You are never quite sure after…
You are never quite sure after installation if all the promises that are made at sale are going to turn out to be accurate. Well, today we had he attendance of Richard to correct a minor fault in one of the switches. It wasn't anything which stopped us using our stairlift, so not urgent. It was quickly and efficiently repaired. But then Richard carried out a service of what appeared to be the entire lift, cleaning, lubricating and greasing various parts. His attention to the detail was impressive. So I have no hesitation in giving both Richard and Halton Stairlifts five stars.

Richard the engineer who came was brilliant he explained to me everything what he was doing to find the fault. Replaced the faulty part tested everything a few times and even gave advice on maintenance that could be done by myself in-between the yearly service

GREAT engineer, but had to wait too long for visit
The engineer that came out to fix a fault was excellent. Explained everything and checked we were satisfied with the work. But Haltons would not send someone out for 3 days because it was an intermittent fault. The "intermittent" fault left my wife stranded downstairs so I looked up a fix according to the Internet. I managed a temporary fix and it worked until the next morning when it broke again. I phoned again asking for an engineer to visit but was told again that as I had made it work then a same day visit was not available. So I had to wait with fingers crossed hoping that it didn't break down in the meantime. Not very satisfactory for something that you don't buy for fun but for necessity..

James was polite and friendly. He worked very quickly and efficiently, leaving no mess whatsoever. He took time to show me how the stair lift worked and assisted me whilst I I had my first go.

Stair lift survey and installation
The free survey was completed by Mike found him very friendly and was able to quote for exactly as we wanted we opted for a reconditioned stair lift was very happy with the price.
Stair lift installed a couple of days later fantastic job fitter was great I can’t believe that the stair lift isn’t new very easy to use A++

Reconditioned stairlift I had a few different stairlift…
I had a few different stairlift companies come and give me quotes and their different options I chose Holton as being the best stairlift solution for my needs. I’ve had it for a week now and the difference it has made for me particularly going up stairs has been transformative as I have pulmonary fibrosis It’s brilliant the service from the salesman to the engineer who fitted the stairlift all on his own was very polite, clean and tidy and I couldn’t believe how quickly he fitted it!! Great service and price for my reconditioned stairlift

Appalling customer service
Appalling customer service. I contacted Halton to request a manual winder as the stairlift they installed for the previous home owner stopped working and I needed urgent access to a cupboard it was blocking. They offered a call out for £200 for 15 minutes excluding parts. They said they did not usually sell winders separately but reluctantly agreed they would check with an engineer and call me back if I preferred.
Meanwhile I spoke to a local company who were extremely helpful, using photos I sent to identify the lift and advise on how to move it safely. Problem solved in 15 minutes at no cost….but still no call back from Halton a week later. Thank goodness we are not reliant on it.

The account was archived in the original users’ details to which we had difficulty identifying yourself to provide a call back. Unfortunately, with the easter bank holidays, the member of the team who you spoke to was not available, therefore we have only been able to trace you from your review and the member of the team returning to work. As per your review, the lift was installed for a previous user back in 2020, and we have had no contact from them since the installation.
As there is no service contract in place, we did provide the cost of a standard callout and gave an indication of potential costings to get the stairlift working again but from your call, the stairlift is not used regularly and you are considering having the stairlift removed. As independent stockist, there are different variations on the hand-winders for your stairlift model, we needed to investigate further to ensure we were providing the correct hand-winder for the stairlift in situ or indeed if an alternative solution that did not require the purchase of the specific tool.
Again, please accept our apologies for the delay in coming back to you. I note that from your review, your issue has since been resolved but should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
