Good price but poor experiance at branch.

I booked and paid for online in advance a new tyre and balance. I was happy with the price and decided to give Formula 1 in Lye another try. Turned up 10 minutes early to be met by what I would describe as an unenthusiastic welcome. The Manager seemed to be more concerned with his screen rather that the customer in front of him. Car was moved and work commenced. I could not see the work being done replacing the tyre on the wheel , but I asked the manager if the balancing was being completed. His response was that he did not do the work himself and I had to ask the technician??? . Not the customer service I expected . I have since come home and seen that there are NO weights on the inner or outer rim of the steel wheel . I am not convinced it has been balanced, though my invoice says ot was .Overall I thought the cost was good but the experiance was very poor and not one that I would not recommend .

I rang up on the 2/2/2026 asking if…

I rang up on the 2/2/2026 asking if they could get me in for brakes has mine had failed. (Emergency) and thanks to a lovely gentleman named Kev reassured me and said he can get them fixed on the 1/3/2026 true to his word I have a car with brakes. Thanks Kev your a life saver 😘

On time

On time, polite and helpful. Easy online booking system. Asked for yearly reminder re MOT.
Easy parking, places opposite to get refreshments. All round a pleasurable experience

Amazing service

Very satisfied with service we received from Kevin today at the lye centre, he came to us on recommendation at a time where we needed car looked at at short notice, very helpful friendly man, he went above and beyond to ensure my daughter’s car was safe to travel back home to Bristol. If only every garage was as genuine as him, Thank you. Would highly recommend.

Don't use

I booked a puncture repair online for Sunday 19th at lye and when I arrived was greeted by a very aggressive patronising customer services person Ian I think, told I should have phoned branch and booked in first this was not clearly noted when booking or on the appointment reminder. He said he had no one to do a puncture repair ? Thought it was a tyre fitting company. He was very intimidating and felt uncomfortable I will never use your company again. I read reviews after and he has been doing this for over 2 yrs why have you not sacked this person.

Please make sure your refund me ASAP, doubt you will do anything
Update contacted customer services to complain, was told system down to make a complaint, what about a pen and paper was told they would ring me back but still waiting.

Family business since 1969 and their manners stuck there too

It's not about the services as I didn't get a chance to do any.
I booked some and had to give them a call to arrange the time.
Male Karen picked up the phone and was ever so rude coz I didn't catch one of his questions I just went for service cancellation.
Whoever got hearing problems, go straight for Halfords, you're gonna waste your time here.

MOT charges

Daughter took car in for MOT, failed on emissions. She was told to get oil and filter change, which they could not do, and to bring it back next day for free retest, no requirement to book. Undertook repairs and tried to book in next day, but refused, had to wait 24hrs further. Took car in today and they charged her partial fee as they didn't undertake the rework, even though they said it would be free (same guy!). I wouldn't recommend using this place to anyone as they clearly lie.

Tyre fitting

I had ordered a tyre to be fitted but was advised it was not really compatible with my car. The guy I dealt with advised me and suggested he ordered the correct tyre which he could fit the following day. Another company/tyre fitter could have just fitted it and sent me on my way but he made me aware and took the time to explain his concerns and the benefit of the tyre he eventually fitted at no extra cost. Would 100% recommend.

Fabulous experience

Fabulous experience. Got an MOT on a black Friday deal which also included a winter check and wheel alignment check in the cost and took my car to them. The MOT was done while I popped over the road for a coffee. My car unfortunately failed, but I left feeling relaxed about it due to the kind man on the desk. We spoke about options and what it could cost. I was reassured I could spread the cost over 4 months and the guy chatted to me like he had known me years. I knew then, I'd be looked after very well. I booked my car in for the Wednesday and left.

Two days later I called them asking if I could drop my car off on the Sunday to be tested on the Wednesday as work had changed my shifts and it would have been difficult to drop off on Wednesday. This was no issue at all and I dropped it off knowing it would be safe and looked after. Fast forward to Tuesday and I'm getting a call saying it's been done a day early, fixed and retested and passed it's MOT. The guy reassured me that because he knew I drove to Leicester from Dudley most days that they've had a good look at the car and made sure everything is safe and well. I collected it Wednesday afternoon and was able to spread the cost which was less than what was quoted.

This whole experience has been fantastic from start to finish. I will be back next time I need an MOT/anything fixing/new tyres.

Outstanding Service

I visited Formula One Autocentres as I had an issue with a hub cap that had gotten stuck to the valve on one of my wheels. I couldn't get it off myself and was worried this was going to be a hassle to fix.

I was due to go on holiday 2 days later but without hesitation, they managed to fit me on the morning. What truly impressed me was how quickly and efficiently they resolved the issue, without damaging the valve. To top it all off, they did this free of charge and told me "it's fine, go and have a good holiday".

I can't fault the service - every interaction with everyone there was friendly and professional. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend them for their reliability to fit you in and carry out the work to a high standard.

Air conditioning unit problem

Had a problem with my air conditioning unit recently so booked a visit to Formula One. I had it refilled just under a year ago and has not been working at all. My car was looked at straight away by Kevin who was extremley knowledgeable and experienced. After throughly checking the unit for any leaks etc., he found nothing wrong just a loose connection. I was so pleased it was a quick fix. I would DEFINATELY recommend using Formula One as being a genuine and efficient garage to take your car.

I Love this garage

The staff are very friendly and helpful I trust them all completely to do the work needed and the prices are great too, I am kept up to date on the work that my car needs. I cannot fault Formula 1 Lye, that's why I return time and time again.
Also and this is a biggie for me no one treats me like an "old woman"

Just like to give my review on my experiences over a number of years as well as today. l have taken different cars for myself and other family members with a wide range of work from MOT's, servicing, major repair issues and can honestly say how Ian branch manager along with Kevin and the employee's have always been very professional, polite and helpful on our dealings regarding numerous car appointments. I would and do recommend using this formula one outlet as we have always been given top service and fantastic treatment on every visit we have made. Thanks and well done to lan and the boys.
