.” She tells me I have to do a survey, wait 24 hours and then use the card. I said, well when I set up the account online, it didn’t say anything about that, and when I couldn’t sign in and called your company, you didn’t say anything about that. I was sooooooooo angry. This happened a week ago, and I still haven’t called to try and figure out how to do the survey. Think twice about Humana people.

Humana Federal Standard Advantage EPO

Issues with Humana Federal Standard Advantage EPO which is dental coverage through OPM and FEDVIP. This started on 11182025 after dentist got estimate on what Humana would pay and told me my cost. didn't get the procedure. Just had office visit exam/x-ray. Since then myHumana account shows the $1400 claim and that I owe most of it. I didNOT get the work done and have tried to file a full appeal explaining this. Humana site says to upload up to 3 documents less than 5 MG each to substantiate an appeal or grievance. I've tried 4 times, but Humana's site will not upload a 3.3 MG PDF. Now I'll file a complaint with OPM and FEDVIP program, make a change in insurance as soon as I can and provide my experiences with Humana to anyone who will listen.

Just got health care from humana coming…

Just got health care from humana coming from UnitedHealth. I got the gold plus Diabetes and heart plan. Found out today going to the Ymca to do some walking that my plan doesn't provide the silver sneakers benefit. Now I'm confused by the name of this plan is it promoting diabetes and heart disease by not providing members with the tools that prevent these symptoms. Humana please help your members battle these condition or rename your plan from gold to increased.
