A grim experience with Expedia. I booked a room at a Greene King hotel, then saw the date was incorrect, and rebooked the correct date at the same hotel about one minute later.
I emailed Expedia straight away but they flatly refused to refund the first booking (for £48.60). Eventually the hotel agreed to refund the amount, but I had to phone Expedia yet again. The whole process took around an hour to sort out.
I strongly recommend avoiding Expedia and booking hotel rooms directly with the hotel - the price will not be any higher.

Be very careful when taking out their Trip protection as it only covers the person booking the holiday not the entire family. After two live chats and a complaint being logged with Expedia I had no contact whatsoever. I did contact the insurance company who were very unhelpful. Contacted Expedia for the final time who did respond but didn’t read the complaint and suggested I contact the insurance company. If you’re booking insurance for your holiday, I’d advise you not to book their Trip Protection.

Absolutely shocking customer service.
Over a month ago, I cancelled a flexible flight booking worth approximately £2,000 through Expedia and was told I would receive my refund within 7–10 days.
When the refund didn’t arrive, I contacted Expedia multiple times. On every call I was told the refund was being processed and that they were liaising with the airline. I spent hours on the phone, including one call where I was on hold for 30 minutes and another where I spent over an hour trying to get an update.
After being repeatedly reassured that everything was in hand, I was finally told today that the refund had not actually been processed at all. After more than a month of waiting and being given inaccurate information, Expedia now has to submit a new refund request and start the process again.
The lack of communication, accountability and transparency has been incredibly frustrating. I have wasted hours chasing a refund that should have been dealt with weeks ago and still have no clear timescale for receiving my money back.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend booking through Expedia. Absolutely shocking customer service.

I hired a car using Expedia paid the charges received confirmation I went to collect the car only to be told I could not have it - I had my passport my credit card driving licence and proof of residency - none of these documents were viewed they could not give me a reason but I never got the car -EXPEDIA took full payment and now offered a partial refund of the money I am making a formal complaint to the ombudsman - should have read the trustpilot reviews

Absolutely hopeless. We booked an apartment in Paris via Expedia and gave them credit card details for payment. We then received an email from the host because payment hadn’t been received. Contacting Expedia to sort this out is hopeless. There’s a lot of general questions that don’t relate to our enquiry but no phone number. Frankly, anyone would be unwise to use Expedia based on our experience.

Booked a flight.
They sent an old email address to the airline company.
Expedia will not send to the correct email address.
I cannot check-in the flight.
On the telephone to them for over an hour and I achieved nothing.
If you don't want any stress, avoid Expedia.

I would rate it minus 1 if that was possible. Shocking misleading website. I booked a hotel which showed as £66 when the pay pal confirmation came through it had taken £152. I cancelled straight away but now they won’t refund it or reinstate the hotel as I need a hotel for said night.
They are not interested in keeping repeat customers obviously. I will be deleting the app and never use again. VERY MISLEADING AWFUL EXPERIENCE. Basically lost £152 in less than 10 mi utes.

As part of a flight and hotel package to Tenerife, I took the Expedia option of private minivan transfers. When I arrived at Tenerife, there was no private minivan waiting for us. When I contacted the transfer company they said they had cancelled and told Expedia - Expedia had failed to tell me. Both the transfer company and Expedia proved to be wholly unreliable. Expedia then refused my reasonable request to cancel and refund the transfer for the homeward journey.
During the course of trying to sort this out, I contacted Expedia customer services multiple times by chat, email and telephone. They were utterly useless and unhelpful.

This is about change of date of my return air ticket on British Airways booked through Expedia. My issue first started with the online facility that Expedia claims is available to all their customers by clicking on Change or Cancel Booking link. I tried several times to do my change of dates online but everytime it failed and with some weird (unrelated) error message. Then I called Expedia's Customer Services number. The first CS agent was indeed polite and helpful but he probably did not know the process correctly. He started explaining me that my change of date request can be ONLY handled by the concerned airline (in this case British Airways). When I explained him that I tried making the change through Airline's official website but then I was notified that since I have booked my ticket through 3rd party i.e. Expedia, I need to contact them only. I was then kept on hold for 30 odd minutes when the agent said he spoke with BA CS agent and they were not ready to entertain Expedia agent calling them for date change and the customer should directly speak to them. He did provide a number to me dial. But as expected, when I called on that number and spending another 30 mins, the lady apologised stating she can't help me with the date change since I have booked through Expedia. I called up Expedia once again and after going through the same ordeal 2-3 times (once I was rediredted to Hotel.Com helpdesk and second time after providing my details the call got disconnected), I managed to get through with another helpful lady and spending another one hour on call, I was finally told that I have to pay additional £886.82 over and above the original ticket price of £789.18 that I had paid while booking through Expedia. I can understand the penalty or admin charges of $150 as well as some reasonable fair difference charges. However, in my case as one may note from above amounts mentioned, that I was asked to pay almost one full return journey equivalent fair for a date change! I think this is clearly an extortion technique by Airlines and I aim to raise my concern separately (since I am mindful that Expedia won't have control on these charges) with AviationADR as well as CAA since this absolutely unacceptable to make passengers to pay hefty penalties for change of dates (which I am sure no one wants to do without genuine reasons). In my case rather than paying double the amount for changed travel I had to cancel my ticket with meagre refund of £171.59 towards taxes when on the ticket the amoun for taxes is mentioned as £479.59. So I had to incurr personal loss of £618 just because I am unable to stick to my originally planned travel dates and I am sure British Airways will obtain double the amount from some other passneger against my cancelled ticket!
I would hence strongly advise not to fall a prey for cheap air fair deals especially with providers like Expedia who are also pathetic in customer services (and may be part of this extortionist airline ecosystem that robs their customer's hard earned money). Beware!

Extremely disappointed with Expedia’s handling of our refund. The airline has already confirmed that the refund was processed and paid to Expedia, yet we are still waiting to receive our money.
Meanwhile, we continue to incur interest charges because these funds have not been returned to us. We’ve spent considerable time chasing updates and have received little clarity on when this will be resolved.

Absolutely rubbish travel company I have ever experienced! Never ever will I use them again. The most unhelpful, useless travel provider. We booked an all inclusive holiday and when the confirmation came through there was no all inclusive stated although we booked all inclusive, firstly they said it does include all inclusive then they said it doesn’t like what can I trust at this stage. After months of months trying to get this sorted and providing proof that I booked all inclusive they did nothing no response to emails, phone calls they were claiming we pay extra to get it added. After this we went to our card company who did nothing either. We decided to get a refund but lose some money on the flight at this stage we was just fed up as nothing was getting done. Even when going through the refund process they already made 2 mistakes and they didn’t even process the refund at first until I chased it up. What an unprofessional, unorganised useless company!

tried to book holiday inc flights online, got to booking it and confirming on my banking app, which said ok. Once back to Expedia they said something was wrong. So I had to start again... price went up, still i paid again, through banking app conmfirmation, but Expedia said problem yest again. I then see that thyey have tried to take money from my bank, then refunded me, but the last time there was no refund. The next day i phoned customer services, which was absolutely useless to actually get through to someone, after severl tries, i got through to someone with an accent!!! She could not find that anything had been debited from my card/account nor that i had a booking. It says online that you can phone them to book, but when i get through they are reluctant to book it for me. When i insist on them booking it for me, it goes through to someone else and then after 5 mins i get cut off. ABSOLUTELY USELESS - THEY NEED TO GET THIS SORTED ASAP
I booked with Expedia only once and will never use them again. They do not check hotel's availability, they just offer a convenient space wherever it suits you and charge you without even consulting with a hotel!
I went to Bournemouth with my daughter and wanted to stay for 1 night as it's over 3 hour drive and only found out in the late afternoon that my booking was cancelled!
They offered a different hotel that was 20 miles away and in a place with no beach so I decided to drive back home.
Absolutely appalling! Will never use them again.
never gonna use it again. I made a booking and it showed as an error then I made it again. They took money twice from my account but the app was still showing that there was an error and no payment or booking confirmation shown. Now I have to wait 7 days for my refund ! Plus the customer service is so useless and have no clue what they are doing, from blaming the airline to saying that there is a problem with my card when the bank clearly said that double payment was made and no holiday booked!! They are holding my money for no reason.
As a HOTEL PARTNER, they opened my account immediately before I could setup my calendar. They used reviews from Booking.com so I received several bookings when we weren't open and we had to make arrangements to open the hotel during these dates. After the guests stayed and I DIDN'T RECEIVE PAYMENT, I saw the bookings were "Hotel Collect" bookings and I was supposed to collect payment when they arrived. I rang in to ask for the guest details as these details are hidden and transferred from Trip.com, not Expedia, but I was given INVALID phone and email details so I rang back to complain. They said they'd try the guest directly, but didn't reach them either. I tried to lodge a complaint but just went round and round with the agents with NO RESULTION. Very unhappy and will likely be closing my account with them unless they pay me for the dates that these guests stayed.
This company is rubbish. I would advise anyone travelling to avoid it. I booked a flight for my family holiday in March. But on the 22th of May only they sent me an email to say my flight has been cancelled. I asked them to refund my money then, they first said within 5 working days, I'll get a refund. I called again on the 29th and then they are telling me my refund has not been processed and that it will take 7 - 15 working days. It's like they don't even know how their system works. when you call them, your call gets redirected abroad and someone answering you and they don't even hear or speak english properly.
My first experience with Expedia has been extremely disappointing. I cancelled my booking almost immediately after making it, yet a large amount was deducted. The hotel has advised that they may be able to reinstate the booking if Expedia contacts them officially, but Expedia has not provided any clear confirmation or proof of such communication.
I have spent considerable time making calls and trying to find a solution, but I still have no satisfactory answer. Customer support has been frustrating, communication has been unclear, and I feel completely let down as a customer.
I expected much better service from a company of Expedia's reputation.
An absolute joke of a company and offers zero protection to the channel customer. Booked full package with this company but airline cancelled my flight due to system error. Called like 20 times and was told so many stories. In the end left stranded with no flight and no hotel. Avoid using them
I wished I hadn't booked. I clicked through on a hotel that had 'Breakfast included' (I have the screenshot to confirm this). Only after I'd confirmed and paid did I get an email and message from the hotel saying it wasn't included. Used the virtual assistant and eventually messaged a human who was completely unhelpful and kept trying to end the chat. I asked to speak to a manager and they asked me to wait. 8 hours later, no response and now the chat is not active. The details were misleading, and once they have the money they are not interested. I would book elsewhere as you cannot be sure that what you are choosing is what you will get and afterwards complaints are ignored and they just hope you give up. Now looking at having to pay another £200 with the hotel if we want breakfast, which means the same deal would have been cheaper on other sites. Really poor customer service
Outrageous!!! Minus thousands of stars!!! I am writing to formally complain regarding my car rental booking on 9th March 2026 (itinerary No. 73392129982623)
The car rental company cancelled the booking via phone due to a lack of vehicle availability.
This constitutes a breach of contract under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, as the service was not provided. I demand a full refund of £93,63 within 14 days.
If this is not resolved, I will escalate this to Citizen’s Advice and financial ombudsmen.
