Con artists DO NOT USE HOTELOPIA

My holiday could not go ahead thanks to Covid-19. I asked for a refund and was firstly told that the hotel doesn't do that so I can only rebook. I asked to rebook and have since been completely ignored (no reply to 5 emails). I sent another email from. Different account and was replied to quickly, this shows that they are purposely ignoring mail from the first account. I contacted the hotel direct and they said they haven't been in discussion with the booking company and usually do offer refunds. Again showing that HOTELOPIA are lying. I've lost £1k in total and never even went on the holiday. I cant even rebook like they told me to because they are ignoring my emails.

Please do not go through this site they…

Please do not go through this site they are the absolute worst and will take your money! We cannot make our hotel visit due to COVID but they have made themselves completely inaccessible so that you cannot get your money back at all. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THEM.

Requested a refund for a hotel at very short notice before my date of travel. 24 hours after calling all money had been refunded. Can't fault this company!

STAY AWAY FROM HOTELOPIA

If I could give Hotelopia no stars then I would.
I made a booking in Australia however after putting in my credit card details I received a message on the screen saying something went wrong.
Luckily I screenshot it and also called the hotel to confirm they had not received a booking from me via Hotelopia.
But Hotelopia still charged my credit card including an international fee.
I called Hotelopia and eventually got an incredibly rude customer service representative. I could not provide a booking reference because the booking did not go through.
I said I have been charged and he said yeah yeah you said that already and that he would email me and did not ask for my address until I suggested he would need it! This was on 21/12/20. I have received no email.
I have called to either be told leave a message or left on hold and unable to get through even after remaining on hold for more than 30 minutes.
This is the worst booking site. I wish I had used one of the other reputable companies as I am now out of pocket $750 until the booking passes and I can try get refunded through my bank. This simply should not be the way I get refunded.
I will NEVER recommend you to anyone.

Delayed refund!

This company had failed to issue my refund after 6 weeks for a cancelled hotel booking (which was free cancellation). I received an automated response on 6th November 2020 confirming it had been cancelled. Had to call and chase for my refund which took 6 weeks. In between, there was no response to my emails.

I'll unlikely use them again. Better off sticking with the main hotel booking platforms with automated cancellation/ ammendment services online.

Excellent! No issues at all!

After booking with Hotelopia knowing I may have to cancel my booking, I read so many reviews about people not getting their money back. I’d just like to say I’ve had no issues at all with Hotel Opia. I cancelled my hotel booking with one click on their website and received an email informing me I should have my monies within 5-20 days. I received my refund on the very same day I cancelled my booking.

Good news !

I read the critical reviews and wish to provide a positive experience .After attempting to email a cancellation with no luck I phoned 1 800 293 7537 and a few minute later my reservation was cancelled and confirming email received.

Thiefs

I booked a hotel in Tampa, FL and was unable to go. I was told there was free cancellation and went ahead and cancelled the reservation. It has now been a month and I have not received my refund and can not get in contact with anybody at this company. I have put in a credit card dispute as I don’t know what my other options are at this point. I have tried to email where I get an automated reply that the email does not exist and can not find a good telephone number. This company is terrible. DO NOT USE.

Holding my refund hostage

I cancelled a reservation on 29-Sep-20 & was advised would be refunded within 5-20 working days. 22 working days later I rang as still no refund to be advised by a agent had not been done and would take another 7-10 working days. Quoting the agent "we have not actioned it". tried to log a complaint on the website wont accept the reservation number. asked for compensation for having to wait a further 10 workings. The supervisor in his opinions doesn't feel not being refunded £900+ would cause financial hardship so refused compensation.

AVOID THIS HORRIBLE PEOPLE

Very rude person just start to swear at me OMG I can't believe this is a customer service. I booked hotel to malta on 7th October and I am now at the hotel and they told me that my reservation has been cancelled due to security issues on the 13th October so today is 22 October and no one has informed me about it and they told me we refund you. The guy I spoke to very rude person yelled at me to me why you using a stolen card and start to swear at me????? I told him how you dare to cause me I am using a stolen card it's my card with my name address and I want my refund now he said in very mean way " where to refund you you? On your stolen card?" Like OMG??? Then he started to speak in his own language I couldn't understand then he said okay I did refund you I told him I want a confirmation email he said no and laughed I started shouting I need a confirmation email NOW then he hanged on me??? AVOID AVOID AVOID horrible experience. I am now at the hotel and I've paid in cash to make new booking to me and my son.

What about your employees who just disrespected me? Who is this person who just caused me that I am using a stolen card??? Swearing at me with F word???? OMG!

Con Artists - Avoid

Cancelled reservation and was told the refund could not be processed as my card expired and therefore I needed to contact their customer services who would process the refund. Thirty attempted telephone calls and five unanswered emails and I am yet to speak to somebody. Avoid like the plague.

Customer Service is Nonexistent

If getting the cheapest possible rate is the only thing that matters to you, then Hotelopia is a good option. Don't expect much from them if you need to modify or cancel your reservation though, as the customer service simply doesn't exist. Emails get sent straight to the shadow realm, probably never to be opened, let alone read. The link to modify/cancel your reservation always results in a "500 internal server error". From what I have seen from other reviews, the only sure way to get help is to complain on review websites, kind of like what I'm doing right now.

Worst Customer Service and Company Ever

I booked a cancellable hotel booking with Hotelopia as we were looking to travel to Orlando this year, paying £580 in July. However with all flights from the UK subsequently being moved back we were not able to fly. I cancelled the booking on the website on the 16th August, and was sent a cancellation confirmation via email explaining my money would be refunded in 5 -20 days. 60+ days later I still havent received it, despite sending numerous emails. I have also rang a very expensive customer service line that is either never open (even though the voicemail tells you the opening times are the time I am ring between) or Im constantly moved from one department to another and cut off. I've now spent over £40 ringing this company.

Covid has undoubtedly caused havoc with the travel industry this year but some companies have really stepped up and helped people with rearrangements and refunds (Disney refunded us immediately and the funds were back in my account in three days). Hotelopia are not one of those companies though, their actions are borderline criminal (imagine buying something from a shop and the serving staff refused to give you your change?) and I cannot stress this enough, please NEVER EVER use this company, if you need any help you will not get it. Without doubt the worst experience this year, and judging by all the reviews lately I am definitely not an isolated case. AVOID

On the phone with Edward from…

On the phone with Edward from Hotelopia. I booked a Hotel through Westjet. This guy answered the phone yelling Hello! Never identified himself and is one of the rudest CS people I have ever encountered. He is annoyed with me. I have a feeling I will not get my refund. I was only going to change the reservation but after my encounter I chose to cancel it. Then he hung up on me. Holy cow.

Stole $400 from me with no reservation in the system

I called to make a reservation and I was told someone would call me back but never did. When I called back, to make a reservation over the phone customer service told me that I had to go on the website to make a reservation. After putting in my card number and submitting my reservation, I received a error message saying something went wrong and the page went back to the card information. I tried submitting the reservation 2 more times and I still received a error message. My bank notified me immediately that my card was charged 3 times. I called customer service and they told me that I will not be charged because the reservation didn't go through. I checked my account 3 days later they charged me 2 more more transactions after I spoke to them to my bank account. Customer service told me that there was no reservation in my name and they also called the accounting department to see if a card ending in the last 4 numbers of my card was charged and they told me no. Customer service told me that I needed to send a email with my bank statement. That is ridiculous if they are not showing a reservation. I sent the email and no response of course. This company is a rip off and need to be shut down immediately. I planned a trip for this weekend and I need my $400 they stole from me back or my trip will be canceled.

3 weeks and still waiting my money back!

I Made a Booking and cancelled within the policy and haven’t received any Refound yet. Impossible to speak with someone on the phone and no one answered my email. It has already been 3 weeks since I cancelled my reservation and haven’t heard anything back about MY MONEY!!!

Easy and great prices

Booked a room for August and all went smooth.

I have used Hotelopia multiple times and it has always worked out well - prices are really good in selected hotels and bookings were always well confirmed with hotels.
