After over 25 years cruising with different cruise lines we tried Fred Olsen for the first time in July 26. My overall feeling was why on earth did we wait so long! The service, food and just overall... See more

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines operates a fleet of three elegant, smaller-sized ships, Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral. The size of our ships allows us access to more interesting places, and means we can dock in the heart of some of the world’s most beautiful cities, and our itineraries are carefully crafted so that our guests travel to these amazing places at the very best time of year.
On board, Signature Experiences showcase the history, culture, nature and flavours of the destinations you will visit – from Itinerary Insights, where special guest speakers and local experts will host talks, workshops and demonstrations to provide a deeper understanding of the destinations, to Treats of the Region, where guests can enjoy local delicacies and learn how to create delicious regional dishes.
Plus, with each ship carrying 1,300 guests or less, our ships are small enough to offer a warm, friendly and personal service where nothing is ever too much trouble.
At Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, we channel our 175 years of experience into making your holidays simply unforgettable by meticulously crafting our cruises to provide an experience that helps to create memorable journeys for our guests.
With sailings from five departure ports around the UK, your next Fred. Olsen cruise is closer than you think.

A lovely friendly professionally managed cruise. Delighted to have been on the Balmoral Cruise.
The staff were first class, helpful, polite. Couldn't fault the servise we received , food first class, cabin excellent met all our needs.
you made our Silver Wedding Anniversary so special Thank you for all the wonderful touches
Right from the beginning, our cruise went smoothly - no hanging about in queues to board, and all staff were so helpful and patient.
My husband and I really enjoyed our time on the cruise from Rosyth to France. Balmoral is a great size with plenty of interesting bars, restaurants and activities, 2 pools and the theatre events as well. The staff were helpful, efficient and hard working. There were one or two glitches which were overcome smoothly (an out of action computer at Rosyth meant a queue for embarkation and a broken bridge meant we could not land as planned in the centre of Bordeaux). The very hot weather was not something even Fred Olsen could put right. We were glad of the air con in our cabin and around the ship.
First time sailing with Fred Olsen.
Amazing holiday with seemless transfers on and off ship from Rosyth.
Staff on ship were so attentive to every need - a real credit to Fred Olsen.
A great experience with a company who were first class in every department from boarding the boat to our leaving and nothing was ever too much.
Amazing from start to finish. Everywhere immaculate food beautiful. Scenery unforgettable. Most of all the staf were the best in the business always do cheerful, respectful and helpful. Brilliant cruise altogether.
Inability to sail into Bordeaux spoilt this stop, accept it was outside your control but five stars would have been awarded otherwise.
Excellent all round, from food to staff could not find fault with anything
Great atmosphere on Balmoral the staff are a credit to the company
Entertainment first class
Great food comfortable bed
Rosyth arrival so well organised
Excellent service, pleasant atmosphere, delighted with the experience, We'll go with Fred again.
Well organised booking in.
Family feel among staff.
Good service and food in restaurant.
Easy to board and leave ship.
Calm atmosphere on board to allow easy relaxation.
Good quality alcoholic drinks.
I wouldn't change a thing about our Norway cruise, from embarkation to disembarkation we thouroghly enjoyed the whole experience.
I would ask the Fred Olsen staff to re assess the points system for the different levels of membership though,a person paying for a single cabin cruise is awarded the same points as a person paying for multiple passengers
All the related services, food, hospitality generally are v good:wait and housekeeping staff are superbly pro.Ship management from Cap Maurer down, deserve complements.MV Balmoral a happy ship, yes.Maybe shore trips need greater research in accessibility terms. The policy on "Rollators" needs clearer explanation in brochures,to avoid disappointment,as many Seniors value your cruises, and do not have much alternatives.Rosyth is great for local Scots.can we have some more? Also, some "groups" on board, for singles to meet others who might have similar interests,as its difficult to make wider connections. But,all in all, after 3 FO cruises,it has become like an exclusive "Grand Hotel".As an Art specialist,I am hugely impressed by your Art Collection :take care of it with specialists,as works have been accidentally damaged recently.
Keep up the quality. We shall be back.

The cruise was great with lots of interesting ports. I'd recommend the Maritime Museum in Cherbourg - it was next to where our ship docked, was free and had enough to occupy you for several hours with some great exhibits. The service on board was excellent as usual and the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was of the usual high standard and the entertainment was enjoyable. We had a very long wait to check in but that was due to problems with the internet and is something I've never experienced before. I cruise regularly with Fred and only wish that there were more ports in Scotland (such as Greenock) in order to cater better for Scottish customers.
Have had many cruises with Fred. Olsen, all of them good. This one was the shortest I've ever been on but I had a great time. Both passengers & crew very friendly & welcoming. Very good weather was a bonus. Borealis is a lovely ship; just the right size, with facilities for all. Cruising is a great holiday for people on their own.
We have cruised with FOCL 7 times since 2012.
The experience we have had from booking to on board has been first class.
This is why we are repeat customers.
Everything is well organised, staff (all staff) welcoming , will go out their way to make sure you enjoy yourself.
Food is excellent, great choices on various menus also specialty dining if it takes your fancy.
Housekeeping cleanliness exceptional.
Onboard entertainment, lectures, swimming, gymnasium, games, cooking demonsrations, card games , library plenty to fill in the day.
Several different shows on various nights to suit differing tastes, ranging from musical theatre, to jazz and "rock'n'roll.
